Thats a hell of start to get back on after your shoulder surgery! I'm sending it in not for the patch but I would like to hang the certification in my office. But I agree, it'll probably be one and done. 700-800 mile days are no problem. I dont ride much over 70mph on my old Venture, so that's a full day of riding anyway. I like to stop and see things, smell the roses, get off and walk, and have a nice big lunch

Thank ya! It's something I can cross off my list, though I'm really not a fan of riding at dark, so it'll probably be a one-and-done!

I will agree on avoiding high-output stators. I got like 5k miles on mine. I was then frustrated and bought a 30 dollar one from Amazon and got like 20k or more miles out of it. Now I'm running a Rick's stator. 10-15k miles on it so far and working good. We'll see how long it lasts.

Hey guys! Friday I took off from Omaha, Nebraska and road down Highway 75 to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I then went southeast to Van Buren, Arkansas, and then from Van Buren to Crescent Iowa on I40 to I49 to I29. (I went to crescent because I was going to be about 8 miles short for the full 1000 miles). I took off at about 3:15AM and got home a little after 10:00PM. It was 102 degrees in Omaha that day, and low to mid-90s in Oklahoma and Arkansas and muggy. I could have done it a little faster, but I took more breaks because of the heat. I had a tremendous headwind going south and an even stronger tail wind going home. If you've never been on I49 coming north from Fayetteville, it is a beautiful stretch of interstate. The 1988 Yamaha Venture, of course, performed flawlessly. I got poor mileage on the way down and great mileage on the way up! My start mileage was 104,331.8 and my ending mileage was 105,344.4. I still have to get the paperwork sent in to be verified

I didnt keep track of the CWS this year, but I'm sure they had quite the crowd!!

Well I hope at the very least you can get out in the morning and enjoy some of the cooler weather. Planning on an Iron Butt this weekend. Omaha to Tahlequa and back. Gonna be about 97 here in Omaha

Thats a big group of bikes! Tons of trouble there

Morning guys. Got to go out for a Father's Day ride yesterday. About 230 miles. Fiddled with the bike on Saturday, messed with the pilot jets and realized that the lower hose that connects the breather box to the crank was disconnected. Rode about 67mph with a light crosswind from the south and got 41.25mpg on the bike. I'm pretty impressed with that. Thinking about doing an Iron Butt this Saturday. I wont be able to go on any long trips with the kiddo at home, but I talked to the missus and she's fine with me disappearing for a day to do one. Going to ride from Omaha to Duluth and back is the plan!

We're sure proud of our little guy! Thanks everyone

Morning! Got the bike out for an actual ride on Sunday. Only put about 150 miles on, but it sure felt nice. I'm having a pilot jet slightly plugged on one of my cylinders though, so some work will come my way I guess.

Thanks guys! Yes! Much to his mother's chagrin, I'm already looking at starter dirt bikes for him! Though for now, he's really stealing MY riding time! But it's definitely worth it!

Hey guys! It’s been a little bit since I posted, but I just wanted to give an update. My first son was born May, 11th on Mother’s Day. My lady’s water broke in March at 27 weeks and she was stuck in the hospital for 7 weeks until Little Man was 34 weeks. At 34 weeks they performed a c-section and William Alonzo Umberger-Valencia was born at 5lbs 6.4oz and 18 inches long. He has been doing really well and hasn’t needed any oxygen or any extended care. He spent about three weeks in the NICU and we finally got to bring him home Saturday. He’s a sweet little boy, and we are so grateful that he’s going as good as he is and he is as cute as he is!

Sunday, May 11th, which is Mother's Day will be the day that my first baby is coming! We've been in the hospital for 7 weeks due to my woman's water breaking at 27 weeks. He'll be 34 weeks this Sunday when she has her C-Section operation. His name is going to be William Alonzo Umberger-Valencia. Pics to follow!

They Look pretty good on there! Let us know how you like them!

Was it just plug and play for the LED bulb?

I've been riding off and on all year, some of those mornings were in the mid 20's going to work, but around 50 on the way home. Mind you, I only live about 5 miles from work, so it's not intense by any means. I was finally able to get the passenger backrest mounted on the trunk this weekend, so it felt great after not being able to ride for four weeks. Grass is looking green here finally too and we're getting some rain.

Silly question. Tire Balance???
-
It'll make that first cut feel so much more impactful when it comes time to finally do it!
-
Time to put the studs on the tires!
-
We’re starting to get the signs of spring, but I haven’t heard mowers here yet!
-
What’s your location? Seems a lot of the country, especially out eastbound is getting really nailed.
-
It's been quiet on here. Thanks for keeping this going! I'm not very good about the daily check ins, so sorry about the absence! I wont be riding for awhile. My lady's water broke at 27 weeks so I've been staying at the hospital with her after work. She and the baby are healthy, we're just playing the waiting game and hoping to keep him in her for another 7 weeks.

How to fix lean surge

The book says to test the float level while the bike is running and on the center stand. Try that before you tear everything apart! -

Yeah I’d just start with turning the pilots out 1/8 of a turn at a time. When you have time put 120 miles on it and check your mileage. I had similar symptoms to the lean surge but mine was rich. Let us Know what you find out! -

Hey there! I've seen your bike posted on one of the facebook groups sometimes. Before you get too crazy re-adjusting idle screws etc, did you replace the jets from the 1300 carbs to the 1200 carb jet sizes? Some of the jets are different. There's a chart somewhere on this page that has different jet sizes for different years etc. If your jet sizes are okay, you may need to turn your pilot screws out an eighth turn at a time until it quits, that will richen the mixture. Also, in my experience, I believe that I have an air leak at from the boots that go from the airbox to the carburetors on the bottom side. That might be leaning you out as well. Another thing to think about. If you're running stock main jets from your 1200 carbs, your emulsion tubes may be worn out of spec. The needle rubs against them and can oblong them. Maybe you're actually running a little too rich. You can get some smaller thickness washers ( I dont remember the size i replaced mine with) and drop those needles a little more into the emulsion tubes to lean it out and see what you get there. What are you getting for fuel consumption??
