i recall our first tv was round screen. you got up to change the chanels. you would have to whack it sometimes to get sound and stop if from rolling. my dad used to fix old tvs the tube type ones. i recall one day standing over him and watching him replace them tubes it was a old tv not working for like 2 years well he touched the back of the picture tube and got knocked on his butt. he latter found out there was a tool to discharge them picture tubes as they can hold a charge in them for a few years even after they sat not working that long. i laughed my butt off after i saw he was ok.

verry nice and i remember when us kids would go and play base ball far away from parents that yelled at the coaches or the umpires. and every one of us played no one sat on a bench.

im back for now:cool10: got the inter net back up and running thanks to all of you. just got back from helping at that camp. i did not know how many homeless pepole there are around here. and mostly veterans. we got them fed cleaned and settled in for the 3 day week end. i dont know why thay dont keep it open 7 days a week? but im guessing its because a church helps to support this cause? they have there women folks make up the food and we dish it out. kind of like an old mess hall? after eating they go take a shower if they want. then we give them a pair of sweat pants and a t shirt to wear and some shower sandles. so they can was all of there clothes. lights out at 10pm. dougnuts and coffee at 8 am im not there for that. then they get a sack lunch. mostly peanut buttter and jelly sandwiches an apple and juice, that keeps them going untill dinner time. today there was 32 pepole i signed in. it was nice to help them but sad too. im just glad that i can some how pay it forward the only way i can right now. i am looking at a low income rental place its based on a percent of your total income but im just not a high rise type of person kind of like that i can come and go as i please . the rental low income place you cant have overnight pepole no visitors after 10 pm. thats not for me yet. i heard from my workers comp lawyer and where up for a trial in sep. just trying to get this setttled.

just an update pepole have been asking if i can get the funds out of my pal pay. and as of right now i can. tonight i go to the camp i was talking about. and do my work. for the things they gave me. they said they have some clothes for me a few pairs of pants. some new socks and a pair of shoes or boots. my internet is now back on but im up at the library now. just turning in some books and going to take my name off the list of pepole who use the computers on a daily basis. so once again thanks to all of you sorry im just not in the hummour mood right now. but give me time and i will be back to cracking jokes and poking fun again every day and night i offer up a prayer for all of you may you all be blessed today with health and the love of friends and family james aka oldgoat

well im at the library again and just checking in its pouring rain today. so i will be heading home soon just wanted to say things are getting a little better got a voice mail from cruising for a bruising? not sure if thats the right spelling? but the tracfone is down to 12 minutes and i couldnt get to it. i will buy a 120 minute charge up card tomorrow with doubble minutes it will be 240 this most of the time sees me through a month or two. im not much of a phone talker LOL just want to say the snail mail donations are comming in. and thank you to the MN guy Bubber. i got your letter and it did lift my spirit. sure wish i could have stopped by when i was headding up to brainerd MN to give my daughter away at her wedding but you where a few hours away. well time to check out the books give this computer to someone else to use. head home and read and just enjoy the rest of this rainny day. may god bless every one of you and keep ya safe james aka oldgoat

the internet will be back on sometime thursday afternoon. i went with as cheap as i can go just basic tv and internet. as you can see im up early and here at the library as i cant go with out at least saying hello to this group. i have to go and check out the camp i was talking about latter tonight. to kind of get the feel for the place. i did not know that there are over 30 homeless vets in my area alone not counting about the same in the next county who come to this camp seeking help. kind of makes me wonder about how our vets are treated? i have to go for now. im not realy on my time for use of the computer but the lady here is pretty good about letting me sneek a few extras when no one is around but there at the desk getting ready to sign in for there use. i will keep ya all posted when i get back on line i cant promisse i will still be the funny oldgoat. but i will try.

i want to say thanks to all of you. this is a hard time in my life with all of your help so far and the veterans center i now have food and basic needs i have to turn in the cable and modem box for internet and tv service so they can close out the old bills that will be paid . then they will turn the cable and internet back on with new cable box and modem something about serial numbers for old account and new account. i think its to get a few more $$ out of me. re sign up fee of $40? when they get ya by the short hairs they realy get ya. and dingy i laughed at a good meal and a few beers LOL i will consider that advice maybe a few hot dogs on the grill and a cheap quart of king cobra. about all i can aford at this time. im at this crazy library and its ok but realy cant get all done in the hour they give ya on this computer. as for a family well i sure have one huge family here and once again many thanks next year i hope will be better and i can see some of this wonderfull family at freebirds MD.:bighug: to all of you

hello every one. i would like to say thank you from my heart for the monies prayers and such. yes sailor i am a veteran. and right now im at the liabrary waiting on a man from the veterans center. they will be brining me a food vocher for $75.00 and some basic needs like toliet paper shaveing cream and such. they asked me if i would be interested in helping other vets at a camp they call the clean and eat? its an old boy scout camp that is no longer used by the boy scouts they open it up on friday till monday AM they feed the vets vets only. and let them shower and sleep there and do laundry. but come monday there on there own till friday night. they close that camp. durring the week. they then ask any vet if they need to go to the clinic for treatment and such. all i have to do is help give out the food , towles blankets and pillows. about 2 hours per night 6pm till 8 pm fri , sat and sunday and i will be allowed to eat there as well as do my laundry. i will be paid for my service with a food vocher every 2 weeks in the amount of $35 for a total of $70 a month. and they got me help with a food link card? that gives me another $38 a month. so i feel as if im working for my needs and it gets me out tof this apartment . any ones once again thanks my friends. they are here and i must run. i should have my internet back up and running by tuesday thanks to all of you james aka old goat

im sitting here at the library you get to use the computers for an hour then you have to let others log in. i want to say thanks to all of you. i realy hate being in this situation. and with my health i can say im scared too. i went in and checked my pay pal and saw that there was some$$ in there for security reasons it will not let me in. the libraian said she would help me to get in latter monday around 4:00 pm. i just pay a small one dollar fee and they open up the computers secuirty lock to let me in. this is so others who use the computer after me can not go into history and see where i have been. makes sense to me for thoes who would like my pay account address its hackstudio@yahoo.com and my home address is James Hack 903 1/2 water street peru IL 61354 many thanks to all of you i have to get off now as my time it about to run out. i can come back in a hour or so but i think im going to grab some nice books and head home is it okay to say i love you all? sincerly oldgoat james

i will survive ya cant keep an old grunt down. going to go check the veterans center on monday sometimes they can get ya a little help. after my daughters wedding a few weeks back i spent most of my savings. this was to get me to the wedding and gas to and from. this took just about every dime i had pluss what i tried to save to get to MD. i did not make it there. my daughter paid for her wedding as i could not even chip in. she paid all my motel and tuxido bills after buying a house and paying all her bills and her husband Justin haveing a heart transplant i just cant ask her for help. i too know about storage places and sneaking in at night to sleep in them when i was homeless i had a small unit that i know the owners knew i was sleeping in it . they never botherd me. that was in mn. then i got that damn MS at age 39 that took me out of the work force. sometimes i would feel good enough to try the work ticket social security would give me then i would work till i got sick. last job i had 3 years ago i had a serious injury to my back and left knee and well trying to get the insurance company and workers comp to pay up is like trying to find chicken lips. when they do pay your broke car is repoed your looking at living in a tent . and the little ya get from them is not even close to waht i would have made in the 3 years of lost wages. then theres the lawyer. the creditors the wolf at the door. then you find a used car to drive never mind the 2005 car i have paid on for 5 years and only have a year left of payments. well i could go on and on. but i wont

im trying to find stuff i can part with to sell or pawn. but im down to nothing only thing left is a bra for a 2005 pontiac grandprix. never been on my car but im sure some hardware is missing. have mufflers for a1984 yamaha royal in fair shape but one has small pin holes at the verry end not through the muffler but it allso rattles?. dont have much else about everthing i have is old and outdated heck my computer is even 6 years old same as my tv and i have vhs not dvd LOL im waiting on a workers comp case to settle been 3 years now no payments from them after i reached MMI lawyer is working on it but hell he can eat and not have to worrry. hope to settle it by december??? i have been homeless once for over a year. i can tell you its no fun. but hey im still alive so i guess thats all that matters.

sorry everyone but im going to have to let them shut off my service on internet and tv. im down to $20 in savings and im behind on some bills as of monday they will be shutting me down. i have verry little food to see me through till next month. i have applied for help food electric and such but still in the wait and see line. this economy and being on just SSDI hurts when the bills are higher sometimes then the income. you all take care ride safe and be safe sincerly james aka oldgoat

First Gen. Carb. Sync. With Carbtune Including Pics! There have been so many people asking about Syncing. the Carbs on their First Gens. that I thought I would take a few pics of the way I do it so that other members would have a general Idea how to go about it. (Disclaimer: My way is not the "do all, be all", just the way I do it. Take what you need and leave the rest.) I start by removing the screw in the false tank cover and unhooking the front of the cover, It does not need to come off. I then remove both side covers. I then remove both of the Radiator side panels to expose the 2 screws that will allow the lower fairing legs to be pulled away from the Carb. Bodies. (NOTE: if your lower fairing legs are in bad shape, you may want to remove the lower cowling which will expose the screws that will allow you to completely remove the lower fairing legs, Mine are still pretty flexible so I don't take them completely off. (Do what you feel "warm and fuzzy" about.) With the plastic off, I start the bike and let it run up to "operating temperature". Pic #1 shows the temp. gage about 1/3 the way up. Depending how "hot blooded" you bike is, this may take a minute or two. While the bike is warming up, Pic #2 shows how I suspend my Carbtune from the ceiling in my shop with a long shoe string and center it right above the gas cap. This allows the Carbtune to remain vertical and also allows me to work both sides of the bike with out moving the Carbtune . At this time, I shut the bike off. Pic #3 shows the location of the Vacuum ports on the right side of the bike, I remove them and plug in the Carbtune on that side. Pic #4 shows the lines installed on the right side. I then move to the left side of the bike, Pic #5 shows the one Vacuum port Cap and the "Boost Sensor" Vacuum line that is connected to Cylinder #2. (NOTE: These pics were taken of an 1987 VR MKII, I don't know if the MKI is the same because I don't own one!) I remove the Vacuum port cap from the #1 cylinder and the Boost Sensor line from the #2 cylinder and Pic #6 shows the two lines from the Carbtune connected. I am now ready to restart the bike. Pic #7 shows how I position a fan at the front of the bike to keep the engine temp. from going too high. I like to take my time when I'm adjusting the Carbs. on a bike and this gives me the extra time. With the bike running and at temp. Pic #8 shows the location of the Idle adjustment screw. (NOTE: I moved the #2 cylinder Carb. Bowl Drain Tube out of the way for the pic. This screw is hard to find unless you are squatting down... and use a flashlight!) Pic #9 shows the Tachometer at 1000 RPMS (By the book 950-1050 RPMS) Pic #10 shows the Carbs. are in fact out of adjustment. I have the left two channels of the Carbtune connected to the left side of the bike, (cylinders #1 and #2.) and the right two channels of the Carbtune connected to the right side of the bike, (Cylinders #3 and #4). Starting on the left side of the bike Pic #11 shows the location of Carb. Sync. screw "A". (NOTE: This is another screw that is hard to see at first, and it is at a downward angle so it will be hard to get a screwdriver on it properly, be patient!) The object here is to rotate "Screw A" until you get the left two channels balanced. Make an adjustment, then "Blip" the throttle and let the bike return to Idle. If needed, adjust again. With the left bank of Carbs. adjusted, I move to the right side of the bike for the rest of the adjustments. Pic #12 shows the location of the "B" and "C" screws. Screw "B" is used to adjust the right two channels of the Carbtune, and Screw "C" is used to adjust the left bank of two Carbs. (Cylinders #1 and #2) to the right bank of Carbs. (Cylinders #3 and #4) Using screw "B" I adjust the right two channels, "blip" the throttle and readjust if necessary. Then I use screw "C" to adjust the left bank to the right, "Blip" the throttle and readjust. Pic #13 shows all four Carbs. on the Carbtune adjusted pretty darn close. Basically, you are done at this point. I wanted to add a few personal suggestions that I use to "enhance" the Carb. Sync. experience to make the bike run even better for me. After I am done with the Carb. Sync. at Idle, I Rev the bike to the 1800 to 2000 RPM range and hold it there, if all four of the Carbs. aren't holding the same vacuum at 2000 RPMS I make slight adjustments (split the difference) between Idle and 2000 RPMS. The reason I do this is because when I am stopped, and start to take off, I increase the RPMS of the bike into the 1800 to 2000 RPMS range as I am slipping the clutch to engagement. I don't want one or more Cylinders "cutting out" or "cutting on" as I am trying to look cool pulling away from a light, especially with Jean on the back! The next issue I would like to address is the "Reliability" of the Carbtune Manometer. Here is a list of Items I purchased to build a simple "Manometer Tester" Manifold. Pic #14 shows the "Manifold" and Pic #15 shows how I test my Carbtune BEFORE I use it. I got these Items from NAPA Auto Supply: Part# 2-616 (2 needed) Vacuum Connector $1.49 each $2.98 Part# H-459 (1 foot needed) 5/32 Vacuum Tubing $.99 1 qty. 1/4-20 screw Free from toolbox 6% Tax (Pa.) $.24 -------- $4.21 Total I hooked all 4 Carbtune lines to the manifold and hooked the Manifold line to one of the carbs. on my 87'VR. i have the turn down tips on my 84 but i have an extra set that are straight out. if hes looking for just the muffler? i will run up and see how the extra ones look? i know one of them has some rusted little holes at the verry end not sure if its the left or right one? also one of them has something rattiling in it. if its what he needs he can PM me
