  1. As a general rule of thumb, I have gotten the best milage from Dunlops. I presently have a continental installed, about 8K on it, and it looks like it will not last as long as the previous Dunlops. ( but no complaints as to handling for the present continental i have installed ) I have never used Avons. So cannot comment on them.

  3. Examine your radiator cap! Does it look like its ever been Replaced ??? Bad cap, can cause overheating. If not, I would replace it simply due to age. If you replace the Thermostate, be carfull not to overtorque the plastic cover on the thermostate, its made of plastic and if you overtorque the two bolts that hold it on, it will not reseal. I suggest ordering new thermo, cover, and o-rings. Also if you do this job, its a good time to replace All the rubber hoses around the front of the Radiator.
  4. NGK Wires's and caps, work great. there is a guy in Wisconsin, supplies matched sets. I forgot the name. Or just get the wire and resistor caps from auto supply, cut them to length. You can also order them on line from auto supply. The stock wires are Solid copper wire. Thats what you want to use, not the stuff used on cars now. Be Sure to Replace the old Caps!!!!!!! Be sure to use Solid Copper conductor Wires. Don't use Graphite Auto wires The new NGK caps have enough resistance. Update: I found this on E-Bay, pull up this " Item number" 220018002288
  5. There are a few things I could say, but I'll keep my mouth shut on this one. Think Safty, would sum it up !! Good Rideing
  6. At the Large White Plug, with the 3 #14 wires comeing from the Alternator: Do the following: Measure the AC voltage on each wire. You can stick the meter probs into the end of the White Plug. ( located just behind left rear cylinder, White connector, with 3 white wires thru it ) With Engine running, you should Read 9 to 15 volts AC, ( thats AC, not DC ) on each wire. If the voltage on " one" wire is substantially , Lower then the other two, then your Alternator is failing. This is a much better way to check it then useing the Resistance reading method given in the Service Manual.
