today just for fun i thought i would check out the dealer in oglesby IL kawasaki dealer i explaned to him my bad knees and the type of bike i now have. i tould him the venture is a little hard for me to get on and off due to hight and my 27 inch inseam and the weight of the bike. he said he understands that. so off we go to his used bikes in the back. he said here take this black bike for a ride. and we will talk. i went hmm okay. so he fired it up and off i went for a 5 mile ride bike was nice to handle had some pretty good power. and i felt good holding it up and doing slow turns on it. the bike was a vulcan i forgot to ask what cc it was. i think he stated a 900. he said when im in the market for one and have the $ he can most likely get me on a good used one for $3000. he said he will look over the venture and give a fair price on it. but being old as it is. it more then likely wont be more then $450 on a $3000 bike kind of a ouch to my pride. so im thinking next spring sell the venture out right then go for the vulcan. dont get me wrong if i had the $ to finish the venture mostly cosmetic and find a way to handle the big brute i would. i even had the thought of finding a trike kit for the venture but at $1500 used im not sure i want to go that way. im sure i will be accepted here no matter what i ride. but spring is still a long ways away. but i have come to the pint that i know my knees are just not what they should be for the venture. so a cruiser with saddle bags might be the way to go?

my prayers go out to you and your family. haveing gone through 3 memembers of my family passing away from cancer. in the last 18 years it can be hard on a person. my brother passed away in his apartment in my arms while i tried to perform cpr on him i knew it was over he was 51 my mom passed away at the age of 60 in my sisters home while she took care of her. she also helped with my brother. then my dad passed at age 70. a half hour before i walked into the home he was in. i had to be the srong one in the family. when all the stuff was over i went out and into a wooded area that is still my special place and cried like a baby. so god bless you don and your wonderfull wife. -

yes it was a good birthday and yep i missed the thread. thank you every one for the whishes. now i have to talk to someone up in north dakota about being sneaky and knowing my password on here. yes my little Dianne im talking about you. i did get out and ride on my birthday. sorry it was not on my venture. i went out and test rode a bike that my brother in laws friend has for sale. it was a honda v45 magna? nice bike fit me well . power is okay. felt good to get out and enjoy a day. not to many pepole will let you test ride a bike for 3 hours. of course he was with me for the first 2 hours. we rode some back roads and ended up some where in a little town just east of normal IL? i must admit im thinking of going this way with a motorcycle the venture is all most done she runs and is all back together needs plastic work done and i did manage to get a shine back on her amazing what pledge some wax and elbow grease can do. i have to work on that brown trunk my niece painted for me LOL it needs to go back to maroon. i will take some pics of how the venture looks now and again in the spring. as im thinking of letting the old girl go. i know that what ever i ride i will be welcomed here.

hmmm maybe it can be hooked up to the stop watch on a first gen. set the stop watch for how many seconds turn the turn signal on then when stop watch stops so does the turn signal?? but thats just a crazy idea but if it could work i want a few royalties too:cool10: -

is this a common problem with vstar motorcycles? they are going to order her a new tank. so she should be good to go? not sure if they just send a blank type one and she needs to get it painted or they send on thats all ready in her color combo? she thought the heat might have did it? they tould her they could put on a tank from a salvage bike for her to ride untill she gets her new tank . she said no and left it at the dealers. she said thanks for the advice. this is her second bike that got some damage last bike was totaled her hot pink ninja. she is verry happy with her vstar but now she is a little upset but that should fade when she gets it fixed. so is there a fix to keep that vent from plugging up again when she gets the new tank?

hello i just got a call from my friend dianne up in north dakota. she said last night she filled up her gas tank then put it in the garage to get ready for a ride today. well she went inside to start up the bike and saw the tank looked like someone caved it in.? she is upset as i would be too she hopes this would be coverd under her warrenty? she bought the bike last year vstar model. i tould her to call the place down here where she bought it then go to a local dealer up there im sure they will replace the tank. the poor woman is in tears. she said she cant even find one on ebay in good condition and close to her silver/black color.

thanks i should have said im small in the inseam im 5 ft 8 but have a 27 inch inseam even this first gen is a bear to get on but once im on and the air reduced in the shocks i can place both feet flat on the ground most of the time. but getiing on and off i have to do the hop and skip and drag my leg over the seat not a verry good feeling because at one time i tipped the bike doing that. a female friend of mine dianne bought the 650 vstar? and loves it but im thinking a 650cc just wont cut it for me. she has rode hers from IL to north dakota and said hers did just fine for that size bike. but after all shes 5 ft 5 and weighs about 120 me im 5ft 9 and lets say i pack a few good pounds. right now im looking at ebay and cycle trader thanks for that advice ruffy never thought to look there. im seeing 1100cc going from 4k and up im thinking high prices because the ridding season is still upon us? good time to check on one might be around january? the holiday season is over pepole have bills to pay and they just might have a second bike that they could part with at a fair price. of course this allso means i cant realy test drive it. but i can work that out some how.

just got back from seeing my doctor and lawyer i ha ve been fighting a workers comp case for over 3 years and now it looks like we are going to settle check might be here by october all the papers are signed. now thats good news but here is what im asking? my doctor said i can go ahead and try and ride my motorcycle this fall or next spring. as most pepole here know my bike runs fair. but i want to go down to a more easy to ride motorcycle due to my knees and health. so im asking what type of bike would you all think i should look at ? i want a decent yamaha crusier maybe? that i can handle and ride to MD next year. i dont think a 650 cc would make me happy. and i dont want a big heavy touring bike as of now. my price range might be in the 3k range depending on this settlement and the possible sale of the venture. i once had a yamaha maxim and loved that bike. but was thinking along the line of a good virago? so whats your opion on bikes i wont be buying one till next spring. thanks
