idle and sync issues?

I was told that over cranking would wash away the oil on the rings and possibly lower compression, but i would assume higher compression is from carbon on pistons and valves -
Hey guys, just read this on facebook and I dont have any real good way of sharing it there but I found this on the Yamaha Royal Star Venture Royal Star Tour Deluxe page on Facebook. I'm just copying and pasting Just passing on this info due to you probably receiving false or misleading info from the media: Harley-Davidson of Bloomington 9 hrs · There has been a lot of fake and mistaken accusations concerning HD in the news the past couple of days. Here is the truth, if you are interested in the truth. Harley-Davidson's Message to its dealers. Dear Dealers: I’d like to take this opportunity to give you some additional perspective on our response to the tariffs being imposed by the EU and clarify some inaccuracies that have been reported in the media. For the detail on our decision I encourage you to read the announcement we shared yesterday here on H-Dnet. You can find a link below. *****************************************************************************To clarify, we are not moving our Kansas City production to Thailand. Our Kansas City plant is being consolidated into our state-of-the art plant in York, PA. This decision was based on our need to address excess capacity we have in the U.S. Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold in the U.S. will continue to be made in the U.S. Harley-Davidson motorcycles will not be imported into the U.S. from international facilities. ***************************************************************************** On June 22, 2018, the European Union enacted tariffs on various U.S. manufactured products including Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The increased EU tariff from 6% to 31% results in an incremental cost of approximately $2,200 per average motorcycle exported from the U.S. to the EU. We do not feel it is acceptable to pass that additional cost on to our dealers or the retail customer and therefore have chosen to take the actions outlined in our 8-k. As we’ve said before, increasing international production to alleviate the EU tariff burden is not our preference, and we are hopeful the EU governments will continue to work to reach an agreement on trade issues and rescind these tariffs, so we do not have to take these extraordinary steps. This decision was made after very carefully weighing our options and choosing the best decision for our riders, our dealers, our business and brand. As a dealer you are among the greatest advocates for Harley-Davidson. And I share this clarification with you because you can help relay our position and our intention when you’re asked about it, from your customers, your teams, your friends and family. It’s unfortunate that the real facts are not always reported on, and it’s important to us that you know and understand the facts. Thank you for your continued commitment to our great brand. Regards, Dave Cotteleer VP and Managing Director, U.S. Sales

Hey guys, Got the motion pro bead pro tire spoons in the mail the other day and finally got to try them on that old Elite 4 on the front. What an awesome set of spoons! It took ten minutes to have the tire off and on the second time... I say second time because I put the tire on backwards the first time..... Anyways went with the sticky 1/4 ounce weights and balanced out the tire. I made sure to line the mark up with the valve stem, but it took 3 and 1/4 ounce of weight to balance out. Thats 6 weights on the road side and 7 on the curb side. They're pretty close to the valve stem as well, which I guess would make sense because that would be the lightest part of the rim, and I can run 100mph smilin at the camera with a toothpick in my mouth and you can still read the brand of Cigerettes that I've got tucked in my T-Shirt sleeve , but DANG doesn't 3 and 1/4 ounce seem like a lot of weight?

idle and sync issues?

Heres what I'd do. Take a Bic lighter and run it around anywhere on the exhaust that there could possibly be a leak and go real, real slow. Check where the headers go into the motor, and check where your slip on exhaust goes on. Go real, real slow and if you see a draft moving the flame, well there's where you're getting air into the exhaust. I also believe these exhausts have a drain hole on each side to let out accumulated moisture. I'll go check in a second, but if those drain holes are rusted out to bigger than what they should be then you can assume your exhaust is sucking too much cold air and causing backfiring and popping and blubbing. That's what it sounded like to me, but of course I am NOOO expert! I only know what I know from the fellas here! -
I Think i have an extra set of progressives

Hey guys! I needed to get a new clutch cover for the 88 and i figured since I'd have it off the bike I'd hit it with a fine brass wire wheel. It turned out great, and really pops on the bike.... That being said I now have to do the rest of the motor, because it sticks out like the only non sore thumb on a totally broken hand!

That's just barely broke in! I've got just shy of 50k on mine and it is my touring bike. I'll take it anywhere! I'm aiming for at least 250k miles before I'm done with her

I guess if I would've looked a little closer at the pictures I would have seen the pellets! When I was I high school we drove around one day and took the pellet gun to the local varmints (rabbits, sick feral cats, and the like) I thought we were doing the city a favor, but the little old ladies who kept calling my dad (the town cop) didn't think so. I got that pellet gun taken away from me for that one!

Hey guys! Had a headlight fuse mount brake the other day so it's time to replace the fuse block. I found this one on Amazon. Think it'll last https://www.amazon.com/WUPP-Warning-Indicator-Damp-Proof-Terminal/dp/B074W5S14V?keywords=5+spade+car+fuse+block&qid=1529246350&sr=1-1-catcorr-spons&ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa&psc=1

Will these spark plug caps work?
Chaharly replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'll have to look into this! I've got good spark and the bike runs great, but the rubber that meets the motor is totally shot. There's hardly any rubbery there. Maybe I can check resistances and clean as you stated, and just replace the rubbers -

VideoArizona,, did you make it home yet?? You ok out there?

Those Dogface trucks sort of remind me of my 94 F-150. The wind pushing on that truck was almost like someone was literally dragging on the brakes. I try to let them fellas have their room when they go by. That's crazy that it would slow you down enough to knock your cruise off. I never had that issue on my 99. I wonder if all 5 of your throttle cables are adjusted within spec. If you have a delay when you first switch your cruise on you've got too much slack in them lines! It should almost pull the throttle away from you when you set it! The big thing is to not get blown off the road or get a face full of gravel! Ouch! Its funny how those little details sort of make the trip eh? I'll have to run my MKII Venny against his MKI so we can finally settle these speed wars, though I cant help but thing that if @cowpuc was wrenching on it, there's probably something done to it to make it a little faster!!! He is a old school wrench head after all! -
Yessir, had the wind to my back about a week before i put the E4 and was 120mph in 5th smooth as butter:amen:

And this is why ALL motorcycles get a bad wrap

It would certainly require a huge shift in driver and rider mentality to be safely done in mass. Although, I do believe that there are times when it is acceptable, and possibly safer to squeeze around a vehicle or through 2 parked people that aren't paying attention. 90% of time when people would lane split it would be unnecessary and I could see people getting hurt
