Well looks like a great bike, However also look at the Price !!! Wow !!! Ok, now bring up the Spec Sheets, and make direct comparison to the Suzuki GSX 1300-R. Much less wgt, longer wheel base, bigger tank, More HP, 1 inch lower seat hgt, better front forks, and 9 years of proven technology. ( not to mention, 0 to 60 in 2.4 to 2.6 seconds ) Hmmm and just look at the price !!! $11,999 Verse $17, 900 ----- OK, if I buy the Max, what do I get for the Extra 6K ???????

All you need to do, is remove the right side muffler, after you get it up on the lift, the wheel will come out, after the Brake assembly removed. Only raise bike high enough for the Wheel to clear. Has your Drive shaft, EVER been pulled out and Hand Greesed ????? IF not, !! after removeing the wheel, also remove the 4 nuts that hold the pumpkin on, and then pull out the drive shaft. HAND greese with Heavy Greese the Front Spline of the Drive shaft. Also, check for signs of SAE-90 leaking from the Drive Unit , INTO the Drive shaft houseing assembly. IF so, there is an Oil Seal, front of the Pumpkin, my need to be replaced. Also check your wheel bearings, Maby greese them . SEE: page 6-6 of service manual, see items #10, and #11, pull out the 6 large Pins, and clean all these parts, and Greese, before reassembly. l And of course, change the SAE - 90 in the Drive unit.

Rear Spring
GeorgeS replied to Viperpash's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, you should be running AT Least 40lb in the Rear Tire !! ( Minimum ) When the Wheel is off, be sure to pull the 3 Cross bolts, for the Suspension Linkage under the Rear Shock assembly. Pull those bolts out and Hand greese them. They most likley be rusted, and worn. Good time to Install Zerk fittings so in future they will be easy to service. Also on each side where the supension connect to the Swing Arm, be sure to remove and hand greese them also. -
Rather then pay high price to change just one tire. Get the " Bike Lift" Sears has been selling for around $80. Remove the tire yourself, then call around all bike shops in your area, find out what they charge to change it if you bring in the Wheel. Look for an Independent, in the area, they are usually cheaper. Just yesterday, there were 2 more reports of the Metzler, chunking !!! They have some QQ Problems. Dunlop, Avon, or Michilan, anything but Metzler !!! You can order the E- III from Southwest Moto for about $120

Torque should be set, so on Center Stand, The bars should " Fall " to the Stops, but with some noticable Friction as they fall. They must not Just Flop to the " Stops". I reccomend you do this check before you start dissassembling to do the repair. So you have a refference point. As the previous, posting, you have to be sure the cables are not interfering when you do the drop test. Wherever the Nut is set now, 5 to 10 Degrees of CW rotation should be the most you would have to add. However New bearings would change this. I suggest you " Mark " the current Settings of the nut, for refference.

air box mod.??????
GeorgeS replied to Silver Bullet's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I found that about 6, -- 1/2 inch ---diameter holes, is about right. If you go to much, it will decrese engine performance. To prove this, simply Remove the cover, and go for a short ride. -
If it hit 90 today, I would hit the road and not stop till I got to Los Angeles !!!!!!!!! 8 AM right now, 49.5 Deg. F, Heavy Overcast, and drizzle !! I'm seriously thinking about hitting the road for Redding Calif. Just to sit in the Sun for a couple of days !!!

Speedometer Quit
GeorgeS replied to 86Royale's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
on 1st gen, to remove the " cluster" remove windshield and trim, and headlight, then a couple bolts, Not hard to do. Just go slow. However just by removeing the headlight assembly, useing a " long " long nose plyers, you can reach up in the area and get the " Outer Shroud " , remove by loosening the Nut with the plyers. At the Speedo end, basicly the same set up as you see down at the Front Axel end of the cable. The INNER cable drops right out from the bottom, Start here, pull it out and if its not damaged, just hand greese it, the entire length. I just shot some light lubricating Oil up into the Speedo Bushing, after removeing the Outer shroud The bushing get dry, thats what causes the problem -
I just happen to know that Labs Love to ride in Side Cars !!! Thats the way to go. Side Car !!! And strap him down, to prevent Weight Transfer !! Also, you will have to have Dark Tinted Window, or Cockpit cover , Cause if the Animal Rights folks see you with a dog on your ride, your in trouble !!!

Oil change question
GeorgeS replied to Locomotive's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bike on Center Stand, Your Oil should be 1/2 way up To Center of Site Glass !! Trust us on this, If you overfill you will start getting a lot of Blow by into the Intake. Put in 3 1/2 qts Max, run, let it settle, see what you have. -
We hit 54 in Seattle today, Heat Wave, the sun came out for about 2 hours. Amazing thing is, the Grass just keeps growing, no matter how cold it gets !!!

Speedometer Quit
GeorgeS replied to 86Royale's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
First, remove the Cable shroud at the front Axel. Then Pull out the Inner cable, check its condition. It might be a twisted mess. Then remove the other end at the speedo, and determine if the bushing if frozen, or not. You might get a temporary fix, just by shooting some lubricant up in there. -
Install a 2200 ohm Resistor, in series with the lead to a " switched " 12 volt point. On the fuse block. No need to have voltage, thru the resistor when Ing Switch is " OFF " The Resistor will lower the voltage to about 4 volts, going to the Display panel. If the Instrument panel display, is still working, Your lucky !!
