  1. I use Rotells-T Syn with a Pure 1 filter. It's rated to be changed every 15k but I change the oil and filter every 5k. I've never had it analyzed but I feel pretty good changing it that far below what it calls for. I do think it's important to change the filter EVERY TIME you change the oil though.
  2. I agree with Davecb. When you start depending on a bunch gadgets to monitor you bike you stop noticing things. Checking the tire pressure, oil level, air level in shocks, etc. makes you pay attention to your ride. You notice things like loose bolts and things that need to be adjusted or tightened. It's all part of the relationship between you and your bike. I check tire pressure at least twice a week. I use the Ride-on product and I haven't lost a single pound front or rear in the past 3 weeks. If you're concerned about losing pressure and not knowing it then I recommend Ride-on, but I wouldn't even consider $375 for something like that. Just my .02:2cents:
  3. I use PVC with a wood dowel down the center. I know some others who have used extendable painters poles and put a nice cap on the top. Either will work.
  4. I wouldn't know where to start. You must have trained in India.
  5. That's a really cool unit. I like it too but I don't know what else I would add. The Zumo has all the stuff I want and I have heated gear that wires direct. Help!! Someone think of some new toys I need.
  6. Just tell her it's an investment. The pegs are $100-$150 and each Chiro visit is $45. They pay for themselves.
  7. I have the Zumo 550 as well and I love it. For me it has been worth every penny. I admit it isn't the cheapest but I have had outstanding customer support from Garmin and the unit has been through some of the heaviest rains I've ever seen and had no issues. I ride 365 so having the GPS, XM Radio, MP3 along with traffic and weather alerts all in one waterproof unit made it worth it. Make sure what ever you buy does what you want it to do. Even $100 is too much to spend for something you end up not using because it doesn't do what you want.

    MP3

This is a valid point. I know it's illegal here in GA but has anyone ever actually been cited for this? I have J&M earphones and I listen to XM Radio and MP3 through the headset all the time. I have never even received a second look from a cop.
  9. The 2 closest to me are Atlanta Motor Speedway and Talledega. Neither is really that close. I immagine someone will get to one before I do.
  10. I check the tightness of screws and bolts all the time on my bike but I have to admit this is one place I have never checked. Thanks Terry. Now I will.
  11. This seems appropriate for this thread. Some things are just beyond belief. Rules for the Non-Military. Dear Civilians, We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance: 1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass. 2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest - kick their ass. 3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass. 4. (GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues, telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces, Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old. Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked. 5. Next time you come across an *Air Force* member, do not ask them, 'Do you fly a jet? Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking.(children are exempt). 6. If you witness someone calling the *US Coast Guard* 'non-military', Inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass. 7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over you heart, or if you are military or retired military you may now salute th flagwhen not in uniform. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking. 8. Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran. We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our party affiliation. Our Chain of Command is to include our Commander-In-Chief(CinC). The President (for those who didn't know) is our CinC Regardless of political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out. If you keep asking us the same stupid questions repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked. 9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me - stop saying It! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore could kick your ass! 10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying 'Let's go kill those Commies!' And stop asking us where he is! Crystal balls arenot standard issue in the military. That reminds me- if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I can go kick their ass! 11. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines),* 'Grunt' (*Army*), 'Squid' (*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers' (*Coast Guard*), etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them could get your ass kicked. 12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of th military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families.. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get it's ass kicked..' *'It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.' 'It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.' 'It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.' 'It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.' *AND ONE MORE:: 13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the national anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS.
  12. Silly Biker, trailers are for boats. Ride baby!! Ride!
  13. What happened to the tire? Did you hit something or was the tire bad?
  14. Sorry I missed this one guys. The "Ride to Live" in Duluth was a great event for the ADA. I think there were 800-1000 bikes there. The line was about 4 miles long. I know we pissed off some cages today. The main thing is we raised a lot of money for Diabetes. Glad you all had a great ride and I hope to make the next one in June.
  15. I agree. The Venture is definately a slab cruiser. The best bike I've ever ridden on an Interstate but she's not designed for "off road". Glad you're ok Kenny. Heal fast. The season is young for you guys.
  16. She's a beauty Thumper. I can't wait to see her in person. If Don gave the ok you're getting a great bike. Ride safe.
  17. I know they made the laws in GA tougher on people who are at fault in an accident that causes an injury but it was almost a token gesture. If it was my wife killed in something like this and the lady got a slap on the wrist there would be no guarantee that I wouldn't snap. We just laid a husband and wife to rest here in GA that were killed by a lady turning in front of them. He served 5 combat tours in Iraq and they left 2 young children. 5 COMBAT TOURS AND HE IS KILLED BY A (*^^%$#^&*(*&%@# CAGE!!!!! I think they need to make laws that have teeth. If they would just say that any time you are at fault when there's a fatality it's automatically vehicular homicide with a 20 year prisson term them MAYBE people would start to pay attention after a few were sentenced.
  18. That sounds like a resistance issue. Could there be something with the plugs or plug wires? I remember that happening in an old car of mine and it was plug wires that were bad. Maybe someone else has a little more experience.
  19. We won't disown you. The dark side of The Force can be very seductive.
  20. That's a tough question Thumper. How strong is your back? Do you know if the shock still hold air? That would make a difference. I have an '07 with just under 50k and I've had no issues what so ever with the rear shock. I check the pressure weekly and so far haven't lost a single lb of air. I guess I'm just lucky.
  21. :clap2::clap2: Great to hear it Bob. As they say, "Everyone will crash. There are those that get back on, those who don't and those who can't." I'm glad you're in the first catagory.
  22. I have the 550 and have it wired directly to the battery as well. I do have the rubber flap and I've never had an issue with any shorts. The charging for the Zumo battery is so minimal that I don't have any bike battery issues. For me it works perfect. I did split the fairing to run the audio through the auxil and to place the XM30 antenna inside the fairing. It all looks very clean. I didn't know the wiring for the 660 was different. Hopefully that won't be too much of a pain.
  23. 360 degree awareness, 100% of the time. Not an easy task but it's how we stay alive. I'm glad your friends are ok. I was rear ended some years ago in CA. There was a stop light in the middle of a curving entry ramp. I saw it but the guy behind me didn't. I will admit I can see why he missed it. One of the stupidest places for I light I have ever seen. Luckilly I got away with some minor rear end damage that I was able to tape and ride home to GA with. It threw me off the bike but I landed in grass over to the side. The guy was very appologetic. He and his son both rode and he couldn't believe he hit another biker. It can happen any time, any place so never stop looking for it.
  24. Very nice. She's almost as pretty as mine. (I'm just a little bias.)
