Yes, I'm Abby-Normal when compared with most of the world, but I fit right in here! JohnB
  2. just finished buying my Nankang cx668 from Amazon for $68 including shipping. As soon as it gets here... I'll disconnect the Voyager... jack it up... pop the wheel... take it to the dealer (no problem there - lots of Goldwing customers getting CTs mounted)... Then the rest of the maintenance. Whats left??? 3. Well... No matter what, it never ends! I just finished getting a pair of Like New OEM mufflers from Hulk They are just like new & I had them installed in less than 30 minutes. My bike is sooooo quiet now. While I was laying on my back tightening the bolts I saw my Avon Venom rear tire. Not only was it terribly cracking on the side walls... it had a bald spot down to the belts with just 11,000 miles. Argh! So now I have to: change rear tire - going back to the Darkside with a Nanking change the rear drive oil change the motor oil clean up everything on the bike ...just so I can go on a short 1500 mile ride in 2 weeks. ...and of course, I'll enjoy every minute of the work - JUST LIKE ALL OF US DO
  4. 3000 miles more & I love the Voyager even more. No regrets! JohnB
  5. Well, now I'm going back to the DARKSIDE! My bike has a Voyager conversion kit... Avon Venom has worn - terrible cracking - bald spot down to belts... Going to put a Nanking on - should be much better now with conversion kit. JohnB
  6. Here is an update on my Venom... Tire was replaced by Avon... put replacement on & 11000 miles later it looked very bad with incredible sidewall cracking... Adding to that, the tire has worn unevenly... one bald spot to the core belts & good tread else where... My front Venon has 15000 on it - good tread - sidewall cracking - Argh! I'm done with Venoms. JohnB
  7. mileage varies between 30 & 38 depending on speed
  8. Lately with all the browser script problems going on I have been trying to use FireFox as much as possible with an add-on called "NoScript". It has made my internet browsing much safer & controlled.
  9. I also bought a used Voyager Conversion Kit and am very happy with it. I have put about 2500 miles on it so far. JohnB
  10. To do the job right.... always... always... SOLDER! JohnB
  11. Thanks Peterbooth
  12. CJoe, I'll have to let you know about the mileage. I've just been paying attention to the driving changes & thrilled with the ride. No more low speed or parking drops! As soon as the weather let's me ride, I'll check it. I'll use my GPS for the mileage calculated. JohnB
  13. it rides like a trike. Good ride but tough to turn. The cabin next door is a cedar sided house. I & neighbors live on a dead end street that extends on a peninsula into a reservoir. JohnB
  14. Hi Alvald, The way I have recovered is by... 1 no front braking 2 light rear braking 3 Steady decelerating throttle. (Light throttle) By the way, my wobble went away after the rear monoshock was replaced. Before that, I had tried everything else. JohnB
  15. Here is my latest RSV completed project... (MTCVoyager off eBay) http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/member/5/2/e/6/highres_32721222.jpeg JohnB
  16. Hi there; I can't answer your question but... How easy did the tire seat on your rim? Do you know at what pressure it seated? I just put a Voyager kit on & my next tire change will be a CT now. The Kumo was a *****! Thanks, JohnB
  17. Hi Alvald; During my 5800 mile tour in June, I rode a lot at 75-85 with a load of gear. With my full windshield & a corrected speedometer I got right around your mileage with a 2008. I got a little better mileage when I had done the D-Cut in the air intake, but it leaned it out too much & took away from power at high speeds. I restored the intake to factory. JohnB
  18. Thanks, I may message and/or call if I get stuck. Thanks. I did buy the used voyager kit. In two weeks I will be buying the mounting kit for a RSV. JohnB
  19. Hi; Does anyone have an electronic copy of the Voyager RSV Installation Manual? If so, could you send me a copy. I've got a used Voyager kit which came off a HD & need to check over installation before I spend $660 for the hardware & manual from mtcVoyager. In there great wisdom, their support wants me to pay for a copy of the manual, even though I will get a printed copy when I buy the kit in two weeks (when I have the kit money). BTW... anyone have a mounting kit to sell? Anyone? JohnB
  20. Norovirus is not backyard trots. It is all out sickness coming out both ends making you feel that you wish you would die. I just layed on the bathroom floor between bouts in total pain. Argh!
  21. I've dug out my TecKewl vest. It's a bit heavy, but keeps the core temperature of my body cooled for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Bought this last year after 100+ days. johnb
  22. Well. I went and looked at a Dunlop E3. I was not impressed, so I am going to get a warranty replacement and stay with the Avon Venom-X.
  23. Thanks for the info BigDawg... I think you made a wise choice. To bad for Avon... the tire has good performance except for the size we use on our rear wheel. JohnB
  24. I am another Avon Venom 150/90hb-15 owner with bad side wall cracking. Bought the tire last July... Mounted tire the end of September... Put maybe 4000 miles on it... Now I am dealing with Avon Tyres & Rocky Mountain to try to get a replacement. The problem is that because I bought over the internet, it seems I will have to buy a replacement tire - have that mounted & the bad removed - then sendbad tire to Rocky Mountain - then hope for replacement or refund (better). Be rest assured that if I can't be sure that my next Avon tite won't crack like the last, my replacement won't be an Avon. I'm probably getting a Elite III JohnB
  25. I went to bed early after rebuilding my wife's laptop. In a few hours, I'm starting up my RSV & going for the 1st ride of the year!
