Windshield Advice Needed
JerryT replied to BG Hawks's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
rumboogy, Sorry for the delayed anwser. I'm not sure which vent as it came in the sheild. I think it is a Honda, but again not sure. They mounted mine up higher so I could keep my windsheild bags. Works well but air hits more in the chin area more then the chest if it were mounted lower. For me, I like the extra storage so it is what I wanted. Just call them and they will help with what you want. They really seem like great people. Also are giving a 10% discount right now. Jerry -
Windshield Advice Needed
JerryT replied to BG Hawks's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yes it is 2" wider on each side plus 2" higher. Not sure how much less wind on hands, but gives very calm air behind the screen. I also had the vent put in. Jurry is still out on this. Only issue is it let moisture in during the rain. Not sure I like that, but do like the extra air when hot. BTW, F4 was great to deal with and answer any questions. -
Windshield Advice Needed
JerryT replied to BG Hawks's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I cut my stock RSV sheild down by 5 1/2". No issues with delaminating. I really liked it, problem was my wife decided to start riding and hated the wind buffering. Just put a new F4 Custom tall on. She has yet to ride with it yet, but I just got home from a 4000 mile trip, and so far am impressed with it. First day hit 150 miles of rain. I was supprised how well I could actually see in the rain through the sheild. No comparasion to stock. -
Looks from your profile you have a 08 RSV. You can add a RTB (run-turn-brake) controller to get the blinkers to stay on fulltime. You should have clear lenses so just need to change lamps. If you want more light look at custom dynamics. They have both led turns and a led board for the current brake light that are very good. For RTB, I used the Kuryakyn #4613 which is a direct plug and play. Goes under the drivers seat and plugs in very easy. I do not believe you can make the led trunk light work a blinker since I think it is a 2 wire light. No way to blink only half of it unless you find a way to split the circuit. You can get it to blink / then go solid for a brake light. I wanted something similar and added a light under the trunk. Used 2 - 24 led light bars, hooked up with blinkers / running lights. Here is a picture of the back of mine. Hope this helps.

Run Turn Brake LED - problem
JerryT replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like it could be mis-wired to me. If you can't get it to work and need another, I suggest the Kuryakyn 4613. This is a direct plug and play for the RSV and what I have on mine. Kuryakyn doesn't show the 4613 is for the RSV for some reason, but it works on the second gens. -
Been watching this with lots of interest. It looks like the custom dynamics lamps have 162 led's compared to 120 led's on these. Would think the CD lamp would be brighter, but at 3 times the cost seem high. Has anyone been able to compare side by side and are there any other differences?

Hello from a potential new owner
JerryT replied to Sean's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I know you were looking for new, but here's an 08 with 667 miles for $9300. Don't know anything about this bike, but to me, as soon as you drive a new one off the lot, what's it worth. Might be worth looking at. Either way good luck. http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/mcy/2000968764.html -
Since you said 'thin', I was wanting the same thing. Something that easily fits in you shirt pocket. I found the Sony DSC-TX1. Normally 299 but found at the local Best Buy for 172 on closeout. I've had several Sony's and always liked them. Haven't taken many pictures yet but so far looks good. As for size, about 1/2" thick, or about the same size as my blackberry. Check you local BB if you like as it still shows full price online. If they don't have one out ask them to check inventory, because the store I went to had them but none out on the shelves.

Don't know anything about this one, but a 07 for 7988 with 2 yrs warr left. Kansas City Craigs list. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/1943382644.html

Stopped by my local dealer today for demo day. They also say no idea when the new RSV will appear but hope in the next couple of years. They claim to be the #5 venture dealer in the country and normally have RSV's in stock. Said they are only being alloted 1-2011 RSV and not to happy about it. Makes you wonder how many Yammy is producing this year and why not more if the dealers are asking for them. Good side is if they limit production, ours should hold value better for those looking to sell.

Don't know anything about this midnight in Kansascity area on craigslist, but a 07 for about the same price. If it is real, it should still have war. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/1884568506.html Either way, best luck finding what you want.

This was my first meet. Nice meeting everyone and had a great time. We had a nice ride Sat, a little hot towards the end, but a great ride the the hills. Thanks again and look forward to seeing more of you in the future.

I am looking at that one also. At first thought I would be smart and mounted mine inside the fairing on the front. Worked great and completly out of sight. Only problem, I found out the xm radio id is in the antenna which meant when I went to put the gps in the car, I needed the same ant. to use the xm radio. So much for trying to make things easy.

Not sure how it works as I don't use it, but is does have a 2.5mm mic jack on the motorcycle mount power cable. Also uses 3.5 mm audio out jack.

FYI, I think the Garmin Zumo $100 rebate ends on July 4th if that matters.
-
I also have the 665. On my last trip of 2300 miles also saw some of the issues with it randomly shutting off. Have updated software since, but no long trips to check fix. I am a big xm fan which is why I wanted the 665. Also agree the weather pkg is great. Lets you know when you are about to get wet and works extemely well. First time I got one up on my brothers wings with navi. Both were wishing they had the weather feature. FYI, got mine from PCNation for 852, and garmin has a MIR of $100 going now, still pricey but probably worth it.

Had mine done at the dealer first time. Only thing he did that trip. $27 total OTD.

I had one on my roadie. No problems with it at all and worked very well. I added XM to the aux input and that also worked very well. I think on one hand its pricey, but still the best unit I found when I was looking, and I would buy another one if I needed one.

Driver Backrest
JerryT replied to mmkleine's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have the Utopia. Works great and easy install. If you go this way, remember to lay something like an old tag on the fender when you drill out the holes just to make sure the drill doesn't hit the fender. Very easy install. -
Looking for a gps. I know lots of threads, but looking for feedback on who has a 665 and how you like it todate. Also any pictures of how mounted it and antenna mt would be appreciated. Did everything come with it to mount? I think the price is nuts, but I want gps with built-in XM and Garmin has a $100 rebate going right now on zumo's which helps. Thanks in advance for imput.

If its just a virus and you can still connect online, you might try geeksquad.com. They do many repairs / virus removal remotely online. If you can't connect to the internet, not sure they can help. I think they only charge you if they can fix it so only out your time if they can't fix it. At least you don't have to wait 2 weeks. Just a thought and good luck with the repair. BTW, I don't work for them, and fortunately for me my son can fix about anything with computers. Only problem with this is now I can't fix them at all.

Took mine out day one. Best I can remember it pulls straight out. Might have been a c-clamp on the cord an inch over, but nothing on the plug itself. Hope this helps.

Do they make a different sheild then listed on their website? I read that the 17.5 is the direct replacement for stock and is the same width. The 19.5 is 2 inches taller and 4 inches wider then stock. I'm thinking I would like the stock heigth with the 4 inch xtra width, but don't see that listed, and vent is a must. Am I missing something?
