  1. thanks Karl - PMed you.
  2. I am trying to remove the saddle bags on this 1st Generation. Do I use the ignition key for the locks to remove it? They work to open the bigs but don't seem to work to get the bags off the bike? Any suggestions. I'm sure asking a lot of questions on this bike!
  3. The 83 I bought runs really great - but it has rust everywhere. Basically anything chrome is rusty. I am not sure how much to put into this bike. I checked Ebay and can find chrome pieces such as engine gaurds, stator cover, etc - but shipping is the huge killer. The frame even has rust on it - but not much I will do about that except clean up and paint a bit. So, anyone out here have any parts they want to sell and ship at a decent price?
  4. Thanks - actually I didn't have to bleed it after all - seems to be working fine. The guy I bought it from told me the clutch needed to be bled. Hmmmmm - He really didn't know much and didn't belong to this forum. If he belonged here I'm sure he would have kept his bike!
  5. Good idea - I don't have an impact......
  6. Thanks - If I get a battery do I need to find one with the hole for the level warning or do I drill a hole in the battery. I assume it wouldn't start due to the low voltage - it started the other day when we jumped it.
  7. I have a couple of questions: #1: in the middle of the battery there is a wire coming out that has a resistor or something - I removed it when I took the battery out to charge. What might it be? Second: I need to bleed the clutch but I can't get the bleeder broke loose - any help here? Third: When I bought the bike - we jumped the bike and got it started. I charged it up for a few hours - and when I tried to start it I had a warning light and it just hummed. I had the kickstand down and in neutral. Perhaps the battery needs replaced - I put my volt meter on it and it was reading less then 7 volts - so I'm charging it overnight to see if I can salvage it. Thanks
  8. Leveling Links are best mod - you won't believe the difference in handling.
  9. Okay - Now that I've looked the bike over - I have a couple of questions: #1: in the middle of the battery there is a wire coming out that has a resistor or something - I removed it when I took the battery out to charge. What might it be? Second: I need to bleed the clutch but I can't get the bleeder broke loose - any help here? Third: When I bought the bike - we jumped the bike and got it started. 10. I uploaded pictures of my 83 but not positive how to get them to this forum. Here's the link:http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=642 Let see if that works.

  17. excellent advice!!
  18. I'll try to get pics tonight!
  19. I picked up my 83 Royale today. There's quite a bit of rust on much of the chrome and white junk all over the other metal. Looks almost like an acid type stuff. Comes off easy though. The guy gave me a receipt for work he had done in 2006 but put less than 300 miles since then. His bill came to $900 and included new brakes, calipers rebuilt, fork seals, plugs, carb tune, new rear tire, and a bunch of other stuff. I paid $400 for the bike. I found a bottle of oil in the side bag and I just pray it wasn't oil he used. It was a bottle of energy saving oil - so first thing will be to change the oil. I would have done it anyway. I need to bleed the clutch line and get the battery charged up. I may keep it to ride to work or offer it to my brother in law who is looking for a ride.
  20. Randy - do you have your schedule? It would be awesome to meet up with you! Mark
  21. When I did mine - all I did was jack up the bike, removed were the two bolts, installed links, and that was it. I did have to take off the Carbon One adapter as I couldn't get one of the bolts out with the adapter under the bike. No real problem. It is a pretty easy mod and worth its weight in gold.
  22. It seems like every time I turn around I am wanting to buy something else for my RSV. I'm kind of afraid to add it up. Makes me wonder - what's the most money w/0 triking that someone has put into their RSV or Tour Deluxe after purchasing the bike?
  23. I used to hear a growl from the rearend but it went away when my wife quit riding! Just kidding!
  24. I just heard from them - mine is supposed to go out this week.
  25. I checked their website and they are supposed to be at Arizona Bike Week April 14-17. Too bad I live in Iowa!
