I am interested in putting Metzler ME888 Marathon Ultra tires on my 2006 RSTD. The stock tire sizes for this bike are: 150/90HB-15 Rear MT90HB-16 Front The closest size in the Metzler (rear tire) is 150/80B-16 My question: will this work on my bike, or is a 16" tire too wide? (The front tire is 16). Any technical tire help anyone can give will be appreciated. And . . . anyone have any experience with the ME888 Marathon Ultras? Thanks.

best tire recommendation

After reading all the posts and talking with some locals, I ended up putting Avon Venoms on both front and rear. Haven't had a chance for a sizable cross-country ride yet, but the hundred miles here and there that I've done has me smiling. Very nice handling on my '06 RSTD . . . we'll see how many miles I get out of them. -

Avon Venoms seem to pop up a lot. Anybody have a distinct preference for anything else . . . and why? Thanks to those of you who have responded. -
With all the good reports on Venturerider about the Michelin Commander I was hyped to buy them for my '06 RSTD. NONE available anywhere I could find. Called Michelin and the tech rep said they've discontinued them in the sizes 150/80-16 (front) and 150/90B 15 (rear). So unless someone can direct me to a source for a matched front-rear set of Commanders, I'm looking for a recommendation on the next best option. Avon Venom ? Please and thank you.

Has anyone taken the fairing from a Venture and mounted it on a Tour Deluxe? If so, can one simply take off the stock speedo on the RSTD and mount the Venture fairing without adding any special mountings? If mounting hardware is needed, does it replace the windshield hardware on the Tour Deluxe? I like the Venture look but need to stick with my Tour Deluxe, which already has the Venture trunk and passenger seat. Pics on my homepage. Hoppe wants big bucks for their radio equipped fairing and I really don't need or want the audio . . . and they don't sell a fairing without the radio/CD. Any guidance would be appreciated. If it's workable, I'll be looking for an undamaged upper fairing off of a salvage Venture. Thanks.

Still looking for Saddlebag Lid Trim for my 06 RSTD. Yamaha wants $177 + some for the governor. Cheapest I have found online is $144+. Would really like to find a used or salvage pair in GOOD shape. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks. Peaceful crusin'

Is that a Hoppe fairing? If not, I'd appreciate knowing what make, where it can be found, and at what price. Thanks. Kingtut -

Hey Naturbar . . . did you go directly to Hoppe for the upper fairing . . . and how much does one have to fork out? Also, if I ordered a Hoppe for my 2006 RSTD (which has a light bar), will any modifications have to be done to install it? Celebrate Life : Live Christ Kingtut -
Tech note: Just replaced the stock handlebars on my 06 RSTD with a Flanders bar that has a 2.5" longer pullback. I went through desert and swamp to find the right bar. Earlier on this forum I was advised that the Flanders G2 Road Glide was the ticket. Wrong ticket! The advisor must have assumed I ride a Venture, which the G2 fits. The narrow center dimension on the G2 is only 6", which is NOT wide enough for the RSTD speedo to fit. I first ordered the G2 and they sent one that fits a sorry HD. I returned it and they sent the G2 that fits a Venture, which I don't own. The proper bar for the Tour Deluxe is the H-Bar Wide Max Pullback, part # 650-08783, which I purchased at Phat Performance for $127. I returned the second G2 and got the H-Bar in return. While not inordinately difficult, the installation is a bit fussy and takes an hour and a half or so. I did NOT have to buy longer cables, but did have to re-route existing cables . . . which included pulling the tank for proper placement. I also added Kuryakyn ISO Grips, which add a sharp look and dampen vibrations. The difference is very noticeable. I can now sit against the backrest and not have my arms fully extended and shoulder joints pulled forward. Haven't taken any long trips yet, but driving around town feels much better. To reinforce for Tour Deluxe riders who want a longer pullback: it's Flanders H-Bar Wide Max Pullback, part # 650-08783.

Anybody out there have any saddlebag lid trim rails they want to get rid of? Used is fine if the chrome is still good. I need ones that will fit my 06 RSTD . . . although I think the lid trim is exactly the same for the RSV and RSTD. Part number is STR-1D672-50-00. Please give me a shout and how many razbucks you'd be looking for if they are available. Thanks ps I've already added the side saddlebag trim rails . . . they're just not in this picture.
