OK, I'm tired of boogering up the heads of the master cylinder screws every time I need to add brake fluid to my bike. Does anybody know where I can order that size screw in hardened stainless or an allen head???

I haven't been able to find any way to lower these bikes, but I'm rather vertically challenged myself. I pulled the cover back on my seat and shaved about 2 1/2" off of the seat it's self and about 1/2" off of each side where the legs go over to hold the bike up when stopped. Now I have no problem getting both feet firmly on the ground. And I actually believe the seat is more comfortable now than it was before I started. Good luck, go slow and it's no problem.

I wish I was anal enough to check my mileage before and after, but I didn't. Sorry, but I can tell I'm going farther on a tank if that helps any. -

Yep and it worked great. It's also easy to do while you have to carb diaphragms out for changing. Best to do both at the same time. It only took Randy and I a little over an hour. It would have been quicker, but I was helping. LOL -
Got to mark an item off the bucket list on Saturday. My parents got to an age they didn't feel comfortable on their Gold Wing any longer and switched over to a Miata. They had a fundraiser Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway and I had the opportunity to take their car for 5 laps. It was a blast, they kept us below 65, but on a steep half mile track you could still have some fun. Here's a pic my wife took as we were pulling on to the track. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/BMS.jpg

And following that same logic, the first few pint or so you put in your car when you turned the pump on actually belonged to that guy who used the pump before you got there, so it all equals out.

I think sometimes it has more to do with the individual personality of the bike. My 86 doesn't really like regular, but runs like a scalded dog on premium while others have the opposite results. Go figure.

I did the same thing, put in what the manual said and it was to the top of the sight glass. After a couple of good rides, it was back down to between the two lines. Mine doesn't leak and isn't burning oil, so I assume after it got pushed through the system oil settled everywhere it needed to be. I still wouldn't be concerned if the level didn't drop, we're really only talking about less than a quart.

Tippy or Top Heavy?

I'm pretty well "vertically challenged" too and had a heck of a time when I first got my VR. First, when I bought it I hadn't been on a bike in 20 years and then I stepped on an 800 pound, top-heavy monster. I would pucker up and suck a hickey on the seat anytime I had to stop. After a bunch of seat time, those issues started working themselves out. I only have a 29" inseam so I never felt comfortable having to tip-toe the bike at stops, so this winter I pulled the seat off and shaved about 2" out of the padding and narrowed the front of the seat a bit to give me a better angle at the ground when seated. That made a huge difference in the balance of the bike and believe it or not, the seat is more comfortable with some padding removed. It's still plenty cushy too, you may want to look at that option. Also I can now flat-foot the bike when stopped. -
No brake pressure at lever
elmicko replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It just needed to be burped. It looked like an air bubble had decided to collect there. All is good now. I just got a little confused about the "crush washer" comment. I do appreciate you're help buddy. -

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I've got some stuff to try tonight. If you need me, I'm off to buy about a gallon of brake fluid. -

Can someone post a pic of the banjo bolt? I have no idea where it is or what it looks like. -
One side of the caliper for my front right side brake was seized, so I took it off and cleaned it really good. I managed to get the pistons moving again. When I reinstalled it on the bike and bled the brakes, I can't get any pressure to the lever. Fluid is moving into the caliper and will shoot out the bleed valve, but I still can't get pressure. So far I've tried holding my finger over the bleed valve to use as a check valve while pumping the brake and I also pulled the line off the caliper to make sure it was getting fluid. The caliper is full, fluid is coming out of the check valve, but I still can't get pressure. What gives??? I'm totally lost. I had good pressure before and I can't see a leak anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have much problem with wind noise on mine. What I hear is engine whine through the headset. Sort of like what we used to get back in the old days through the car radio. I can have my headset on and listen to music with no noise, but when the intercom is on I can hear it.

Most all GPS units will give elevation. You may need to go through the display menu and choose the elevation option.

So how do we get this list for the GPS??? I'm thinking I would really like to have it. Thanks.

Ran across this while wandering around ebay. It's a Ventureline and it's pretty cheap right now. I don't want it, I sold the one that came on my bike. Just doing my public service for the week.
