I have Headwinds driving and turn signal lights for my road star but only 1/2 the LEDs work in one turn signal. Headwinds is pricey for the module. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? Here is what I need. http://www.headwinds.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=headwinds01&Product_Code=8-9110A&Category_Code=

Vmax question

Assuming the engine is toast, what is it worth as a parts bike? -

Vmax question

My son reminded me that he is 38! After checking the prices for a Vmax motor I agree that a 1st Generation swap over is best. Not sure he wants that much of a hassle. I appreciate your insight! -
Vmax question
Godlover replied to Godlover's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
He's no kid! 41 years old, if my math is right -
My son is thinking of buying this Vmax to fix. I don't know much about them so I am posting the ad so people can see what needs fixed. How hard of fix will it be? http://desmoines.craigslist.org/mcy/3980451333.html

I realized that this year may be worse as I quit using my steroid nasal spray this summer. Yesterday I got a refill and will give it a shot. I ride with a half helmet, shield and ear plugs.
-
It seems that the day after I ride I struggle with my sinuses, a headache, and just seem worn out. It doesn't have to be a 200 mile trip either. I try to stay hydrated and wear earplugs. It seems worse this year and is spoiling my joy of riding. Yesterday was beautiful but after a short ride the day before I had a headache. Any suggestions?

It was great to get up to Anamosa this morning to meet a few of you at the museum. I pray that you all have a great rally and safe riding. I wish I would have been able to attend but having fun with our Vacation Bible School kids takes priority. If any of you pass by Newton and want to meet up, give me a shout!

Keep my 03 RSV and Vulcan or trade in for 08 Goldwing?? HELP !!!
Godlover replied to Barrycuda's topic in Watering Hole
In Iowa a person saves sales tax on the value of the trade in. Sometimes for me that will help make the deal over trading in a bike. -
I like what you have done to your bike. Mine is basically stock so I have been looking at what changes I can make. It has a cheap speaker system that might have to go. Looking at changing out the seat and getting a back rest. I did order the hard bags to replace the leather. Iron Horse had the cobalt blue on clearance for $600. I should be able to get a few bucks out of my leather bags to offset.

Randy, I saw an awesome custom 2000 MM Roadstar on Ebay a few years ago. It was a sweet bike!

If you've been around the forum you know I kinda like dealing on cycles. So far this year I have had a 96 Royal Star with bad engine, traded for a Goldwing and moped even up, sold both and made a good sized payment on a 2010 Voyager, took a 99 Road Star with Smitty Eagle Trailer as partial trade on the Voyager, had the Road Star and trailer 4 days and traded up to an 08 Roadstar. The Road Star is still a big bike but easier for me to handle with the kind of riding I do. I was hoping to move into a Tour Deluxe but the Road Star deal was too good to pass up and seems to meet my needs. For how long......who knows?

If I had my choice of Harley's it would be a Road Glide. The fixed fairing makes it handle wonderful. I had an 05 Roadglide and an 05 Ultra. I liked the Road Glide best.

My son and I were sitting on the back deck and he saw my bike out by the garage. He came right up the steps and started talking. Nice guy and I think his name was Oscar. Anyway, I told him this site had wonderful people so don't let me down!

I met a guy today from Mason City, Iowa who purchased a new 2012 Venture. I invited him to check out the site and told him about the upcoming rally. He seemed very interested especially in getting to Galena. Hope he makes it and joins up!

Well, the 2010 Voyager is history as I sold it to a guy who traded in a nice 99 Road Star with a sweet trailer. I really liked the Voyager even better than my Ventures but wanted to ditch the loan payment. My goal is to keep bartering and trading up to get back into a tour deluxe. I put the Roadstar on some Facebook pages for $5000.

You waited now it's here Rally Schedule For Galena
Godlover replied to Rick Haywood's topic in Watering Hole
Looks great! Wish we didn't have Vacation Bible School scheduled for that week! Maybe I can ride up to Anamosa on Monday, do lunch and be back in Newton in time. Our daughter is the manager at Walmart in Galena so if you shop there her name will be on your receipt: Melissa. Have a great time! -
I take it that you won't be stopping in Newton? I was looking forward to hosting you!

I live close to the 03 near Des Moines and can check it out for you. He has a good price on it too.

I think the reason you don't see many is this is only the 4th year and Kawasaki quit making touring bikes for 6 years. The current RSV has been the same for 14 years thus three times as many seen on the road. In the same way Yamaha did a poor job advertising the Royal Stars, Kawasaki has done a poor job doing the same with the Voyager. I can see how the exhaust may be a problem in Florida but the guy I talked to who solved the heat problem by wrapping his pipes lived in the south. I find the faring and trunk are solid but I struggle a bit getting the saddle bags latched. It may be something I need get used to latching them. The bags and trunk seem to have more space than either the RSV or the HD.
-
From what I read it is quite a job to gut the cats on the newer Voyagers. I am happy with the performance and if heat gets to be a problem I will try to wrap the pipes.

I have had my 2010 Voyager for two weeks and I absolutely love the ride. Every day I have ridden it has been very windy and it rides like a dream. The stock seat wasn't for me so I bought a gel seat that sits me higher which is better. The Mustang seat a guy let me try pushed me too far forward. It has 6 speeds with the 6th being overdrive. I don't get into overdrive on the back roads. According to the computer I am getting 50 mpg which I doubt. Mine has a power commander and has plenty of get up and go. Some people complain that the stock set up is a bit doggy. There is heat off the exhaust pipes as stated in the forums. Not worse than my Harley's and I talked to a guy who wrapped his with exhaust tape and got rid of the heat. You can't see the tape as it hides under the heat shield. I will wrap mine if need be. The vents on the lowers is nice. I like the fuel injection but it does take premium gas...but If I am really getting 50 mpg who cares! The radio is awesome and I love the speakers. There are great deals on the Voyagers and they are nice bikes.
