  1. Yellow creek is county rd 1242 and runs between 129, Nw of Robbinsville and 28. Wayah rd (pronounced Why yah) has no number that I'm aware of. I have heard, but never verified, that parts of the movie "Thunder Road" with Robert Mitchum were filmed on 28.
  2. I used to see a guy at bike nights around here that had the landing gear on a wing. He was crippled and needed a wheel chair to get around. He would pull in the parking lot, flip the wheels down and park. He'd scoot around untill he could reach his chair on the back, unhook it and slide off the bike into it. I was never around to see how he got back on. If/when the time comes that I can no longer handle the weight of the bike I will strongly consider this option as I'm not a fan of trikes or hacks either. I have to feel the lean of the bike.
  3. I just love riding. Don't really care about the shape of the road. I ride the mtn's of north Ga. NC. Va. WVa and Tn. alot but also love the gentle curves and elevation changes of middle Ga. and Al. Ride what you like and dont worry about anybody else.
  4. Jf you get on the interstate around here you better be running at least 70. You'll get run over otherwise. I've pulled my Aluma over 80 a number of times with no problems. However, I stay off the interstates most of the time prefering the two lane scenic route. I agree with FF too. LOTS of variables to consider. But if the trailer is loaded correctly, tracking right and the tires and bearings are in good shape you shouldn't have any problems at just about any speed.
  5. Now I'm gona have nightmares. Thanks Yama Mama. I don't have a paint ball gun, but I do have an airsoft "ass"alt rifle. It would just about guaranty that pond monster would not return. If I get to come to next years event, I'll make sure to pack it.
  6. Works as advertised on my 09. Great product.
  7. There is caulking around the edge of the diamond plate on the top. Mine devolped a small leak there. A little fresh caulk and I haven't had a leak since. No condisation either. Everything stays dry as a bone.
  8. That sounds just like Shirley. I can't tell you hay many times I've heard that exact line. No riding this weekend tho. Too much family around. Y'all have fun and be safe.
  9. I use this one sponserd by Honda http://tripplanner.honda.com/
  10. I have 80,000 and counting on my 04 VTX1300. Bought new in August of 04. I don't ride it as much since I bought the RSV. Mostly just commute to and from work. 34,000 and counting on my 09 RSV bought new 9/11/09.
  11. But it's true. I would stay away on week days for awhile. They have resurfaced a short section with alot left to do. No construction on weekends. Just the "normal" slow tourist.
  12. Looks like your rout takes you both north and south of the BRP but you never touch it. Ya just gota ride the parkway. Dont travel US 64 between Brevard and Highlands NC on a week day. Way too much SLOOOOW traffic. Weekend traveling west is usually ok. We're up that way alot. Maybe we'll bumb into you. Have a great trip.
  13. Thanks for calling and checking on me Mark. I really appreciate it.
  14. One more for you. http://www.khromewerks.com/
  15. Thanks guys. I'll check them out in the AM.
  16. I need a rear tire in Asheville NC ASAP Any one know a good dealer?
  17. :clap2: I forgot what I was gona say.
  18. Over on the Ride On thread a couple of guys said they got 24-30k out of a set of tires. That is WAAAAY more than I get. I only get 11-12k per set. It got me wondering what kind of mileage your getting and how your set up. My set up is.... 2010 RSV 2 up most of the time. Combined weight 400+lbs I pull a trailer about 1/4 of the time. E-3s with 40f-40r Lots of mtn. roads.
  19. What pressure do you run Joe? Do you ride 2 up? Do you pull a trailer? I get similar mileage (11-12K) on my VTX also. Tire brand makes little differance.
  20. I can't even imagine these numbers. How the heck do you get 22-30K on a set of MC tires? I get 11-12K on a set and it sure dosn't take 5-8 years to do it. If I had a tire on any vehicle that long I'd change it because of it's age. Does "Ride on" extend your mileage that much?
  21. You can compress each piston individualy with your fingers. I was trying to use a c-clamp to compress 2 at a time and getting no where. The search feature is your friend.
  22. I couldn't get my rear brake caliper to compress but a quick search told me what I was doing wrong. Thanks guys.
  23. Armadillo's = possum on the half shell.
  24. If they dont have on one of those funny Yaraab hats or selling boxes of Krispy Kreem doughnuts, they dont get any of my money.
