  1. Switchbacks on gravel??? Let me know where to send the flowers.
  2. She looks MUCH better in your garage than at the dealership.
  3. Just put on a set of Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boy pipes. What clutch whine?! I can't hear a thing. :dancefool:Seriously, I love these pipes no matter what the neighbors say.:nanner:Thanks Sling.
  4. If you can make them quiet you don't have an excuse when you wake the neighbors. That's no good at all.
  5. Hey Frog Man, rather than a Wal-Mart greeter I'm going to be a Mall Santa. What other job is there where you work less than 2 months, don't have to shave or cut your hair, and you get to write your pizza off on your taxes.
  6. There's a lot to be said for no payments. I tried to get a loan for mine and the credit crunch was on. Half way through their collection of a pint of blood and DNA sample I bailed on the process. Had to dig DEEP into the savings but I'll put what would have been a payment back in each month. I also saved a ton on insurance since I don't have to cover it for every bug strike. If you can get creative, cash is the only way to go.
  7. Now if someone could just invent chrome that was self-polishing........... It cuts into my ride time.
  8. Has anyone tried the new Avon Cobra tires for the 2nd Gen? I'm just curious to how they compare to the Venoms.
  9. Once again you guys are the best. I'm falling deeper in love with this bike every day. I just installed the fork balance kit today. Pretty easy. The hardest part was running the hose. I kept reading (not here) about how top heavy this bike was and how hard it was to handle at slow speeds and in parking lots. I don't get it. Once I got used to the different foot position compared to the 1st Gen it's been easy. The low speed handling is actually better than the 1st Gen. I would agree that this may be a little too much bike for a beginner but I just don't see all the fuss. For a heavy, this bike is very well mannered.
  10. I have an '07 RSV. I didn't get an owners manual with it and I can't get the clock to set. Can someone help me out here?
  11. I rented an Ultra for a few days when I was in Hawaii. I now own a RSV. To me there is no comarison. Even if they were the same price I would be on the Venture.
  12. I don't even have to ask my wife about this. I wonder what the 2027 RSV will be like.
  13. Since I've just moved to the 2nd Gen crown I have a couple questions. With my 1st Gen I've always done all my work with the center stand. I don't have one with the 2nd Gen. Does it matter for things like oil changes that the bike is on the side stand or do I need to find a way to straighten it? Also, if I do need to straighten it what's the best/cheapest way to do that?
  14. Hey, I did stay with a Venture rather than "half an Accord". Just had to stay in the Yammer family.
  15. Well it's official. I am now the proud owner of a 2007 Midnight Venture. Thanks to all for your responses when I was looking at price. I now have a 1989 Maroon 1st Gen for sale. She's an awesome bike and like I said before not any where near part out stage. She has 105k on her and ready for a new home. I'm probably going to hit Ebay and Craig's List but I thought I'd throw the new here first. If anyone is interested in an '89 1st Gen feel free to give me a call. 404-323-4094. Thanks again for all the support and I look forward to riding with all of you on my new Black Beauty.
  16. I wouldn't stress out Bill. I've been ruinning ME880s for a couple years and love them I have an '89. I'm starting to think this is a problem with the tires for the 2nd Gen. I may be picking up a 2nd Gen in the next couple weeks and based on al I've read I will probably go with Avons on it but I have nothing but great performance out of the ME880s on the 1st Gen.
  17. Thanks again everyone. I'll let you know what happens. If I do end up with her I'll just have to find a way to make her run like a 1st Gen. Some may say that's impossible but you never know. I'll also post my '89 here before anywhere else. I know she'll be taken care of if someone from this group wants her.
  18. Thanks for the help guys. I know the bike pretty well. It's owner was a very close friend who passed a few months ago. The bike is part of the estate and it would appear no one in the family wants it. Since it was so new he was upside down in the loan so it would just go back to the bank. Another close friend is the executor and has the bike in his garage. He called me and asked if I would like to buy it because he thought it would be fitting is it were to "stay in the family" as it were. He said he thinks the bank will settle for $8k to be rid of it. We both think our friend would love for his ride to stay with us rather than just being sold to anyone. I guess she's more sentimental to us than the family. I only asked about the value in case I need to take loan because I don't $8k cash to spend right now. I want the bike no matter how much but the better the price the better chance of getting the money. BTW. He was cremated and has a Ventureriders Guardian Bell hanging from his ern. We used to say that we knew there were bikes in Heaven or it would be hell. I know he's riding right now.
  19. I may have the chance to get a very sentimental 2007 Midnight Venture for around $8k. If I do I will be selling my '89. She had 104k on her but still a great running and looking bike. No where near the part out stage of life. The '07 has pretty minimal mileage (I don't know the exact number) Two questions, is $8k a good price and what is the '89 worth? Nothing is certain right now but I want to ask this group for opinions.
  20. Great decission BigD. This is quite a group. I've joined in March of '06. I think you'll find an awesome group in your area. Every state is a little different but the mission statement does say it all. Send your State Captain an email and I'm sure he/she can get you in touch with someone close to you who can give all the information for your state. Also feel free to contact any of us here personally any time. Thanks for joining and supporting our heroes BigD and thanks to every one of you out there who are willing to "Stand for those who stood for us".
  21. The card reader information is the same as what I've found. The conversion of the music will need to be done with your player on the computer. I don't have an I-Pod so I probably have it easier. I have Rhapsody and it alows my to choose the format of anything I rip. When I purchase I also have the ability to choose format. If you can't choose the download format your player should at least let you choose the rip format so you could burn a CD and then rip it back in the MP3 format. That would work.
  22. I've been running 880s on my 1st Gen for 3 years with nothing but good results. I ride 100 mile per day and mostly solo. I've been averaging 20k rear and almost 50k front. My current set is the new design with an alphabetical sizing rather than numeric. These actually have a lower max psi of 40psi on each. I run 38 front and 39 rear checking and adjusting twice a week. I only buy my tires at one place and I know for a fact they are extremely particular about the dating on what they stock. Maybe I'm just lucky but I'll continue to run 880s.
  23. Show up some weekend and pave a 4 ft path in their drive. That should take care of the problem.
  24. Good points tmodel. I agree that The Drafon can be a pretty dangerous place because of the people who frequent it. I don't know that you could ever set it aside for people to use to test themselves though. The potential liability if the HP made it known they would allow it would be rediculous. I do wish they would limit cage traffic to vehicles that had the ability to negotiate the curves though. RVs and Trucks should be banned. They can't make the curves without crossing the lines no matter how well they're driven.
  25. Prayers going out for both and their families. This is a really tragic story.
