Cheater pipe is the answer. I have a 3' section of conduit that slides perfectly over my socket wrench handle. It turns 6 inches of leverage into 3 feet of leverage and you'll be amazed at how easy it makes it. You don't have to force it. Just use steady pressure and it will pop loose. It's when you strain that you don't have control and start to strip heads. If you don't have something like that take your wrench to Lowes or Home depot and get a section of conduit that will slide over but ot too loose. It's cheap and it will work on anything where you need the extra leverage.

I think it's all in the context and the timing. I've never really been a joiner until the Patriot Guard and this group. I never liked the rules. ( I guess I have a problem with authority. ) What I have seen with the PGR is that when people are there for that reason there is no exclusivity as a rule. We still have groups that want to ride together and not mix but some who don't care. We have some clubs that won't allow a PGR patch and some that will. Most groups have qualifiers. HOG, ALR, Combat Vets, even groups like Southern Cruisers (which is just a ride group) have their own deals. I've never had any issues with any of them outside of some friendly ribbing but I will say that I would also never make a comment about the one thing that makes them who they are. I would never slam the military in front of a military club and I would never slam a HD in front of a HOG. Respect what makes them unique and you will (for the lost part) receive respect in return. Although there will always be the "lunatic fringe" this has been my experience. I always make a positive comment about someone's ride no matter what it is or looks like.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Great job "Halfanaccordman".

One of the things I have liked the most about this site was the fact that people are passionate about their bikes and about this group. I see the same thing comming out now. Don you have done an awesome job over the past few years I've been a member and the membership as a whole has really been something. While I know very few of you really I do consider this a family type group. Thank you to everyone who has posted suggestions. I have not read one that was not done with the true heart of keeping this site alive and the family intact while helping the one person who has put so much into this. Like everyone else, I have no problem paying this small fee to be a part of this group but I wonder if it will be enough. While the $12/year may be more than enough to differ the cost of running the site I'm not sure it does enough over the longer term to really help Don and that is what we are talking about. I personally like the advertising idea as something that may be more sustainable and something that will generate more money. If the site became profitable then maybe we could resend the membership fee at a later date. I'm 51 with a 16 year old son. I would love to be riding 30 years from with both of us still members of this group so while I am happy to pay the fee I would really like to see us continue to look for long term strategies. We're all praying for you Don.

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
loehring replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have always used Rotella T Synthetic with mine. I'm no expert but I know there are some additives in auto oil that are NOT made for the wet clutch that we have on the RSV. Some others will be able to get technical with you but I wouldn't. You'll have clutch slip if you use auto oil for any length of time. -

Anybody done a radical paint job on their 2nd Gen?
loehring replied to spear's topic in Watering Hole
I guess I'm just not man enough. I could never ride a pink bike. -
The thing that doesn't belong is the cover. Ride baby!! Ride!!!!!!!!!

I had an '89 and now I have an '07. I have to admit I love both bikes but they are very different. It seemed natural to run the 1st Gen at a higher RPM than the 2nd Gen. The performance was awesome for a bike that size. Although the '89 did seem faster, I will say that if you keep the RPMs up on the 2nd Gen it's not exactly slow but it just seems natural to take it a little slower on the 2nd Gen. If I am looking for a little more I just drop a gear. It's enough to keep this old man happy. I've actually enjoyed realizing there are things to look at other than the road.

Garmin just came out with a new bike model. Have a look at the Garmin site. It's $100 cheaper than the 550.

I can only immagine what you're going through. I have 2 daughters of my own and I have often wondered what I would do if anything were to happen to them. You see these things on the news but never really think they can happen to your family. Please know that you are in our prayers. Follow your hearts and know that there is no right or wrong answer here. You should not be judged by anyone for what you decide to do. I believe there is no punishment that can be faced on this earth that can compare to the fires of Hell that are waiting. May God bless and comfort your family and may God lay His healing and loving hands upon your daughter.

Still praying Don. We all know you'll be through this in no time.

Did anyone see that movie WAL-E? (Or something like that) All us fat people need to walk a little more anyway.

I completely agree with the notification. I think the best thing would be for the MOD's to ask the member to remove the post themselves and explain why. That way everyone would have a chance to have their say but it would be understood that the MOD made the final call. I would have no problem removing a post of mine if someone took offense but it would be nice to be able to discuss it. I know that may seem time consuming but I can't immagine we have that many on this site.

I almost hit a cow once about a mile from my house. Lucky for me she didn't stop in the middle of the road after pulling out in front of me. That SUV would have hurt.

I am so sorry to hear this. Prayers offered for both. I hope there's a speedy recovery.

That's what I love about your posts Squeeze. After I read them, even though I rarely have any idea what you've written, I just feel smarter. What he said.

I don't think the classic style is going away any time soon. Look at what the new Kawasaki looks like and Honda sells a lot of VTX's. I don't know what Yamaha will do but I personally like the look of the 2nd Gen. My wife is glad I got the RSV over the Wing as well. She loves the cruiser styling. I'm 51, she's 45 but my son is 15 and all he talkes about is this HD he saw. He has no interest in a crotch rocket and thinks both the Wing and the Victory Vission are "Ugly". One thing that I have always loved about bikes, they are an extension of the rider so there will always be a multitude of styles to choose from because people are so different.
