Nope- but I bet my sister knows some of the family. We've been in this area for less than 4 years.
-
Great Mike - hope you can make it once we get the dates set. Yep, Sully is just a hop, skip and a jump from here. My nieces and nephews graduated from Lynnville/Sully.

I've been talking to Cougar about hosting a maintenance day here in Newton sometime this summer and we are working on a date. Newton is in the middle of the state, I live right off 1-80 - have four garage stalls and a few tools. Plus, there is a Super 8 less than a block from our house for those who might want to stay the night. Other hotels close by as well. We have a city park in our back yard with a shelter as well. I think it is an ideal place to do it. My wife and I both are pastors serving different churches so it will have to be a Saturday when we don't have a family event, weddings or races at the Speedway. We have a policy of no alcohol at our house so booze will be out. I don't have a problem with alcohol - just a choice we made and adhere to it at our house. I've never been to a maintenance day but think it would be fun. I'm putting this out here now just to see how much interest we can muster. For you race fans, Newton is the home of NASCAR's Iowa Speedway. I'm a chaplain there. We also will host the Hot Rod Power Tour on June 5th!

Jeff - I'm doing the bib that wraps around the bottom of the tank - looks great -
-
H Jeff, I'm pretty sure he said, 75 on the bib. Not sure if that was because I did a package deal - or what. He's great to talk to and has a lot of ideas. If you are thinking about a tan one for you MM trike give him a call so he can order the material when he orders mine. His number is 321-637-8224. Tell him I told you to call - name is Troy

Wow - I just got off the phone with Troy at Customleathers - great guy. I'm getting a bib - saddle covers - and grips - for $175 and they will be tan!! Now if the snow would only melt - more snow today and Sunday! We will break the all time record this year.

Stripping a 99 venture royale
Godlover replied to RedRaptor22's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Another thought - if you decide to get it up and running you will have a ton of support from this site. There is a wealth of information on this forum and the people here are some of the best in the world. They will go out of their way to help you with your ride and we would love to have you as part of the Venturerider family! -
Stripping a 99 venture royale
Godlover replied to RedRaptor22's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would encourage you to find someone with an older Roadstar that might want to move up to a Venture. The Roadstar sounds like the bike you want and the earlier models are priced right. However, before you give up on the Venture - you need to ride it for a month or so - -IMO it is the best bike out there so give it a chance to win you over!!!! -
Here's the right website for Troy's website http://tscustomleather.com/ He emailed me and said he can get the tan leather to match the MM bike. I plan to call him tomorrow and see what he has to offer. If I can strike a deal I may see if others might like a tan MM bib. It looks like he does awesome work.

I think I finally found the guy I was looking for. Troy Savoie - at www.scustomleather.com. I just emailed him!

That's a good idea Big Mike. I thought at one time there was a vender here who made them - but I can't find his link. Seems like he made covers for the hard bags as well.
-
I want a leather bib - I already have the rubber one - sorry if I didn't make it clear! Thanks for the offer!
-
I can't find the brown leather at this site. Hmmmmm.....
-
Good idea - Not sure about painting leather myself - at one time I saw a vender here who made custom bibs that looked cool but for the life of me I can't find the link. Making my own is a thought - we have an embroidering sewing machine - hmmmmm - Mark

Here's one up in Ames - might be a good ride: \ 2007 Triumph Tiger 1050 $7000 - $7000 (Ames) Date: 2010-02-09, 9:39PM CST Reply to: sale-ufenv-1594081986@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] I have a 2007 Triumph Tiger 1050 / non-ABS. You guys are all an excellent source of information. The sad news is the guy decided that I was too far away to make the trade so the deal is off. The old Suburban is cool so it doesn't bother me to keep it and I'll keep my eyes open for another interesting trade or just sell it outright. If you know of anyone looking for an awesome 72 three door Suburban with air ride, fuel injection, air conditioning and in great shape - let me know!
-
Thanks for the info - Actually this will be an addition to my Venture - but I'll probably turn around and sell it this spring. I have an awesome 72 Suburban but have really struggled selling it. I even dropped the price 4 grand since last fall! The market is so soft. The Roadstar is a good option for several reasons: One - it won't take a whole stall in my garage (the burb is huge!) - two - it will be easier to sell, three - if it doesn't sell I will enjoy riding it (translated: I won't try real hard to sell it!) Fourth - it will provide an extra ride when my kids are home and we can ride together. Fifth - it would be cool to have a Roadstar and a Venture! It would be really cool to have a matching 2000 MM Roadstar but I'll take an 07. My son had a Road Star Warrior which was wickedly fast and loved it. I'm leaning towards making the trade. I'm in Iowa and he's in Oklahoma and with this Iowa weather it will probably be a few weeks or month before we can swap.

Does anyone have any experience with the Roadstar Silverado? I have the opportunity to trade my old 72 Suburban for an 07 Roadstar with 3400 miles on it. I checked out the Roadstar forums but can't find the kind of information I find here. Is there anything I need to be watching for? Thanks!
