Since BMW Motorrad presented the six-cylinder Concept 6 last fall, rumors have circulated about what model might receive such a potent engine. Today BMW announced that its compact in-line six motorcycle engine—claimed to offer 160 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque—will go into two new models: K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL. The K 1600 GT is said to strike a balance between a sporty riding position and long-distance comfort, with a comfortable ergonomic triangle. Standard features will include xenon (HID) headlight, heated grips and seat, cruise control and on-board computer. The K 1600 GTL will be BMW’s flagship touring model. Rider and passenger will benefit from relaxed, upright seating. Standard features will include a top trunk with passenger backrest, xenon headlight, heated grips and seat, cruise control and on-board computer. Highlights of the K 1600 GT / K 1600 GTL: * In-line six-cylinder engine with peak output of 160 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 129 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, with over 70% of maximum torque available from 1,500 rpm * E-Gas (ride-by-wire) * Three modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic) * BMW Motorrad Integral ABS * Dynamic Traction Control (optional) * Chassis with Duolever and Paralever suspension * Electronic Suspension Adjustment ESA II (optional) * Adaptive Headlight (optional) with standard xenon headlight and lighting rings for increased safety at night * Multi-Controller, TFT color screen and menu guidance * Audio system with preparation for navigation device and controllable interface for iPod, MP3, USB, Bluetooth and satellite radio K 1600 engine is the lightest and most compact in-line six in production, weighing just 226.2 lbs. and measuring 22 in. wide. air filter
starkruzen replied to MopedDAN's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just ordered K&N filters for my 07 RSTD. I have K&N filters on my Acura and my wives Vol o XC 90. I really can't tell any noticeable difference in power, but I like the fact that you don't have to keep buying filters. -
I don't think a Silver star or other type of bulb would be better than a HID system. Just take a look at all the new cars that have HID as standard equipment. You just can't out shine the HID.

Now that I have been adding accesories to my 07 RSTD, the battery post are clogged with wires I attached. Is there a better way? Perhaps some kind of terminal block I could install. As always, you suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark:bowdown:

Comparing the Sylvania Silver Star Ultra to HID
starkruzen replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
There is really no comparison. The HID's are real bright. I have them on my Acura TL and the high beams are not HID so when you turn on the brights you can hardly see a difference. I just ordered a HID for my RSTD. I had them on Harley and even in the day time I would be compliments on how bright they are. For the price (cheap) you can't go wrong and it is a good safety enhancer as well. My $.2:happy34: -
Well said Wes!

I only have 13,400. It had 6200 when I bought it and I thought I put allot of miles on.
-
187,000 wow! That makes me feel good.
-
Okay, who has the highest milage on their ride

Man or man, I would love to have a Gold Wing. But at $24,000 I could by a new Acura TL to replace my 05 TL. Well, almost enough. Maybe go used. Have someone else buy all the add-ons and then jump. Mark

I'm just trying to gat some .380 ammo. Seems like everyone is buying it up. I did get two boxes on FMJ Saturday, but it was nowhere near cheap!

Great write up! What is the big deal about bar end weights? I took mine off a while ago when I changed grips. I feel no difference...so what is the fuss about?

Mustang Seat for My Royal Star??
starkruzen replied to mellco's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have the ultimate seat with back rest and matching passenger seat with back rest for both. The seats are extremely comfortable even, in my opinion, more comfortable than the Corbin dual tour I had on my Harler. I have the opposite problem, I have short legs and I would like to sit closer to the tank. I was wonder if the Mustang seat would be more suited for me. I would be interested in a trade if I good fine one with the same style has mine, ie; chrome studs an dual back rest. -
OEM Windshield Confusion
starkruzen replied to DAKn2's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You should take a look the Clear View shields I bought one and it is perfect. It also comes with a vent that can be opened and closed which is real handy in hot weather. The shields come in various sizes and is cheaper and more durable than Yamaha's. Good luck:lightbulb: -
This sounds interesting. Can tether an IPhone?

2005 RSTD HID Light Installation
starkruzen replied to tsigwing's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just ordered one due to your post. I got the 8000 watt blue. I can't wait to install. Thanks for the info. -
My wife said she feels much more comfortable with the tour pack since it she can lean back. The standard back rest was too straight up. I'm still looking at replacing with larger one. Mark P.S. Do you have any pictures of your set up?
-
What does he do over there? I hope he is not in harms way.

I just got done installing a tour pack on my 07 RSTD. Not very staisfied with the pack. It's a little small and cheaply made, but it has some cool LED lights. I think I will install a Harley tour pack when I find one that won't break the bank. What do you think? Mark

Well, just like you said, cranked it up, set the idel a little higher and in about 10 minutes the cooling fan came on! Well, at least I know it works! Thanks for the help!

Not Whine or Howl but CHIRPING
starkruzen replied to LNGARY's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
My dealer told me the "I" basket wouldn't help be cuse it was due to the square cut gears... -
To my knowledge, my cooling fan has never activated. Is it just not getting hot enough or is there a malfuntion? How can you test it? Thanks
