I don't need a radiator cap? -
We plan to meet in Burlington - I should have had you go look at the bike!! We are looking at meeting on Saturday afternoon or maybe Monday.

This bike isn't too far from you - down by Peoria. We are meeting in Burlington----Yep -magnetic plates for sure!!! I wanted a touring bike - keep watching for Ventures - didn't find one I liked for what I wanted to pay - so back on a Voyager (til next month!)
-
Not quite - I had an 2010 and sold it due to the heat - much like my old Harley. They fixed the problem with a Kam system in 2012 but for $400 you can add the Kam system to the older bikes. Must guys use ICE coolant and claim that makes a ton of difference. That's my plan. Previous owner said he didn't notice the heat.... hmmmm - Anyway - at the price I paid - I can make some bucks if I don't keep it. Have my Road Star for sale and if it doesn't sell - I will flip this one. I've been looking for another Venture but everytime I start shopping for a Venture it seems the prices are more than I want to pay!

Got a smoking deal on a 2011 Kawasaki Voyager with 8700 miles on it with extended warranty. I had a 2010 a couple of years ago. Looking forward to cruise and a radio again!

When I moved to Newton 8 1/2 years ago the church I was called to had gone through some real struggles. I decided that maybe I should start each sermon with a joke to cheer the congregation up. There were a couple of times I quit telling jokes and the people rebelled so I keep doing it. I've used a few from this thread - but not all of them! Anyway - I have a whole file of jokes so here is the one I told Sunday - and the second is one I haven't used yet! A Kentucky horse breeder had a filly that won every race in which she was entered, but as she got older she became very temperamental. He soon found that when he raced her in the evening, she would win handily, but when she raced during the day she would come in dead last. He consulted the top veterinarians and horse psychologists and spent thousands of dollars but to no avail. He finally had to give up because it had become a real night mare. Two elderly gentlemen were talking over a cup of coffee. the first one boasted. "I guess you're never too old," "Why just yesterday a pretty college girl said she'd be interested in dating me. But to be perfectly honest, I don't quite understand it." His Friend said, "Well,", "you have to remember that nowadays women are more aggressive. They don't mind being the one to ask." "No, I don't think it's that." "Well, maybe you remind her of her father." "No, it's not that either. It's just that she also mentioned something about carbon 14."

Where does one find new wires for the first generation? I'd be willing to do the same... -
Ignition woes Part Duex

When I had my bike apart I noticed that I had pulled a plug wire out of the cap. I also noticed there was no inner wire showing so cut back the insulation so that I had a wire sticking through. Was that the proper thing to do or should I have left it alone. Seems now that I am running on 3 cylinders as well..... -
I'm beginning to wonder if my project 83 is running on 3 cylinders. It runs fine but once in awhile it will kick in like it is turbo charged. Is that a good possibility or could it be the carbs need synced. Just wondering.......

Yes, you will enjoy your Roadstar. I got my first Roadstar a couple of years ago. It was a 99 and I loved it. Since then I've had an 08 and now an 07 Roadstar. I also purchased 5 other Roadstars just to resale and did very well on them. Sold and 04 Roadstar today and took a 1979 and a 1980 project Goldwings as partial trade. Be sure to join the Road Star Clinic for great information.

Anyone in Central Iowa have a Carbtune or carb sync tool to loan?
Godlover replied to Godlover's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks - I might have found one locally from a Goldwing owner so I'm waiting to hear. I will keep that in mind! -

Last fall I bought a project 83 Venture Royale and finally got it on the road last week. I bought this for something to keep me busy in the off months - with plans to sell once I was finished. I've been riding it around town and the more I ride the more I enjoy it. It is tempting to keep it around and ride it back and forth to the office. It handles much better in town than my Road Star plus it is fun to ride!!!

Got it on the road - brake question
Godlover replied to Godlover's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know there is a valve on the right side of the bike where the linkage goes to. -
I bought a project 83 Venture and finally got it together and got it out on the road today. Ran a bit rough at first but them more I rode it the smoother she got. I have no rear brakes. Front seem plenty strong. My question: Is there a separate brake reservior for the rear brake on the 83. I looked through an online owners manual and didn't find the info I needed. If it shares the same as the front - any ideas on what needs to be done to get rear brakes? I'll try to post a picture.

Last night I went to change the oil and filter in my project 83 Venture. First, the spring was on the wrong side of the filter! Second, the washer is missing. Third, the oil was very dirty so I wonder if the filter was working. Anyway - I would like to get this on the road so will a washer from the hardware store work to replace the Yamaha one? I am not sure I can find one the right size - but it is worth a shot!!!! Thanks!!!

It was good to read the different responses. There is no clear or simple answer to the original question. It comes down to personal tastes and opinions.
