Where exactly is the front plug located? I just purchased 2 83s with CB's and i cant seem to find the front helmet plug. The back one is located in the same place as it was on my 85 i used to have. I havent dug into it much, but i plan on tearing both bikes apart to make one good bike. Also there is no push to talk switch for the CB. I'm just a little confused on how that works too, but any information would be much appreciated. Thank you CJ

i just took the pressure out of the rear caliper, removed it, fit a flat head screwdriver in it and twist the 2 apart. I had to be pretty careful not to get brake fluid all over. Put the caliper back on, tightened the bleeder nut and took off. It was a really nice day! I should almost post this in the tech talk

Well i decided to take one of my 2 new bikes out for a good long test ride today. Went over 200 miles and the bike ran flawlessly, minus the rear master cylinder seizing up and almost burning out my back brake. Only got 34 mpg though.

Better Venture / Goldwing Comparision for your Specific year
Chaharly replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
My old man has always had a series of motorcycles since well before i was born. He has had anything between Kawasaki Voyagers, to Ventures, to every model of goldwing available. (He never did like the 12s though, the only Gold Wing i havent ridden on) Of course by riding i dont mean piloting, but riding on the back, I am only 18 mind you. But i've ridden a 1000 Gold Wing, a 1500, an 1800, and a 1200 venture. (If we're just counting Touring Bikes) I always liked the ventures the most because of their style, comfort, and the fact that they are different from the norm. My favorite gold wings are the 1800's because they feel much sportier than the 1500's but are a little bit stiffer. The way the engine is placed in the goldwing gives them a low, swaying bag type of feeling. I like the Venture because, although they are top heavy, they are much, much more agile than the Goldwings. Also on a long ride, i believe they are more comfortable as well. That is my apples to apples opinion -
I'm very impressed! I hope that it goes well for the family. This is an incredible story!!!!

1st Gen Venture with EFi?

Its the Fuel injection that can make the difference. You can make a 302 push 600 horses if you have the right injection kit on it -

Cruise Control Install on 83 Royale

Well if you are willing to get rid of those parts I am willing to buy. How much are you asking? -

I sold my 85 Venture Royale with the two tone brown paint about 2 years ago, and basically completely quit using the site. Well im back in the Venture saddle again Im purchasing 2 identical 2 tone gold 83 Royales. I purchased both with a total price of $1000!!! One has 65,000 miles and the other has 28,000. The one with 28k doesnt drive because the carburator is plugged, and I intend to ride the one with 65K home. I believe i came across a great deal. The one with more miles needs a speedometer cable and 2nd gear is out of it, which i intend to repair. It also has a bad rear master cylinder. It has the Radio deck and CB with the electronic air shocks, but the back one you have to pump up with a compressor. The one with less miles needs a few pieces to put back together, a carb rebuild (which i intend to do). I will also replace the 2nd gear clip in this transmission too, before it can go bad. It also needs a rear master cylinder and a rear tire. Neither of these bikes has cruise, which I intend to fix. But i plan on putting the better of the two parts onto one bike with less miles and have 1 really nice venture, and the other a "bad weather venture" or sell it for more than what i bought both bikes for. I have a few pictures of the bikes, if anyone wants to see.

I recently picked up 2 identical gold Venture 1200's for $1000. I was pretty excited with my purchase since only 1 thing that was wrong really caught my eye. Neither of them have the cruise control like my 85 1200 did. I was wondering if it would be possible to get the necessary parts from a newer venture, or even buy the royale star venture cruise to modify to work for my bike. I have a spare wiring harness that was designed for the CB but i do not know if it has the correct plug for the cruise control. Any information or if anyone has done this and could lend me some advice would be much appreciated!!! Thank you! -CJ

Hello guys, its been a long time since I've been on a bike, or even ridden a venture! Well after going through a yamaha v-star 650 and a honda shadow 1100, i'm again looking to trade for a venture. This time i'm getting a 1300 hundred because i would like more options and better transmission. Dad bought a royale star tour deluxe and it really made me want my venture back but hey guys, im back in the saddle again

I am selling my bike for 3K. Its an 85 VR with all the trimmins with 39,000 mi. on it. I love it, but i want something that more suits my age, i'll enjoy a new venture when i have the time and money to enjoy one. Right now, I'm keeping it in the family and getting a V-Star. 3K is alot, so you can tell how much i want to sell it. I'll probably be enjoying this bike for awhile longer!

Going to the east coast and back, gonna be a sleepless voyage. Getting $500, and not getting any hotels or camping just gonna eat at Mc. Donalds, gotta save the cash... should be an adventure!

I like break 30, not beer 30. If anyone gets that, then your pretty smart!

About %30 of the time when i press my rear shock button. It reads zero, when i press the "M" button to fill it up to about 50, it goes up to 50 really fast on the computer, but not in the shock itself. It does it alot more frequently in the cold. What does this? also after pressing the M and it "fills" when i press the rear button again it says 15 and does it over.... i have an 85 venture royale... anyone know what to do?
