i tell ya them pepole ride on the wrong side of the road and looks like they drive from the wrong seat?
-
funny ya should say that dan as a matter of fact they do have a few hardleys 6 of them right next to my unit is 2 of them they put a lock on it the owners as someone hasent paid in 4 months? looks like 2 units will be going up for auction?

Better yet, put a big ole knobby on the Venture when it's running good and "mow" the lawn that way. :rotf: then they would say i made ruts in there nicely mowed yard that has more gravel in it then the drive way before the blacktop. its funny as most of the lawn equipment just sits inside the gate maybe i could just get a truck and move it someplace like righ infront of the main door with all the non running mowers and say hey you cant work on them here so i was nice enough to move them where the oil will leak by the office and not by the units like my motorcycle might do:rotf::rotf:

well i went up today after 1:00 pm because there closed i punched im my code to get the gate opened went to the unit and filled up the radiator with prestone 50/50 premix i hope thats okay? fired up the bike let it sit and idle for around 15 minutes found the hose leak someone forgot to install that little hose that goes to the overflow tank:whistling: so after a quick look around to make sure im not being watched i went at it with a screwdriver did the grunt type of tight and sure enough no more leaks after another 15 minutes of warm up. looks like i got the leaks and cooling done. the PO installed a run it all the time fan switch that can be shut off i turned it off and the gauge went to half way still no leaks:cool10: but im thinking let that fan run all the time wont hurt the bike as wehn you shut it off witht he key the fan will go off. see if i sneak up there for just an hour or so they think im just cleaning and sorting the unit. now sunday i will go up and sneak the shroud back on i just need to know what size them srews are as i had to drill them out and of course threw the darn things away anyone know the size? of the treads? and shhhhhhhh dont turn me in:rotf:

well i have been working on the bike up in a storage place had it apart then put it back together almost the radiator and all are back on the bike except for the shroud. now i have been working on the bike up there on and off for maybe a week. well yesterday the new worker up there called the owner and said that i been working on my motorcycle. for hours on end? well to make a long story short the owners called me and said you can not work on stuff in storage place? hmm i said it says no where in my contract that i can not? they went on to say i could wreck there unit with oil gas ect ect? i there by went and showed them some pictures of a lawncare service repairing there items and there unit is full of lawn mowers that are being worked on and there is gas oil ect ect on the floor huge stains. she said well he mows the place they own? see where this is going? i said ok if someone rents a unit and say there car motorcyle ect ect is broke down they must call a tow truck to do a minor job? say the car has a few flat tires from sitting or a motorcycle we can not air them up as you would call that working on them? she said yes that is inproper use of a storage unit? but we will allow you to air them up but you can not install battery or replace a tire? well now im going WTF? so i now go in after 6pm when there not there as i need to get the tires up and put the shroud back on the radiator and fill it up even if a small hose might be leaking/ i can not take it apart again to fix it i did tighten it up but left before i could put antifreeze in it. so im going to sneak up there latter sunday and fill it and check for a leak if it leaks by that hose at least the motor cooling system will have antifreeze in it for next winter? then i will be looking for a new place for the bike as i can not ride it in the condition its in and my back is going out on me.. so thats how my week went ..

ok ok i got a fire up my arse got some fans and a cooler of refreshments. went up there took the leaking one off got smart this time i put it in the trunk of the car. got yours out of the box and said what the hell im allready hot and sweaty. so i installed it. tighten everything up good and tighty. but forgot the darn little hose to the overflow bottle. i will work on that it was cut at one time and put back on so its looking a little short? anyways i filled it with water. for test purpose. the radiator filled up and started looking like it was leaking? then i said its filling all the cores so it just looks wet. and of course for once in my life i was right LOL now the temp in the shed was reaching 115 in there so i said james time to get the heck out of there. so tomorrow is the fire up test. the PO had the fan running on a switch so i just went back to that set up. as the temp gage is what i call a summer time gage summer the time it works great summer the time you have to tap it. i did get sensors off of flebay but seeing as the PO cut and spliced one to install that switch the tang one on the sensor unit is not plugged in. now the bike ran good like that when i bought it then the gremlins of not maintaing the bike caught up with it. so im slowly getting this bike back together. and i hate to say this but enjoying working on it myself things i can do. because by noways am i a motorcycle mechanic. i also learned mark things draw a diagram take picks put the part like screws in a baggie with and tie to the part it came off of. also clean the engine or junk off before working on it . and proper tools will make life a little more easy on ya. now wish this oldgoat luck tomorrow when i fire it up and pray it dont over heat. i will run that fan at all times better to be safe then sorry..

just wanted to say thank you for the radiator it got here today. i had a friend test my old one and sure enough the upper core where the cap goes on has a small split in it that was makeing it run across the top and down the other side makeing me think it was leaking on that side. yours my friend looks like a brand new one. and you included the fan and the cap. now how is that for a great man? i wont be installing this for a few days my bike is up in a storage shead and the temp around here the next few days is going to hit the hight 90,s with heat index in the 105 range so im not going into a metal storage shead to work in that kind of temp. but i will keep ya posted on when i get it done.

cant make the MD but yep i had this type maybe injury, buldge in l5 s1 area pinched nerve sciatica shooting pain down my legs right to my toes. weakness ect. i had spinal injections. lots of PT hevy meds oxycoton morphine and for a while it worked for about 2 years now i have degenertive disk diease more or less the docs saying im getting old. i now have traction treatments once a month and that seems to help. there are days when bending can be a problem but right now i will go this route as to haveing a spinal fusion . i wish ya luck a bad back is no fun at all
-
hmm looks like you have some pinched nerves in the l5 s1 area also some decompression in that area there by causeing back problems along with pain down your legs tingles sometimes too am i right? and nope i aint a doctor but if im correct that will cost ya at least one beer..

ok waiting on the radiator from skydoc and its on its way. just a few questions where is the thermostat located at if its where i think it is it looks hard to get at? i also have the fan wired to a switch by the PO and cant see why he did that? after looking at the sensors he unplugged one and i cant find the clip or wire to where it goes? the temp gauge hardley moves after 5 to 10 minutes of idle. when i checked the old radiator. this bike never overheated untill that radiator started that small leak and blew an old hose to the fron of the engine. now im thinking that maybe the thermostat caused part of the problem? it may have heated up caused a small split in the radiator which made it hot and then made the hose blow? ok so whats your opions? i do not want to put in a good radiator to watch it overheat and put me back at square one again?
-
not sure maybe it can be? it leaks across the right top and right below the hose pipe i think? on that side i did recheck to make sure it wasent a hose and its not. dont help much with old tools. god bless my dad for them LOL. wow you did a engine job 3 times? bet ya can do it in your sleep now. i have never worked on these bikes so im thinking 3 hours to do a radiator job might be a little slow for some? but with old stripped screws them tension hose clamps just enough room to get my hands in a tight place i think im doing good? im starting to see some points as to why some shops wont work on old bikes if there honest they dont want to cheat you. but they realy cant do a flat rate what should be an easy 2 hour job can turn into an all day and still have problems. thank god for this site and pepole who have been there and done that who give advice on encouragement and that means a lot to me

ok i goofed i put it all back together put the water in fired it no leaks so i was going to do the happy dance. then sure enough i forgot why i took it apart in the first place. beside a radiator hose that blew it had a leak prior to the hose going poof. with weddings and being just plain busy.. i let it sit untill i got the hoses from a member here. and forgot to contact skydock17 the radiator on this bike had a top core small leak. and of course skydoc had one waiting on me to say ok ship it. so i have it all together my skills where good no leaks from being put together. untill warm up and then the oh crap i forgot to order something . looks like i need to contact skydoc17 and say james goofed and needs that radiator. good news is im learning to put this bike together. kind of gives an oldgoat some pride in his work. but that old memory thing can sure cost ya a days work and some tired sore old hurting muscles. like my uncle who was a mechanic he allways said son ya learn by your mistakes and you get faster every time you pull it apart and put it back together. not sure about that? he also said you know you did it right if you have cuts and bloody knuckles when your done well i got that today now to give a shout out to skydock17 if he,s around and wait for another shot at it..
-
ok after getting parts from members on here and working in a hot storage shed i put the radiator and hoses back on the bike. just not sure how tight i got everything? i dont have much feeling in one of my hands i got all the clamps tight i hope? now just a quick and maybe dumb question? is it safe to test just useing water instead of anitfreeze? i can drain the water witht he drain valve if all looks good after the test and replace with proper antifeeze. as the cost of antifreeze just to watch it hit the floor can be a little bit expensive when your unemployed and on social security....
