  1. Here my Beemer!
  2. Well, the guy emailed and said his wife read his emails and was upset because he has 6 grand in his bike. Dropped his offer to $500 and his bike on my 2005 BMW K1200LT with 7,000 miles. Sometimes I wonder about people!
  3. Yeah, I found one for $2995 but wasn't as nice. My BMW is a prior Salvage and I'm asking $6250. He wants to trade the bike and $2000. I am thinking his bike and $2500.
  4. A guy wants to trade in a very nice CB1100f on my BMW. He claims they go for $6,000 but there aren't many out there to get true value. I know they are scarce as they were only made in 1983. Any ideas of worth?
  5. Thats good Don but I practice a lot of grace! If probation is in order, I can deal with it! Actually, although I may not have post I would check in often to check what was happening. This is best forum I've joined and it is great to be back.
  6. Well, it's been awhile but I just can't seem to stay away from the Royal Stars. For those of you who know me - well, let's just say - I've had a few bikes! However, the Royal Stars are the bikes I seem to keep my eye out for. Well, today I bought an sweet 2009 Venture from a dealer in Topeka, Kansas that has 16000 miles on it. Although I haven't seen it in person - from the pictures this bike is a beauty. I got a great deal on it - and I can't wait to head down to pick it up. It might be a few weeks with all the church activities in the next 10 days. I've tried most the touring bikes. I've had an 1994, 2010 and 2012 Kawasaki Voyager - a 2002 Goldwing Trike - countless Road Stars - 2 MM Ventures - a couple of 1st Generation Ventures - 2005 Road Glide - 2005 Ultra Classic - and currently have parked a 2005 BMW K1200LT and a 2008 Harley Electra-Glide. The BMW and Harley are now listed on Craigslist. Love the Electra-glide but hate the engine heat in traffic. I have a burn scar on my leg from the pipes. Love how the BEEMER handles - but the sitting position hurts my hips. I've only had a month but know it isn't going to work for me. So, I'm back on a Venture and I will be hanging around here a bit more --- again. Also in my garage is my nephews 1983 sweet Goldwing Cafe Racer and a 2009 Victory Vision with 11,000 miles I'm selling for a good friend. I was tempted to buy the Vision but then I bought this Venture! It's good to be back!!
  7. So true. I have found some great deals but got them by being the first to get to them. Lost this one because my son who has the membership to bid at the auction got busy. He should have placed a proxy bid! Oh well!
  8. I haven't been posting much over the past few years as I haven't had a Royal Star for the past few years but I still hang around some. I wouldn't mind picking up a Royal Star again and found one at Coparts last week that wasn't too bad. My son buys rebuilders from Coparts so I asked him to bid on an 06 Venture yesterday in Lincoln, Ne. He forgot to bid and it went for $875 to someone in Illinois. I hope it was a member from Venture who picked it up. It wasn't hurt that bad. I'll keep looking and who know, you may have to put up with me more often!
  9. Mike, it is a joy to do what I do!
  10. Our kids were visiting from Arizona and staying in the local Holiday Inn. As my wife and I were leaving the hotel a couple of guys were just getting off their bikes under the overhang. One was on a Harley Triglide the other was riding a Dyna Glide. So, I started a conversation welcoming them to Newton. They had been on their way to Colorado and their buddy had out his bike in the ditch out on I-80 and he was in the local hospital. I took my wife home and went up to the hospital to see if they had any needs.....the pastor in me never quits. After tests they sent him to the hotel where he waited for family to come to get him from Wisconsin. He rode a Venture and the forth person in the group was on a Venture. His family has a Yamaha dealership. Anyway, they are not members of this site but were members of the original Venture site now called MTA. I stopped several times to visit and what a fun group of guys.
  11. I am looking at a trike at Freedom Powersports in McKinney Texas. Anyone live nearby that might be interested in checking it out? Send me an email at mrkyoung@gmail.com. Thanks.
  12. Rear Speakers aren't a big deal to me - but I understand how some make it an issue. I think Kawasaki cut corners on their flimsy saddle bags. They seem to crack easier than other bags but then I remember how the Yamaha Royal Stars had issues with their trunks for awhile. The more I ride the Voyager the more I love it. The day is approaching when the weight of lifting the bike off the kickstand will be an issue and I'll look for something lighter.
  13. The rear speakers are another $300 on Ebay and the connections are already there. My 10 had rear speakers. I ride alone so it is no big deal.
  14. I know I don't post here often as I haven't had a Royal Star for some time. However, I hang around and keep my membership as this has been the best motorcycle forum I have joined by far. Those who know me know that I had a tendency to trade and sell bikes (understatement) - so who knows what I am riding from week to week! Two years ago I sold my Tour Deluxe for a 2010 Kawasaki Voyager - didn't keep long - didn't like the engine heat. Took a 99 Roadstar in on trade which began a two year love for the Roadstar line. I know I bought and sold over 10 Roadstars in those two years. In April I came across a 2011 Voyager for $8200 miles with less than 9,000 miles. Met the guy 1/2 way and road it home. He lived on gravel and when I got into it I have never seen a dirtier road bike. I had to pull the side panels off to clean the caked mud off the inside. I replaced the rear tire and I'm surprised the wheel wasn't way out of balance due to the mud caked on the inside of the hub. She cleaned up pretty good but my concern was how well it was cared for. The good news was the PO had purchased an extended warranty - giving me some peace. The 2011 still had the heat issue but I had planned to have the dealer install the KAM system now available and comes stock on 2012 and newer Voyagers. The hard bags on the 11 were cracked slightly so I was trying to get Kawasaki to replace my bags under warranty and when I was at the dealer the salesperson told me they just took a 2013 Voyager in on trade. So I looked it over and the salesperson said, "The guy who got this traded it on a new Voyager and I can make you a sweet deal." I thought, "Yeah, right!" For the fun of it I said shoot me a price - and he offered it to me for my bike and $2200. Since, I had planned to have the dealer install the KAM (air management system that takes care of the heat problem) on my 2011 at a cost of $600 to $700 anyway and the 2013's come with the KAM unit I figured we are at $1500 difference. Plus, the 2013 has ABS brakes and mine didn't. So, i traded up two years and got a bike that wasn't quite a beat up as mine, Picked up the bike yesterday and all that I didn't like about the 2010 and 11 is gone. Felt no heat from the engine and the ABS brakes are a big improvement. The 2013 seems more responsive as well. A few of you may be tempted to start taking odds at how long I hold on to this bike. I am making no promises!!
  15. Okay gang - something came up and i spent my money on an 06 Lincoln Mark LT pickup. If any of you are interested you can call the Harley dealer in Waukon, Iowa - they have them. I've been wanting a nice truck for years and when this Lincoln 4X4 showed up on Craigslist for 10,000 I jumped on it... only has 112,000 miles too...Loaded!!!
  16. Here is an upadate: I spent yesterday wtih Chris - a two hour drive. Chris wanted me to look at this older home - $38000 hometo see if it could be fixed up for Karla. She will be released on June 5th and he really wanted a place so she wouldn't have to go to a Care Center. The problem was - notice was - he had no money - Only the hope that he might get a small settlement from the insurance company Anyway - we looked - and the house needs a lot of work but is doable so he made a really, really low offer. They countered - he countered - but had still had no financing or income. Just as I droeve into my driveway I get a call from Chris saying that the settlement came through with a bit more then enough to buy the house at the asking price = with some left to remodel. Praise God!! They still need our prayres and support!
  17. He did have a Go Fund Me site but they took 10% of the funds - rip off in my opinion. We had people give gifts through PayPal so 100% would go to them. Thanks for the suggestion.
  18. Last January I read a post on the Road Star Forum from a member who was talking with his wife on the phone when a car crossed over and hit her head on. His name is Chris and his wife's name is Karla. Karla was in Iowa City Hospital for a couple of months in a coma. Then she was transferred to Lincoln, Ne. for recovery. Chris has been at her side as much as possible and has been her rock. We talk weekly and sometimes for hours. They have little family and no income due to their situation. Karla is scheduled to be released in a few weeks and the rental house they have will not work for her needs. The insurance company of the guy at fault is offering a small settlement but Medicade will take the majority of that settlement to recoup expenses. If Karla is placed in a Care Center it will probably undo all the progress she has made to this point. Plus, as a pastor I know the limited care she will get. Kris stays with her and if he leaves for a day or two - he has to convince her once again that he is her husband. He has talked to lawyers and since the guy at fault has no assets - they won't go after more. He and I talked for almost 2 hous last night and this guy does not know where to turn. I have been able to help them financially through my church and by asking the Road Star Forum to help. We actually had a auction of Road Star parts that people were willing to donate. Anyway - I ask for prayers and also for a miracle to provide them a place to stay. Tomorrow I will drive down and look at a $40,000 house that might be able to meet their needs. We pray that the insurance settlement might come through in the next day or so and it is enough to purchase this house - or that through some miracle a place will be provided. I know God does the impossible and right now this seems impossible. I will be picking up some of their personal items to sell. He sold his Road Star and thankfully he owns their van outright. The only income since January has been the gifts we have raised and the selling of their personal property. I stay on this forum because of the friends I have met here over the years and that I do purchase a Venture from time to time! Thanks for reading this and please pray for them.
  19. I do plan to step up and make the deal if I can. I will let you know how things work out! Thanks for the advice!
  20. These bikes ran when they were traded in. I think it wouldn't take a whole lot - maybe carb work at the most to get them back on the road. They are too good to part out. I think there is money to be made - the problem is it is two hours away and all I've seen is pictures. They will take 3000 for all three - I'll have 3500 in them by the time I get them home.
  21. I've been trying to talk a dealer into selling me three First Generation Ventures he's had for awhile. They haven't been started for awhile but ran when they took them on trade. They are all Royale models - two 86 and one 90. All have over 60000 miles. The pictures look really good - and the lowest they would go is $3000. I offered them $2000 - then $2500 and they won't budge. I am waiting to see if a few days makes a difference. If I give them 3000 - I'll have another $500 in taxes and going after them. In your opinion - what might they be worth?
