I am not sure how the new Venture is but with my Harley I must be on what ever I am trying to adjust the volume on. in other words if you are listening to music that is what you are adjusting, try this get your wife to start talking into the mic and then while she is still talking adjust your volume. If I am using the CB radio I always lower the squelch until it is constant and then adjust my volume to where I want it, after that I put the squelch back.

the gear or Bendix on top of the starter is plastic and if you have never had a problem with it before, then I would at least check it and a two year old battery could be a problem also. connect a know good battery to it and see if it makes a difference.

Every year I see the pictures from maintenance day and I say darn it I'M going next year and one day Mr. Freebird I'm gonna make. but right now this work crap gets getting in the way. Looks like a great time was had.
