I have always been very impressed with Valkyries, they are an awesome bike. I was looking closely at them when I bought my RSV. The kicker was the RSV fit me a lot better than the Valk did, but I really did consider the Valk hard. Actually the guy I bought my RSV from sold it to buy another Valk. Good choice!

I found these pics in an old file and I realized I never posted them here. I took my daughter to get her driver's license earlier this spring and this guy was parked at the DMV. Don't think I've ever seen a bike quite like this one. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjEtMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ni5qcGc.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjMtMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ny5qcGc.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyNjItMjAxMTA1MDMtMTQ1Ny5qcGc.jpg

Very nice!!! I've gotta admit, Goldwings age the most gracefully of any bike I know.

Moving the inner faring
elmicko replied to elmicko's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for the info. I'm not installing the Baron's, I'm replacing the factory handlebar risers because one is stripped. -
Happy Birthday!!! Hope it's great.

My searching ability must really be lacking because I usually have a hard time finding past threads, etc on here when I try to search for a specific topic. Anyway, is there a write up or instructions on removing the inner faring? I have split mine many times, but I need to be able to move the inner faring forward a couple of inches to install new handlebar risers. I've got one that the threads are almost stripped out and I want to replace that sucker ASAP. As always, I really appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks Dingy. I'm going to take a closer look at it tonight when I get it down in my garage. I'm hoping I can find some easy way to take off the nipple and attractively plug the hole. Not real sure how I'm going to do this, but it's worth a shot. I'll post back if it presents a problem. Love the new bars, but the install has ended up being a major PITA.

Sorry to post this one here, but I need an answer pretty quick. I just put RSTD bars on my RSV and after riding it I found that something just didn't feel right. After getting down and looking, the left side of the bar is hitting the air inlet on top of the fork, and not seating good in the riser. I did have the forks lowered in the triple tree. The right side is turned in a little so it's not touching. What would be the best way to fix the left so it won't touch the bar? I installed progressive springs, so I'm not running air in the forks.

I've found the easiest thing to do is use something like the Photobucket site and post the pics there. Then all you have to do is insert the IMG code that Photobucket provides the pics will appear in your message. It's a LOT easier than it sounds.

I've got a set of RSTD bars on the way to install on ol' blue and I'm looking for all the information I can find on rerouting the throttle cables. Anybody have any tips or even pics to help a guy figure all of this out? I'm a little mechanically challenged.

I have the 8" smoke Slipstreamer windshield on my RSV. I really like it especially for summer riding. I'm 5'6" and it directs air over the top of my head at anything above 40mph. If you're taller, you could go with one of the taller shields for the same effect. Here is a pic of my bike with that shield. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyODktMjAxMTA2MDctMTU1OS5qcGc.jpg

LOL One of the first things I did when I got my 2nd Gen was check out the tool kit. Compared to the one that came with my 86 Venture Royale, I wasn't too impressed. So now the owner of my old 1st Gen has a really nice tool kit from a 2nd Gen and the 1st Gen toolkit is riding in my 2nd Gen's saddlebag. Works for me.

Hello...Newbie here...Questions about possible purchase.
elmicko replied to paai1993's topic in Watering Hole
I'm pretty darn vertically challenged myself. The first thing I did was have Rick Butler do the seat mod and that helped me reach the ground better, plus it's now the most comfortable motorcycle seat that's ever met my tail. Personally, I wouldn't lower the back of the bike, but I did drop mine in the front by 1" by sliding the forks up in the triple tree. That was the best mod I have done, you wouldn't believe how easy it is to steer at parking lot speeds now. It also feels much more balanced and stable under me now. There are tech articles that describe how to do this. -
Well, which ones did you buy??? I need to know who to haggle with!! Dang, I love this place.

Just looking for some options. I think I read on here somewhere that the stock handlebars from a RoadGlide will fit an RSV and provide better reach for stubby arms, can anybody confirm this? How about Road King bars? Both are 1" diameter.

I don't actually was my bike very often, I just clean it with either Bassboat Saver (enzyme cleaner / wax combination) or Pink Wax. Both take bugs off really good and leave a great shine, but Pink Wax is actually a better wax. A bottle will last me over a year. I use both on all the paint and the windshield. If it does get really dirty (like riding in a rainstorm) I'll spray it down really good with S100 and then go over the paint with either of those. Here are the links for both products, I highly recommend them. http://www.pinkwax.net/ http://www.bassboatsaver.com/

Actually, It's Bubber's thread. He's got first shot at them. I jumped in front of him without thinking. If he don't want them for any reason, then let me know. It's all good.
