  1. Tried it - it won't go down the oil fill hole on the Venture. It was so easy just to take the plug out and put it back in. It didn't make much of a mess at all.
  2. I started something a couple of years ago that's kind of fun. I schedule a couple of "Ride With The Pastor" rides during riding season. We normally pick a destination and spend a Sunday afternoon riding. It connects me with people who have cycles in our church and helps me to get to know them better. Actually, I get to meet some husbands who may not attend church with their wives! Yesterday was our first ride. We left Newton and took a south then east route to avoid heavier traffic. Rode to the Amanas. One the way back we took a scenic route up to Tama where we ate at a great Mexican place. We did ride right past the Casino since the pastor was on the ride!! We left the church at 2 pm and got back to Newton at 8 pm. When we got back people were asking when our next ride was schedule. One of our young teenagers rode his 250 Suzuki as he a permit and kept right up with us. It was just a great day and fantastic time. If your pastor has a cycle you might mention this to him!!
  3. Grilled Lobster on a pastor's salary?????
  4. Yep - we are still counting on hosting it here in Newton. I'll get more details out to you as the day approaches. I'm debating on if we want to grill out at our house or walk a block over to the Pizza Ranch Buffet - any thought there??
  5. \ Actually, It came out with a 3/8th rachet and socket - not hard at all. Hmmmmmm -
  6. Congrats - I loved my Ultra Classic. It is a sweet ride. You will sell your Venture quickly as your price is very fair.
  7. The Hot Rod Power Tour starts tomorrow (Saturday) and begins in Newton, Iowa. It is estimated that we will have over 4,000 cars at the Iowa Speedway. There is no cost to view the cars! I think that's neat cause Goodguys are getting expensive. They pull out Sunday. If you are in Iowa it would make for a nice ride!!
  8. At least gas was a bit cheaper back then!
  9. I will pray for your soul!!!
  10. Now that the E3 make a world of difference on the front - I'm seriously considering spending the bucks for a back tire. I hate to give up a tire with only 2,000 miles on it - but it might be with it for the handling.
  11. Opps - here's the info on the Iowa Speedway program: http://www.racegass.com/
  12. You can do the same thing at our Iowa Speedway - looks a bit more expensive. I did a ride-a-long and it was a thrill!! The ride-a-long was free as I'm a chaplain!
  13. I have second generation - I'll check the bolt - thanks!
  14. When I removed my front wheel all I needed to do was loosen the main axle bolt and remove the calipers. I mounted the new tire and put the wheel back on then torqued the bolt to 58lbs. I read on a forum about an axle clamp bolt - is there a bolt I need to tighten to secure the main axle bolt?
  15. I still have the 404 in the rear. It only has 2,000 miles on it.
  16. I bought my Venture last fall and the front tire was getting worn out. He had replaced the back tire with a stock 404 just before I purchased it. I finally got around to getting a new front tire and wow - what a difference in handling! Almost as good as installing the links.
  17. The guy was selling them on Ebay for $20. Look like plastic pipe so it would be quite easy to duplicate. I just set my bags on an old furniture blanket.
  18. I had the same thing happen to me last week and I just pulled the plug - let a bit drain - checked it - drained some more - and perfecto!
  19. Looks like an awesome ride - why didn't you invite me along?
  20. http://images.craigslist.org/3ne3pe3ld5P65X65R0a6392a022c2e64a1536.jpg
  21. Thanks - I'll do it.
  22. I removed my front wheel to take it in for a new tire. When I put it back together do I need to put any grease on the axle?
  23. Wow - I was surprised that mine was here today! 7 days from overseas! Can't beat it!
  24. I took mine off when I put the tank bra on. I just pushed the extra cable into the ignition cover and it sticks out the side.
  25. If you have a friend who is 1/2 way mechanical they should be able to install them. It is quite simple and it will make a big difference in how your bike handles. Good luck!
