  1. I use an older n-100 Nolan flip-face and like it a lot. Always did like Nolan. Then I got a brand new Nolan 3/4 for the boss, on eBay. Must have been a bad batch or fakes from China! The slightest tap and the silver paint would just peel like crazy. It just looks awful - so we got her a different one. Anyone else run into this? I'm not talking scratches - the crappy paint actually peels off.
  2. 1979 Honda CB750K - the one that popped my cherry and one that still seems to set parameters for what appeals to me... Like the shape of the tank, or the 4-in-4, or the wire wheels. Memories... 1981 Kawasaki 1100 Sold to buy a snowblower. Pathetic. On to minivans for a few years. 1984 and 1985 Honda(s) 1100 Sabre. 1999 BMW K1200LT 2003 BMW K1200LT Relatively rare. Just like the dealerships - closest to me is two hours away. 2008 Venture. Current ride. Bought it late in the fall so we haven't bonded yet...
  3. Exactly the bike I got, 2008. Love the color scheme. Bought it on eBay late fall for 10,400 plus 500 for shipping. From a great dealer in Jolliet, Il, who was quite helpful with it all. Never mind saving the cash up! Now's the time, in the deep of winter...
  4. I just wait for the Ground-dog day. There is a dog outside, leg lifted, frozen to a fire hydrant. Once he falls to the ground, it's riding time again. BTW Vic Venture: "Drink Canada Dry" is NOT a suggestion. It's an ad for a soft-drink product. I've heard of people who've mis-read it, and are still trying to drink this country dry.
  5. When my son, early twenties, showed no interest in bikes...........I was relieved. Weird, but true.
  6. +1 on the wandering. We had one, a male (repaired). (OK: fixed). So it wasn't lust that made him wander but that darn nose. They get on a scent....and adios. But you seem to have that covered. Many a stranger pulled into the yard dropping him off. Otherwise, quite a character.
  7. Thanks, YM! Great thread for getting some ideas, too. I just got into the Venture so the field is wide open. Let's see: - I'll take that Monica, too, I guess, whoever that is, unless her last name is Lewinski. - GPS - Passing lamps! I really think it adds to the overall look. - Headsets - Cassette player! Oh wait. Never mind. Belay that one. - MP3 player or something, for portable tunes. MOST URGENT and important to me: a decent cup holder. I'm addicted to Tim Horton's coffee. All that, and some decent weather...Nirvana. The 3-week riding season here is killing me.
  8. Meh. The decade stuff is all over the place, on-line, in the papers. So gopher it and enjoy reflecting. On a grander scale, there was all that 'new century' stuff...a decade ago. A year early, but people just chose to accept it as the date and enjoy the big benchmark in time. The only thing that bugs me about time....is that these days a decade seems like a year, at best. Must be the getting old thing. Tempus fugit so darned fast!
  9. (cough-cough) Since nobody wants to say it: Hate to break it to you folks, but the decade ends at the end of next year... New decade begins January 1, 2011
  10. So THAT's what I saw tonight! The first one (in the lead) seemed a lot brighter/bigger than the chaser one. Wow!! If I got my directions right they were racing west to east, or some such.
  11. Quick question: does one need something else, besides the 2-inch connectors, to mount the exhaust? Saw something mentioned about a bracket... Thanks
  12. 300364426365. Number was transcribed wrong. Judging by the feedback, should be OK....
  13. Looks like BOTH listing numbers have been "removed". Too weird. What was the seller's feedback like?
