  1. That one on the left looks pretty good really
  2. Also the r&r itself was very hot. But it's located pretty close to the exhaust
  3. Hey guys, so over the winter I installed Ricks stator and R&R upgrades. Put about 600 miles on since then and everything was going fine until today when I got about 5 miles out of town I noticed my voltage dropped. I turned around on on the way back it went back up to normal, right above the line. A few miles later it was back down again. I parked it in the garage and when I put the voltmeter on it was getting about 12.8 V. I felt the wires green and red wires that plug into the red and black and they were extremely hot down to the R&R. I let the bike cool for awhile and when I came out and started it agian the bike was charging as usual. I took it about 5 miles down the road again and yeah, same symptoms. The wires to it feel really hot. I put the R&R close to where it originally was but do I need to sand all the paint off that area? Any tips at all would be appreciated since I'm supposed to be taking the nephews with my dad on a campling trip on the 26th. Please Help!!!!
  4. Things will settle down and you'll be able to put everything in your head in the right order. Each day will pass by a little smoother than the last, just be sure to let yourself feel all of your emotions. And @Condor ... i am SO sorry to hear that. Like puc said that's painful to even read. You're a strong dude, and in dark times i hope i can think about strong people that got through them like you
  5. The original rocket 3s are tons of fun. Unfortunately, they had bad trannys in them until 08. Dad picked up one from Washington with a bad tranny and only 10k miles. Hope they don't have any issues like that any more
  6. I don't know why I never got back to you on this but I know that exact spot in the badlands your talking about! And youre talking about Sundance, I believe. That little town on the interstate. I'm going to have to try that route. Me and dad are taking my nephews (passed brother's sons) out on a camping trip to the hills in about 2 weeks and I know dad wont do the gravel, but maybe I'll take one of the boys. I think they'd really like going off the beaten path! Superman never asked no police for permission. He should be thankful you were so kind!
  7. I've never used nor know anyone who's ever used it. But my suggestion is to keep your RSV. You'll find yourself missing the fairing and radio and all your dudads.
  8. My dad had a Ram. Probably an 04 with the Hemi. It was the newer body style. Anyways it was a nice truck on the inside but they're revvy. If you're gonna get a truck invest in a 2500 Ram Diesel. Dad has one with 250k miles on it and the body and interior are in amazing shape. As far as gassers go, I've never owned a truck newer than 97. I had a 97 F150 with a 4.6 for awhile. Thought I blew a head gasket on it but it turns out theres an oil cooler that could have possibly been leaking oil into the cooling system. Either way it would get bubbles in the coolant and smelled like gas and I drove that truck for thousands of miles like that. Worst thing about that was the heater didn't work because of that specific problem. The AC kicked ass in it though. I found that that F150 could turn sharper than my new truck which is a 97 Silverado with a 5.7 I absolutely love this 350 Vortec. Tons of pull with power to spare and it shifts super smooth. Rarely if ever shifts on hills with the cruise set but this truck is as rusted out as my ford. I bought it for 800 bucks with a bad rear end and put a junk yard one it in that hows real bad. I need to get this one fixed soon but maybe this is a sign that these chevy's don't have the best axles? This is just my experience with pickups. I think the late 90s ones are nice because they're still easy to work on
  9. Thank you for sharing these pics of you guys on the scoots. This really brought back memories of me and my brother riding together. I sure wish we could've gotten more time in. Thinking about you guys puc. Take Care
  10. Dang she sure is a beauty!
  11. Keeping you, your family, and especially your brother in our thoughts! I'm glad to hear they're keeping him comfortable as well. Take it easy Brother Puc!
  12. You can still get new motor mounts for my 88 Found them on partsfish.com under crank case
  13. I think that bike haul looks like the real deal. Did ya ask him how many ventures he shipped?
  14. Nothing to be sorry for! I've got pretty boring topics, so I dont mind you guys throwing some interesting color on these topics. He's looking through USHIP and bikehaul at the moment. I told him about palleting it etc, but its his dads and I dont think he's gonna pallet it for us. I told him he could fly me out there and I'll drive it home, but again, he sure didnt seem too interested in that. Hell he even refused me the third fourth and fifth times I asked him! We'll see what he ends up doing to get it back here.
  15. Hey guys. A work buddy would like to ship his dad's harley from California to Nebraska. Neither of us have ever shipped a bike before so I'm not really sure how to advize him. Have you guys ever shipped a bike? What companies are reliable? Anything or anyone he should look out for?
  16. Here in Wayne, NE we got a thunderstorm with hail. 30 miles west in Randolph they got 2 inches of snow.... i guess @Flyinfool must be tweekin the mixture nozzles around on that white wash machine. Glad to see you're stuck with us for awhile longer!
  17. I'd take a $7000 vmax
  18. Nope sorry! I liked that stuff so much there aint none left!!
  19. Yup that's what i did. Cleaned em up and RTVd the crap outa them
  20. Well I buttoned everything back up yesterday. Wired the Stator directly into the R&R but kept the plug for the R&R to the rest of the bike. So about 18 hours later I called dad to go out and run it for about 20 minutes because I was terrified those wire plugs were gonna leak. He said he run it for 20 minutes with no oil on the floor so it must be successful! Thanks guys!!
  21. Gonna miss ya @MiCarl ! You sure you wanna leave us?!?!
  22. Awesome thanks so much! I'll check resistances across the 3 wires from the stator tomorrow to satiate my curiosity. Everything else went real smooth. It only took a few minutes to get the rotor off. I'd tighten the puller then whack the puller on its bolt. Figured the shock would be going through the crankshaft instead of the rotor. I'll look at the R&R tomorrow to see if the color codes on the wires are different but I'm pretty sure they're the same as are the ones on the bike. I'm going to solder the new Regulator in to the old one's plug and I'll have to drill a hole to mount the regulator. I found that E-6000 that you were talking about at the Dollar Store for about 4 bucks and yeah I have to say that I'll be using that on just about everything now. I'll do a write up over everything I've done to the bike when I finally get her all buttoned back up!
  23. Yeah I'm gonna call ricks first thing tomorrow and get ahold of boss bearings about the regulator. I wonder if anyone's done the ricks stator upgrade
  24. Hey guys. I'm in the middlle of installing Rick's Stator and it doesn't have the plug attatched to the wires. There are 3 wires, all yellow that come out of the stator and go into the same colored wires on the R & R. Are they interchangeable? Does it matter which one goes where? Also on the R and R there are 2 green and two red wires and the old one had 2 red and 2 black. Can i switch the two reds and blacks around, or do they ahve to go to the exact same slot. Any help would be VERY much appreciated
  25. Had a similar situation with the current 88 that i have. I wrecked my 99 and was looking for a first gen because i missed it. Found my current bike and saw the photos. Talked to the guy several times. Said he moved out to Montana and the bike is at his buddy's in Ohio. Hasn't run in a few years and he only put like 3k miles on it in the 7 years he owned it. Said he was the second owner and the body is in GREAT shape. Asked a pretty high price on it that i agreed to and drove from Randolph Nebraska to Cleveland Ohio to get this bike. Got there and every piece of plastic had some sort of break. The drilled a hole in the trunkand wired a lawn mower battery to the actual battery. Ran like crap which i expected. It was covered in cat prints and only 1 speaker worked. I told that guy that his buddy is a crook as the guy who was actually selling the bike was 2k miles away but since i invested so much to get it we took it anyways. I've done a ton of work to her but she's been an amazing machine for me. I just wish i could get my hands on that dude
