Haha, thanks for the concern, my family's been riding the big tourers like that ever since before i was born, so i know my way around them. My first bike was a yamaha 80, then a Honda Helix 250, then a Kawasaki KZ 650, and now my Venture!
Personally, I prefer the 1st gen ventures because im more into the full dress touring style of the honda, over that of the harley. My next bike probably will be a second-gen venture(i love this motor). But in my opinion, i just like the 1st gens the best.
I'd say check your spark plugs, and when those are changed, ride it about 60 in third or fourth gear just to clean your carbs out. Always seemed to me that if you get the old motor moving, you probably wont have too many problems.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Here in town, the leaves fall off the trees onto the road and the town doesn't clean them up. Well we had a pretty wet fall so far, so i was riding around a corner and it slipped on me. I cought my bike, though, and picked it back up, but I know EXACTLY what you're talking about.
Okay, so I am new to this site. I am 16 and ride a 1985 Yamaha Venture Royale. I was just thinking that I am probably one of the youngest kids out there who actually have bought one of these themselves.
If your son or daughter has purchased a Venture, and they're 16 or younger, let me know:080402gudl_prv:
