  14. Ok, I'll answer my own post. After letting then risers sit for about 30 min I tried the socket again. I was able to move the riser about a 16th of a turn. I kept adding wd40 an slowly moving it back and forth until it finally freed up and came out. I had to do the same thing on the other side too. After 15 years I shouldn't have been suprised that ther was some corrosion on the shank.
  15. I bought a set of Venture risers from Pinwall to put on my 96 RSTC. I have the bars off and the lower nut from the old risers. I can't seem to get the old riser off. I've tried to tap it from the bottom with a block of wood and hammer. And I also tried to turn it with a socket in the riser where the bars go. It won't budge. Any ideas?
  16. It just so happens that I just bought a set o 02 Venturer risers from Pinwall on Ebay last night. They should be here around the end of the week and have them install them over the weekend. I will be installing them on my 96 RSTD. I was also thinking about adding the 1.5 in riser extention, but I wanted to see what the risers were like before I spend the money on something I might not need.
  17. I had he same problem with my son's 08 Mazda 3. I thought it was the bearings too. I had it checked at the dealer and bearings were fine but the tires were cupped and it did sound like mud tires on a truck. We put a new set of Kumo's on it and everything is fine now. If you have new tires (or fairly new), they can be trued (shaved) to eliminate the cupping. You'll loose some milage but it can buy some time until you can get a new set.
  18. Don, the classisfied section is great but there is no specific place to discuss the things that are for sale there. The link at in the menu bar isn't as noticable as the topic in the forums. You might think about creating a Sticky Thread in the Watering Hole or the Home thread page for discussion of the classified section. Then after the item is sold the member who posted it can PM you to remove the thread. Just my
  19. I remember the line Nick Nolte said in the movie 48 hours " The coldest winter I spent, was the summer I spent in San Francisco". I spent 2 summers in SF and he was right. I'm not sure what the weather will be in december but I don't think it will be in the 80's. The PCH down the coast is a great ride. There are great views and plenty of places to stop and sightsee. Yosemite most likely will have snow by then so I would check before making that trip. The biggest trees are Sequoias but the redwoods are huge too. You can see redwoods up along Skyline drive just south of SF. A trip out to Napa is always nice. Lots of beautiful country to see in the valley. Wherever you go I'm sure you'll have a great ride. Be safe and enjoy.
  20. I thought you'd be halfway to Orlando by now. The weather is here, wish you were fine.
  21. I got back from my ride to Leesburg last night around 6:30. Man did I have a great time. The trip through the Ocala National Forest is a fantastic ride. No traffic, beautiful weather (sorry guys up north) and an open road. Checked my MPG when I filled up in Leesburg. 155 miles and 3.2 gal got me 48.4mpg.Topped it off at home with 114 miles and 2.3 gal and got 49.5mpg. I went 269 miles and used 5.5 gal. Thats 48.9 MPG!!! Even I can't believe the scoot did that good. The numbers don't lie.
  22. I know the feeling. I got my bjke last Feb and the longest trip I've been on was to Daytona for Biketoberfest last month. Tomarrow morning I'm going to Leesburg to vist my parents. I'm going by way of J&P cycles (Bruce Rossmeyer HD) in Daytona so it's @300 miles round tip. Can't wait to get on the road.
  23. You should have saved that one for the Geat Venture Scavenger Hunt:thumbsup:
  24. I have had great success with "HijackThis" from SpyWareInfo.com. You can download it from CNET.com so you know it's clean. The best part is the forum support to clean your computer. Kind of like VentureRiders, all the help (professional) with none of the BS (well maby not like VR) . It will take several runs of different programs to clean the entire system but it works. You post the log file created by HijackThis on the forum and 1 tech works with you untill it's fixed. I have been walked through cleaning 2 systems that I couldn't wipe and reload due to backup issues (lack of). You can read the reviews and basic instructions at this site and others. 25. I learned something new today. I have a 96 RSTD and it has 1" bars with the Kuraykn grips. I thought that the RSV had 1" bars also. BTW I love the Kuraykn grips. My clutch side does move because I was afraid to put too much glue on it in case I didn't like them and wanted to remove them. Now that I am sure I'm not going to change, I'll put some more on (when I get around to it).
