I'll second the idea on tires. I normally like Dunlop E3's, but my current bike came with a new set of Metzler's and I've not had the problem you describe with either bike. I really think you need some new tires, my bike is awesome at super-slab speeds.

Money's on it's way via PayPal. Thanks Gary!

Yeah, but just imagine all the money I'm saving on spare parts and Plastex.
-
Good job buddy!! Now put all those parts together and get ready to ride. We plan on putting a bunch of miles on our new bike and we'll need someone to along to buy dinner!
-
Guess I'd better get one too. Let me know when and where to send the money. PayPal would be great too.

Thanks Randy. We had a great time and can't wait to ride with you again. Oh...and for the rest of you clowns, the wife's name is Glenda (like the good witch). HA! -
Well the 1st Gen found a new home today. I was a little sad to see her go, but Ol' Blue just fits me better. I sold it to my cousin and her husband so she's still in the family. They're stepping up from a cruiser to a touring bike, I think they'll be very happy.

Sorry to hear that buddy. I hope everything works out for you soon. Seems like more and more people I know are facing the same thing.

My bike doesn't have the emblem on the cassette door and I want to use one for other things. I can't find them on ebay, does anybody have one they want to part with. I'll be happy to pay for them, I think I want to get two of them.

Using the logo off that cassette player that is laying around
elmicko replied to Cougar's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Has anybody got one of these logo's laying around? My bike came with a cool paint job, but no logo on the cassette door. I would be happy to pay for it. -
Does Scala make a headset that will plug into the intercom jacks on a Venture? All I saw was bluetooth sets.

Check out Vega helmets. They come with speaker pouches and are easy to wire for a headset. I have 6 of them and really like them.

How do you guys store stuff on an RSV?
elmicko replied to elmicko's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've got a 1st Gen, but the 2nd Gen fits me better. However, I am missing those handy (and ugly) pouches. It's nice to have my sunglasses, etc stored right there close at had. And YES I realize that I have saddlebags and a trunk in the back. But those aren't very handy when you're sitting at a red light, etc.- 22 replies

I know this may sound silly, but I do my bike the same as my truck. As soon as it hits 1/2 tank I start looking to fill up. Yeah, I'm buying gas more often, but I've never run out. It works for me.

I'm loving the new-to-me RSV, but I'm having an issue with storage for my sunglasses, garage door opener ect. I've considered taking the cassette out and turning that space in a storage compartment, but I would also like a set of Ponch's gauges. What are my other options?

Are you happy with only five gears? How bad are the vibes?
elmicko replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
I am by no means an expert, but I just bought my 2nd Gen today and had about a 130 mile ride home on the interstate. This thing has plenty of legroom in the gearbox. You don't even need to think about 5th gear under about 70 mph. Excellent highway bike. -
How much mileage is too much on a used Venture?
elmicko replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
I've done a bunch of shopping for a 2nd Gen over the past few weeks and I wouldn't be concerned at all about the mileage. However, the price on the bike does seem to be a bit high. I've seen bikes in the 2003 range with less than half those miles for the same money. You might want to keep shopping, but hey what's more fun than shopping for a new bike??
