  1. I'm a +1. I don't feel like my RSV gets moved around nearly as much as my 1st Gen did. The 1st Gen may be more aerodynamic from the front, but it's the crosswinds that really get you. I don't think a 2nd Gen is as bothered by crosswinds due to the wider tires and being lower profile. But what do I know...my degree is in English.
  2. Personally, I've always loved the "wind in face" feeling on a motorcycle. However, I just discovered that when I went down to an 8" windshield on my RSV that, while the wind was nice, the air current directed a large amount of bugs (bees) directly at my face. Still undecided on which shield I'm going to use, may just switch back and forth based on my mood.
  3. I started with having the Butler seat mod which helped a bunch, but didn't overcome my inseam deficiency. I just lowered the front last week by raising the forks in the tree by an inch. Took it out Sunday and hit some twisties and had no issues at all. Actually, the only thing I noticed was that the bike handled a whole lot better, but some of that could be the new progressive springs.
  4. It may be a Craigslist thing. I just did an ebay search and their are 19 2nd Gens and 4 1st Gens listed. That is a little more than there were last year when I was shopping for my bike.
  5. Thanks Goose!! Just added that one to my "wish list". It looked like it would be handy for doing light maintaince.
  6. Since we've been talking about center stands and bike lifts, etc., I was wondering if this would work on an RSV. What do you guys think? http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ91220
  7. The wife and I were going to go down, but I looked in a buddy's Wing World and it said admission was like $35 each. Don't think I'll be paying $70 for us to walk around a vendor area for a day. If this is wrong info, please let me know because I would like to check it out if it's more affordable.
  8. Very nice bike and I do like those colors. BTW my bike started out that color before the PO had it flamed. I'm really liking my RK pipes too. You did well.
  9. My 1st Gen is still going strong and now belongs to my cousin and her husband.
  10. I've been a member on that site for a lot of years and it is very well designed. I haven't been there much for the past year or so since I pretty much quit fishing and am now putting everything in the bike.
  11. I still say the bike is the cheapest form of entertainment out there. Even at $10 a gallon, a full tank is still cheaper than dinner and a movie and a whole lot more fun. I don't think gas prices will ever affect my "fun rides", but it will probably stop me from doing other things.
  12. All I can say is "WOW"!!! The front end doesn't float over bumps any more and it's much more stable at parking lot speeds. (not to mention my feet now touch the ground)
  13. I'm on my 2nd Blackberry and I'm very happy with them. Very reliable and no quality issues at all. Good web browser too and my current phone has wifi so the internet is just as fast as on my home PC. I'll be upgrading to another Blackberry in the next year or so.
  14. Gas prices will probably have me riding more. I'm already riding my bike to work every day the weather isn't nasty. Even if gas prices double what they are now, it's still cheaper to spend the weekend on the bike than it is to load up in the truck and go out to eat. Or even worse, take the wife SHOPPING!!!
  15. I've been enjoying the thread the was just revisited about drilling out the stock RSV mufflers. Got me to thinking about my Road King mufflers and wanting to get them a bit louder. I've read all the threads I can find, but I'm still not getting it for some reason. The thread about the stock mufflers has pics, so I was finally able to get my head around that process. Can anybody offer any visual help with the RK mufflers? I'd like to do mine if I can figure it out.
  16. I might be up for riding over on Saturday. +1 to talking about it a little closer in.
  17. Yep, thems the eyebrows. And 2nd Gens don't need to be fast, we're not trying to outrun the ugly.
  18. You have IM!!!
  19. Hey Randy. My parents are big into Miata's and are members of the local Miata club. Their current one is an automatic and it'll still scoot. I did a few laps with it last summer at BMS and was very impressed. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/BMS.jpg
  20. Come on Monty, we've got plenty of room. I'm in Blountville which is between Kingsport and Bristol. Also very close to Johnson City and we do have some great roads around here to ride. Holler and I'll be glad to show them to you.
  21. Hey, need some help pretty quick. I've searched, but I can't find a thread that has instructions or pics on the install procedure for replacing the front fork springs with Progressives on a 2nd Gen. I need to know how far to break the bike down and pics of the process. Does anyone know of a link or tech article? Like I've said, I tried a few searches and got nada. I really appreciate the help.
  22. I apologize, I don't know that much about the Bluetooth helmet headsets, but I like the flexibility with Bluetooth to connect to my phone, GPS, etc. Is there an interface to connect a Bluetooth helmet headset into the RSV intercom, stereo and CB? Being able to do away with that annoying headset cord would be awesome.
  23. Can I get some more info? How much $$ and what does the patch look like?
  24. Thanks Boomer, I really appreciate this info and the thread. While I have no desire to be or dress like a 1%er, it's good to know what to expect when I happen to encounter them. Actually, I've met a few at gas stations, etc and they were always very polite, after all we do share a love of motorcycles and riding. We just don't agree on lifestyle. Now if for any reason I find myself in their "house" (most likely by accident) I will respect their rules. If they were in my house I would expect the same from them. I'm not going to be disrespectful by going into their house and tell them how to act, but in the same respect at my house I will violently defend my rules and my way of life. I would think most people feel the same way.
  25. IMHO, everyday around town riding is harder on any vehicle than a long distance cruise. Yeah, I would trust mine in a heartbeat however I would probably want fresh tires on it before I headed out.
