Motorcycle Mike replied to Motorcycle Mike's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks Lilbeaver, but I don't see a link. -
I bought a set of passing lamps used so of coarse no instructions. Where should I get the power from? Do I need relay?

Correct. At least in my experiance. Less input needed=quicker response. Shirley had noticed how I was strugling at low speeds, and that now I dont. I think I have about $7 invested in the mod and about an hour making and installing the links. They may not be for everybody, but if you dont like them your not out much. I love'em. -

I find the lighter/quicker handeling to be a plus. Sure I found myself over steering at first but quickly got acustumed to it. -
Congrats on the new bike. Come join us on VTXOA.com The folks over there are are very knowlegable and helpfull with the VTX. Kinda like this place.

Anyone near Gatlinburg this weekend 6/28?
Motorcycle Mike replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry we missed Y'all. We were on our way but a flipped Hummer with 4 trapped occupants blocked our route on 321 comming out of Wears Vally. Not knowing a route around, we turned around, ate at The Back Porch resturant and headed back across the mtn. The tail of the dragon at night, in the rain, makes for an interesting ride. Hopefully we'll make the next one.- 27 replies

We now have a humming bird infestasion. We started with one feeder this spring and had no activity. Added a second and started seeing birds. Added a third feeder and I have never seen so many humming birds. We have to fill all the feeders every 2 to three days. It's real hard to get an accurate count, but I bet we have 15-20 birds. There a real hoot to watch.

Shirley and I will be staying at the Tuskeegee motel over on 28 Friday & Saturday. We were thinking about going to The Chop House in Sevierville Friday, probably around 5 or 6. Yall could join us there, or we could join yall somewhere. We would love to meet up either way.- 27 replies

Yea, I was aware that I could get the same result by lowereing the front, but I dont want to scrape anything. I get a sharp pain in the ribs everytime I do. Trader, They replace the stock shock links and raise the rear of the bike about 1 inch. You can buy them from Diamond R or make them yourself if you have a few tools. Mainly a drill press. Do a search for leveling links. Lot's of info on them.
-
I made some leveling links per freebirds instructions and installed them Sunday. It's hard to believe such a small change can make such a huge differance, but it does. The one area I have been disapointed in with the RSV is the slow speed handeling. It has been a real chore in some instances. Well no more! The bike is more nimble and acually feels lighter while doing slow speed manuvers. I went from strugling to do a U-turn to being able to ride tight circles and figure 8s in tight quarters with little effort. I'm sure this will mean better handling in the twisties. I'll test the twisties this weekend. If you havent done this mod, DO IT!

Peachtree City/Newnan is a nice area. The commute should not be too bad from there.

Georgia Bulldogs and who ever is playing Florida. If it's not the SEC, it's not really football.

I agree with Randy. It depends on where his job is located. Traffic around here is a nightmare. Studies show the the Atlanta area has the longest commutes time wise in the country. I only live 15 miles from work and getting home sometimes takes an hour. So the closer he lives to work the better.

This is my first RSV, infact it's my first Yamaha since the 70's. Previous Yamaha's were an RD350, XS650 and a YZ400. Wish I still had the 650. There's been quite a few Honda's and a Norton in between. I've loved everyone of them.

You can't call it woodworking if it's not wood. Nice work. I'm an avide woodworker myself. I'll post some pics soon.

Sounds familiar. I went in looking for a new helmet and came out with an 09 RSV. Life is good!
-
I'm 56. I've owned many bikes over the years. Bought the 09 RSV last Sept. Decided to keep my VTX and TRY to keep the miles down on the RSV. 13000+ and climbing.
