I came here I think in 2009 or 2010? I bought a 84 Yamaha venture.. and did my best to try and put the beast together had lots of advice and help. but let it go as I just could not do it. went with out a bike for a year or so. then my daughter wanted to put me back on one. put the word out and got the Honda shadow from leadwolf56,s wife sue. yes sometimes I feel like I don't belong when I do a ride with the group for the rootbeer run here in oglesby IL as I do not ride a Yamaha product. any advice I need on the shadow I get from kevin call leadwolf56. as he kept up the shadow like it was new. and I am doing my best to keep her the same. I like the friendship here it don't matter what we ride as long as we enjoy what we ride.

and this is why you must wear a helmet when your on a motorcycle. also I had a lot of these when I lived in MN they just loved my black car mostly after I just washed it. I had a job once where I worked at an airport and drove a golf type cart with a huge horn on it that was to chase the birds away?? tey got to where they would follow the damn car and do an air strike of crap right on us LOL -
08 Venture Starting problem
oldgoat replied to etronicharsha's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
could be a dirty start button. had this happen to a few bikes as the contacts get dirty sometimes. also check your battery cables to the starter. yes they can get corroded . like they all say here lets us know there are a lot more on here that know these bikes better then this oldgoat -

I do the best I can I do go to the rootbeer runs. but my health makes it hard to travel down the highways on the Honda 750 shadow ace. most of if not all of you have bigger bikes and I just cant keep up with all that horse power. but I see where your coming from -
another one I have is when someone puts the damn milk carton back in the fridge with maybe enough to lighten a cup of coffee. or they know the damn milk is bad but put it back in the fridge just to watch and see if some one takes a big swig out of the darn thing(guilty) he he

well I am going up to MN aug. 5th till the 13th. to visit my daughter and son-in-law but just found out today that I am the last man standing from the 8 young men who joined the army back in 1976. right after graduation. I and 7 of my friends joined up back then. 5 of us stayed in for 15 years one of them was me. other 3 went on to do other things after there 6 years where up 3 died from cancer. back in 1980,1985, 1988, there by leaving just five of us left. one died in a snowmobile accident in 1990 leaving just four of us left then. one died in a car accident killed by a drunk driver. in 1999. that left the three of us. one drowned in a fishing boating accident in 2000. that just left 2 of us. Steve Johnson and I well steve passed away 2 days ago at the age of 56. heart attack while out on his horse. I am now the last of them young men. all of my friends from my youth are now gone. god bless you my friends I shall miss all of you very much.

bet he works for a fast food chain? not that there is a problem with that. never been on a motorcycle. thank god that he don't have one. most likely drives a yugo. his mom and dad never gave him enough attention when he was growing up. I could go on on and on but well I think I said enough.

A little more medical update,, really neat stuff!
oldgoat replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
well looks like some one is giving you good advice. (the daughter) keep on the doctors if something works tell them. if something don't bi##h up a storm. looks like they got you going a little better. just like an old dirt bike might take more then one kick to get you up and running?. the heart might just be a little low on compression might need a valve job? I pray you don't. shaving the face made you look shinny and new LOL. them meds might be like a new spark plug got you fired up some. the ride on that Honda gave you some fuel to get out and give tweeks a run just to show you she still cares LOL any way this is some good news many more prayers offered up for you. -
I come here to check up on things. I don't own a Yamaha venture or even a Yamaha. but I do know if I need help with the Honda shadow. that people here have a vast knowledge of bikes in general there advice is very usefull. even if it is a joke like hey so it wont start did you check the gas? the kill switch ect ect. and believe me that yes it can be just that simple. then there are those who will walk you through it. or offer to help if you can get it to them. or if they have time to stop and do it. there are some who wont do it for you but will direct you while you do it by standing there and watching. and if you goof they will jump in and say here let me show you just this once. I also come here to check up on the health of members as yes I do care. like I say we maybe all be nuts but together we make one power full oak tree LOL
