    hello every one i could use some advice on a motorcycle. as some people know i sold the 1984 venture royal. now i heard from my lawyer that my workers comp case is over and should have a settlement check by august. or as early as july? it,s not a fourtune. but should help me get a nice bike and take care of basic needs for a few years. im thinking of going with a smaller bike. bad knees and seat hight on the venture made it hard to handle. i heard about v stars? but do they make them larger then a 650cc. not that a 6500cc is bad. just want something that can get me down the highway,s and make trips with some comfort. someone said they made a 1100cc? or a 900cc? i dont want to realy leave the yamaha brand. and im thinking in the $3000.00 to $3500 range if that can be done ? on a good vstar. or something else you all can think of? thanks oldgoat

    all the first gens took off to DQ while my second gen is . still on it,s kick stand.

    got more news from the doctors. the cancer has spread. it,s now in the lymp noides? and is spreading from the lungs to her liver. they said it wont be long before it hits the pancreaous? it,s just a matter of time. she said please no treatment. as she saw what it did to all of my family members. and since she,s in her 80,s she had a good life. im not sure about that? she out lived 3 of her 4 children. guess maybe she want,s to be with the family up there? this is the last family member on my dads side. so i guess i will be the older generation now? 2 aunts left on my mom,s side. one in her early 80,s and one in a home at age 72. sure makes me wish i could have spent more time with them when i was younger. but we all have to follow are own paths. im going to miss her when she,s gone. well that,s how my day went so far.

    to raise and lower the antena. first french the antena in the side saddle bag. place the motor in there and there ya go.

    her son, my sister and I are starting to pack her things. as the doctors want to put her into a home. so where going through tons of stuff. this woman has a small apartment stuffed to the roof. she is just like my dad was a pack rat. the home where we are going to take her, is the same one that has my aunt from my mothers side. so they can visit each other. so this will keep them both happy untill her time comes. her lungs are at 20% function. it is hard to see her have problems getting her breath. even while she,s on oxygen. some times it,s hard to think this. but we keep saying that we wish she would go quick and not suffer for 6 months. cancer is not good in this family. my mom passed away at age 60 bone cancer my dad passed at age 70 colon cancer my brother was 51 pancreatic cancer. my uncle. passed at age 69 lung cancer. now this aunt is 80 or 81? and has lung cancer. some times i think it,s the factorys they worked at back in there day,s? now i think about the brake pads i redone at a factory i worked at back in the 80,s abestes. was used on them pads? could be how i got MS? at the age of 36. we never know how long we have here. so try and enjoy it as much as you can. i have a saying tell your loved ones and friends you love them. every day if you can because they might not be here tomorrow. so if this sounds mushy oh well hey my fellow venture brothers,and sisters old goat loves you all:bighug:

    well the day after i sold my bike. my 80 year old aunt the only family left on my fathers side. had a problem breathing. after going down to the ER she was rushed to peoria . when after many tests and xrays . she was found to have a golf ball size tumor on one lung and a tennis size on on the other. they did a pet scan for the whole body. and she has cancer. they give her any where from 4 to 6 months. she has out lived 3 of her children. the oldest one is still alive and he,s in his early 60,s. i have two aunts left on my mothers side. one is in a home and has dementia? she forgets who i am and calls me sometimes by my dead brothers name. the other aunt has nothing to do with us. after we told her she should go see her sister. and that we where mad that she could not even bother to call or come to my brothers funeral 5 years ago.. las vegas and losing 12 grand was more important. so im sorry to say. i wont talk to her. looks like the family line is slowly going away. as for the hack family. i have a daughter. no children. so the hack family name kind of ends with me. im the last hack son. but i guess if my daughter has children some of the hack blood remains?

    sounds good chuck. i take it it was the wires?

    sounds to me chuck that i did not hook the 2 black wires for ground back up. the male and female ones your talking about indeed where hooked together before i fixed it. i must have pulled them apart again when i had to retighten the small hose for the over flow. im not much of a gabbling man but i would bet that,s what happened.

    after reading dingy,s post.. chuck i think i might have missed that black bullet connector on hook up? im not sure where the anti frezze is comming from/ unless its out the over flow? did a hose let lose? there are great people here chuck. and dingy is one of the best. as are many others here. trust them they will have you on the road. when i fixed it last year i did notice that the PO hooked that fan switch to what looked like a temp sensor? and when i got the used hoses i used the used sensors that came with the hoses. it was a simple plug and hook up for me. after fixing it i ran the bike in the storage unit on ahot day for 20 minutes with out turning that switch on. and the guage moved back then? then i pput the plastic back on and tightened a small hose to the overflow tank. i could have hit the black wire and it became dissconected?

    chuck this is old goat. last year a hose blew on the bike i did replace all the hoses. but they where used. the fan switch was on the bike when i bought it. but i never ever had to use it? and the guage always did work? in my haste to fix the bike. i could have missed a hook up? when i pulled it out of a storage unit. it was over 90 degress out side. and a member here drove it home for me. about 2.5 miles in that hot degree day. with out turning on the fan switch. and she did not over heat. the radiator that is on it now is a good one i got from a member here. and the one i gave you was fixed and is in great shape as well. i know i hooked up all the hoses correct. and i might have missed something to the gauge? but when you came to see the bike and i fired it for you the gauge did move. just a little? but i did use a used sending unit. and it could be faulty. i hope the used hose did not blow. but in the boxes of extra stuff is 2 more used hoses. i would go new but i saw where napa had close to what is needed new and they can be made to fit. i am sure this all can be fixed. the memebers here will help you. as will I as much as i can. sincerly oldgoat.

    oldgoat came from my great niece after my last operation on my knee. i was bending over when i tripped and butted her with my head, and i had a verry long beard at the time. so when i looked up. she said that looked just like grandpas old goat when he butted grandma in the butt . so ever since then she lovingly calls me oldgoat.

    well it,s gone:mytruck1: kind of sad to see her go. i tossed in all the extra parts and a helmet. he said he will join the club. and thats one more member:cool10: now the car will paid off. so no more worries about the wolf at the door for it. this in no way means the rootbeer gang can forget about me. you know who you are. so if your comming this way EUSA1 make sure and call the oldgoat. i dont want to lose my friends. i enjoyed all the help. and because i dont ride does not mean i wont help out. in any way i can. god bless you all oldgoat
