Hi All It's been a while since i've checked out the website. Glad to see it is alive and kicking! I wanted to buy the de-link kit for the brakes on my 86 Venture but cannot see them for sale any more. Does anyone know if the kit is available? I understand Skydoc17 was making them but I don't see his profile any more. Thanks for any help Cheers Gary

I think I found the bike to replace my Venture

Can anyone say Valkyrie.... Still the best looking " goldwing" they made. I don't like Hondas new approach to marketing the upsell. Come on, you have to buy the deluxe for a 3 dollar signal light cancel ? I just bought a new Honda CRV and they did the same thing .... Base model does not have variable intermittent wipers. A feature that every car since the Chevette has had as standard for years. Yup had to upgrade to the "EX" to get that.... Jeeze Good thing they make such good vehicles because that almost upset me enough to buy a Ford. LOL. Cheers, Gary -
I think Action Motorcycles is the new dealer for Victory in Victoria. Perhaps to service the new Vic Police bikes. I really like the Cross Country, not quite so "out there" as the Vision. Some day.......

HID headlight installed
islandmech replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I recently installed a 35 watt HID to my '86 venture along with a pair of CustomDynamic sunspot LED driving lights.... holy s..t is this bright. The HID has very nice light pattern with the ist gen headlight lense and the LED's fill in the road in front and side of bike. I am a happy camper. Compared to my previous 55 watt plus 2-55 watt drivers, I have unloaded my alternator by 100 watts. Gary -
Actually... no, Honda, Toyota, VW {gas}. Chevy all the new cars use a chain. On my 08 Honda Civic, the chain is rated... forever. One really has to look at the overall picture when deciding on the complete cost of ownership over the long term {not withstanding you also have to LIKE the car} haha Cheers, Gary

My .25 cents... You will never recoup the cost of buying and maintaining the diesel. The gas version gets around 40mpg {thinking in Canadian gallons} and when you count the additional cost of maintenance on a diesel with the difference in fuel use.... about 250,000 kms to MAYBE break even assuming nothing breaks. I also can't believe they still use a timing belt on these cars... jeeze get with the 90's. I am not biased against diesel vehicles, just do not agree with the premium price and built in additional mntc costs. Cheers, Gary

I'm in for a Wetcoast ride... maybe we should meet somewhere on the Oregon coast, or just come on up to Vancouver Island. Curvey roads and big trees! Cheers, Gary

A little bit off topic.... I am vacationing in Florida for 2 weeks in Feb, in the Cape Haze area {Palm Island} anybody know of a Motorcycle rental place around there ? Are there any events happening around feb1st to the 10th? Thanks, Gary

I bought a Canadian Custom cruisers HID kit for my 86 Venture and I was wondering if anybody has installed one of these on a 1st gen bike? Will it make the headlight warning system trigger?, If so is there a work around for this? Going to work on this over next week so any advice is appreciated Thanks, Gary

Hey Vancouver Island riders. The last week two riders were killed on the Malahat high-way {cars crossing centerline} In case you have not heard there is a ride from Ogden Point to the Parliment Buildings this Saturday. It is an impromtu ride , not organized by any particular group to reinforce the call to divide the highway for the safety of all drivers. Muster up at 3 pm at Ogden, then about 3:30 at the Parliment for some speakers and a moment of silence etc. Cheers, Gary

Does anyone have an ecopy of the 86 VR user manual?
islandmech replied to rstacy's topic in Watering Hole
If possible, put iton a PDF and post it to the site....I am sure others would also like this Cheers -
I am thinking of adding highway pegs to my 86 VR. Just wondering what folks have used for these bikes. The fairings are kind of in the way to stick my legs past but it would be nice to stretch out on the long rides. Pictures? Thanks, Gary Just did a search and found most of the info.....
