I Think saddlebum said it best. I actually copied the first part and posted it as my status on facebook as "motorcycle tip of the day" I hope you don't mind, I'll take it down if need be!! He knew he messed up, he was just on the defensive cuz I'm sure his adrenalin was going and he was embarrassed. We got the bikes back to his place and he felt really bad. He said he felt really bad about the bike. I told him the bike is just a beater... Its already got road rash on it from the PO and actually been repainted before. Who knows how many times that things slid across the ground. I told him that I was glad he's alright and I don't want to see it happen again, explained that gravel on pavement is marbles on glass, and he just didn't think FROM INEXPERIENCE not to lean coming onto gravel like that. Plus just like puc said... I'm sure glad he dropped MY bike and not the other way around As far as the bike goes. Its just fine, just ugly now!!! Its my wheelie machine... I bought it to beat it!!!

I wonder if there could be an option for paid members to post that they have parts for sale in the forums, but change the type of Thread it is so it only stays up for 21 days etc. That would keep the forums from being cluttered, because they would delete themselves, and only members would be able to post or see them. I agree with puc that stuff comes up in conversation and I've sold a lot of stuff that way. I like the way the classified section is set up, and I still definitely see people continuing to use it. I never post anything for sale, but I'm always looking for parts! Whatever you do is fine with me!

Hey guys! Been letting my good friend practice riding on the 919. We were out for a cruise last night and I was letting him lead. Well in our town there's a gravel road that goes past the fair grounds that we've gone up and down a few times. Until that night we had ridden it south to north where we had to stop at a stop sign before getting on the dirt road. He decided he wanted to ride it north to south coming off the highway. He was leaning into the turn going 15 or so and before it happened I knee it was gonna slide out. Sure enough the ass end slide out around the front wheel and down he goes... I gave him a good ass chewing about riding slow at night and when I tell him to slow down I mean it. I told him you can't lean on gravel like that, especially Iowa white rock gravel. Even on a dirt bike he wouldve laid it over on that gravel. I told him not to lift the bike up until we know he's not hurt. He told me I'm WAY too over cautious about things... I told him over cautious never sent me sliding across an intersection... Turns out he's alright, just real sore at work today. Moral of the story... be safe guys... I'll post some pics later

Hello, new here. Have a question about the ride height on my VR.

I would definitely talk to Rick. You'll probably have better luck narrowing the seat for better reach -
Hopped onto my favorite parts site and they changed it. I can't figure out how to but motorcycle stuff anymore

Really the heat thing has never been an issue for me. If you don't have the side panel vents on the First Gen Ventures they'll absolutely cook your legs if the winded catches you right. Though with the vents installed, on cool fifty degree mornings you can open them up and the heat just seems to rise right up to your inner thighs and the back of your knees and just keeps ya perfect! I personally love having a motor throw off a little heat, especially when I leave in shorts at 1 in the afternoon and its 80F and when I leave at 1 in the morning its 50F! I'm waiting for a local demo event and I'm going to be pushing for a little demo time on the new Star Venture!

It looks like it'll hold pretty well. I see my local Bomgaars sells master links. Don't know if it will make a difference since mine is an X-Ring chain or not -
No issues with dragging pegs? I read a review involving the Harley Road Glide and the Indian Road Master and it claimed that the pegs drug ground first on the Yamaha. I know I never had a problem dragging pegs, but I one time got my toes stuck between the road and the foot peg. That was a scary AND painful lesson! Heres a link for the article for reference http://ridermagazine.com/2018/04/06/2018-harley-road-glide-ultra-vs-indian-roadmaster-vs-yamaha-star-venture-tc-comparo-review/

I watched a video that said I should not use the clip style master link. They said they've had cases where they've come apart and damaged the motor or locked up the rear wheel. I don't have the riveting tool or the rivet style master link, so I guess it'll be awhile til it gets its new link Heres a video of the clip style link going together. Doesn't look too safe https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=clip+style+master+link&&view=detail&mid=542E7BEA8E0A6FCAE784542E7BEA8E0A6FCAE784&&FORM=VRDGAR -
Well I had the fairing off over the winter and did some repairs on it. While I was in there I separated all of the electric plugs, including the plugs to the CMU and cleaned and treated with White Lithium Grease. Also I lubed the throttle cable while I was in there. While I had the plastic off I did the Acetone fix on most of it, but of course after 20 years of sagging in a certain direction some of that plastic decided it wasn't too into the idea of being solidly mounted back up. So I'm fixing that today. Also, I found my leak in the front tire. I guess its time to kill this tire prematurely...

Well, I got my new chain and sprockets for my CB 919. Ive never changed a chain before, though I'm sure its fairly straight forward. I'm only really confused on the link that you put together. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the chain just came covered in sawdust... Is this to pull the moisture off of the chain? Ive read that you need a special tool, but mine looks like it just slips on?

Have you given the rear master a few raps with a little hammer and punch? You might get just lucky enough for the little level sensor to break free. -

I believe that warning is coming from the rear brake master cylinder. As far as the weak low beam, is it possible you've got the wrong headlight in, or the power to the low beam damaged at all -

I'll be removing the glass fuse panel soon as well. One of the holders is busted away from the plastic case
