  1. papa, you can put the RK pipes on stock and they will sound close to stock. Slight deeper tone. If you do the full modification on the pipes they will increase deep tone but it is still mellow. They will not interfere with your sounds (music).
  2. Listen to Cowpuc. Exact same plan happened to me. We reached into a jar for key to win Ford truck. Noticed all the keys were the same. Asked about some brand names, didn' supply. Most big manufacturers would never sell to a business like this only to lose business with large number of retailers around country. Wanted to sign me up for membership for only $5000.00
  3. Condor, just curious how you know it's made in us. I heard it was a good battery so I called the company (East Penn) to find local dealer and get specs. Told them I heard it was made in usa which is rare for mc batteries. They said yes. I purchased one locally and noticed at the counter the box said made in taiwan. Told the dealer I was told it was made in us. He said maybe the box was made there. Got it home paperwork inside showing how to fill battery said at bottom made in taiwan by Yeng Sen battery. Puzzled? The battery does have a big Deka lable on it. Never called them back, should just curious.
  4. GlennTuc, don't know about insurance claim with you but interesting story from my daughter. She was on I-74 and a 2 ft 2/4 flew up in front of her hit the grill and punctured the condenser. Apparently the car in front of her hit the 2/4 making it airborne to hit her. Called insurance ( Allstate ) and stated what happened. Agent asked if she ran over 2/4 or if it was airborne? She said it fell off another vehicle or was kicked up and was airborne. Agent said it made a difference because if she ran over it, it would be covered under collision, if hit in air, then it would be comprehensive. In a soft tone he said you always want to say it was airborne or fell off vehicle. Quite often your deductible is lower on comp and depending on your insurance company may increase rates or at least show one more collision on your record if claimed on collision. Interesting story I thought. Good luck
  5. 05RSMVTEXAN, if you going to modify your lighter circuit you might consider #14 awg wire and 15 amp fuse liked mentioned, but wire it directly back to battery, via fuse block by battery. This will eliminate the ignition switch turn on as well as the high current. The other advantage is that the lighter circuit is always hot and now you can make adapter or wire direct, a male lighter plug to your battery tender or adapter for standard battery charge to charge battery.
  6. common problem with low fuel lt. not working is bad fuel sending unit. Most of the time the gage portion still works.
  7. Cecdoo, the running light wire is blue, the brake light wire is yellow.
  8. Amazing. What is the theory, a trick on the eye's, brain or both. Appreciate the shots and in the future show more or web sight. Thanks
  9. Don, just plug the Zumo into home stereo or boom box to check delays, volume adjust, etc in comfort of home. Run simulate route to check delay. Good Luck
  10. The low end GPS work well and for most folk's it's all you need. A couple friends have different brands and again they work fine. I have the Garmin 250w and will recommend two things. One thing is to get large screen, but more important is to make sure it does route imports. My Garmin as well as the other Garmin low ends do not allow to transfer self made routes generated on Mapquest, Google, Harley trip map, etc. only poi's etc. I think this is an important feature. I agree with Cecdoo, the Garmin 750 is a good choice and good pricing on internet and some stores.
  11. Excellent thread, thanks.
  12. Brake Pad, I'm running stock size rear Metzler and notice you have a 180 on but two Metzler reps I talked to in last two months say only two pressures, 45 psi (one up) 50psi (two up). I agree that low pressure should not destroy tire. I had two 2" square pieces come off and got free replacement. This is my third set and like them. Will see how 50psi works, 6k on now.
  13. Notice you are in Ohio near Columbus. I would think there are shops in Columbus. Call some custom bike shops in area or car custom shops, they can help. Go to local car show's and they can help. I use a place in Dayton, Ohio, Larry Blakley does steel, aluminum, and pot metal, also all polish stainless, aluminum etc. (937) 274-8448. Your right polished aluminum is only temporary.
  14. Just curious about rear lighting, turn signals, brake and running. Have a safe trip.
  15. I have been riding almost 2 years without oil in shock. No problem.
  16. Hey, can't argue with that backrest. With that backrest I might just eliminate the bars, period.
  17. I agree with Squidley. I was talking to Avon Rep. couple weeks ago. He rides a Harley Ultra and has a 150/90/16 on it basically same tire size on as RSV (150/90/15) He said he always runs 48 psi in rear.
  18. Condor, appreciate the info. Like I stated I understood they were thicker from another person. Thicker or thinner, the info I stated in reference to charging Odyssey or any other battery is still correct.
  19. My wife is 5' 9" and it is not in her way if that is what you mean. There is a little plus in that it has a bag attached to it where I keep riding glasses etc. and she can just reach down and exchange glasses ect. while on the road. Handy.
  20. Reading the post I would just like to clarify some possible confusion. Almost All batteries sold today are of the AGM design for bikes. Charging a AGM battery should be done with a 2 amp charger or set at 2 amp on multible setting chargers except the Odyssey brand. The standard rule for charging all other brands is 10% of the AH rating. RSV take the largest one's at 18 to 20 AH rating. Example, 18 AH battery wants charge rate of 1.8A, 20AH 2amps. As I understand it Odyssey plate design (thicker) is reason for higher charge rate.
  21. Sleeperhawk's mechanic, not to change thread, but to include driver comfort it's interesting that with all the riding you do you mention that you don't have a driver backrest and going on a six thousand trip. To me it is one of the best items to add, short of additional front and rear lights. Funny thing is I would never bought a backrest because of price so wife bought me one year's ago for Christmas. Now would never ride without. Just my opinion. Have a safe and fun trip.
  22. 3.7 qt. without filter. 3.9 qt. with filter.
  23. jrcain32, A Rotella oil change will cost you almost the same as 1qt. of 4T Racing. I pay $9.30 for 1 gal. jug at Sams. Auto stores about $ 10.50 Been using it for six years in my 99. Still hasn't blown up. Also use Purolator filter $2.99
  24. Yes, put the HD electronic throttle on. No more cables.
  25. Dave, 15A fuse will supply 180W of power. Never want to use a fuse at max rating. I try to stay at 80% or less. Those H3 bulbs are rated at 55W. So those two bulbs plus headlight (55W) would be 165W. Would not blow fuse but to close to max fuse rating. Big problem is that it will blow when you use your high beam. You Never want to connect lights to same circuit because if passing lights or headlight shorts ALL the lights go out instead of only the shorted ones. Bad situation. Good Luck.
