As long as we are on the subject of bearings. How long should you go before changing them. I have a little of 30k and will be changing the front tire soon. Would it be a good idea to change them while I have the tire off?

I have a Jensen Marine radio and it has worked well for me. I also added a Sirius tunner to it and I love it. Your fairing could be the same as mine, a Wide Open Custom.

This is the second bike that I have used T6 in and I had the original clutch in the first one without any problems and had 54k on it. This bike I had to upgrade the clutch because I tow a trailer and it was slipping. It was because of the weak clutch they use. The plates didn't have any wear on them to speak of.

Got to be an E3. I don't think you could get 10k out of a 404.

I have been thinking about this same idea but I have a RSTD soloed out so it would cover my tail light so I would have to rig up a light. My main purpose was to use it for shopping for extra room. I have a diamond plate box that came with my trailer that I don't use because I put the spare tire and cooler in it's place so this would work well. The thing I was worried about was how much weight the hitch would hold without stressing it. I may try it next year. It would be pretty easy to rig up a light and I have a friend that is a welder and fabricator to build the rack pretty cheap.

Acutally the wratchet strap worked real well and it's free because I already had it. Thanks for the link though.

Thinking about going Darkside but am trying the new Comander II first to see what kind of wear I get out of it. I'm an aggresive rider and tow a trailer some so I wear rear tires out quick. I have a new tire changer and did the Mich tire on it and what I did to get it to seat was put a wratchet strap around it and cranked it down in the center of the tire then started it likt that and then released it and aired it up. I used to work at a Chevy dealership on the weekend a little because my dad ran it and I did tires and they had a tube that you put around the tire and put air in it to get it to seat so that is where I got the idea from. Not sure if this will work but give it a try with the car tire.

I do like the new V Star 1300 Deluxe. I think it will sell and that is a good price for a bagger with all those features. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/672/0/home.aspx

Just did the same thing. I've had the rear on for about a couple of months and just received the front last Friday. Hard to beat the E3 but this tire is a little cheaper and I had Comanders before and liked them but couldn't get them last time.

Air Pump on RSTD
hunter 1500 replied to NEO55's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Got mine on ebay for about $30. Just used it this morning to pump it up to 40# because I leave on a trip to Jersey tomorrow. -
Yup a lot of people would have just taken off.

I work for a company that ships with USPS and UPS. I'll tell right now that USPS loses way more stuff than UPS. We have people that ***** about having to pay $5.99 for one bolt or something small and cheap but what they don't realize is it cost money for the call to the rep for the part then someone has to process the order then the order goes to shipping dept and they have to have someone go get that bolt, put it in a package print up a label and then ship it out. It costs us about $8 just for someone to take that call. We would actually rather have them get something like that locally but they (the customer ) it will cost them that much in gas to go get it. So bottom line is when you are paying that much for shipping that price includes a lot more than just the shipping itself. A lot of you mention that it doesn't cost you that much to ship but you are one individual not a large company. Big Difference.

It was a worn out tire and he was just doing a burnout until it blew. That was the point.

$17 and change at Tractor Supply. Went to Wally World and as usual they were out but had it in qt containers so I bought 4 qts at 6 and change and two days later was in Tractor Supply and saw the sale.

I get 41 to 43 if I run about 60 mph depends on whether I'm in the mountains or valley. Towing the trailer now that I tuned the carbs I get about 35 to 37. Lower number would be on the slab and higher number on secondary roads. Before I was getting less than that. Oh by the way I have a aftermarket fairing on mine.

So I took the cover off and the old/new gasket was perfect. I was able to take it off without hurting it. There were a couple spots that wern't perfectly clean so I got out the razorblade and cleaned them so all I could see was clean metal all the way around and put it back together using a criss cross pattern and torqued them all to 86 inch lbs and there is still some oil leaking from somewhere but I don't think it is there. I wonder if I overfilled the oil last oil change. Would I see oil down near the clutch cover if I over filled it?

Kelly blue book in excenlent shape is only a little over 6300 retail.

I'm saying I have a hard time runing 75 mph on the slab and averaging between 50 to 60 mph hour. You must be going over a 100 mph on the slab to average that.

If you guys are using blinker fluid for your muffler bearings you are using the wrong stuff. You should be using this http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/hunter1500/muffler_bearings.jpg

I was tempted because the girl on the back was really hot looking. Thought about telling them about this place because I think it is a really good forum.

Dude figuring 10 minute stops for gas ect every 200 miles that is averaging 90 mph. Even if you don't stop for gas that is over 70 mph average. Even runing slabs that would be hard to do.

Got the strap from lunch bag caught in the lock once and had a hell of a time getting the button to push down but I got it eventually.

Question for you all. When you change the fluid to recomend changing the bulb at the same time?
-
Saw it in the parts store last week right next to the Radiator fluid for the VW bug.

:cool10:Over in NY I came up behind what I thought was a Harley riding two up and I'm thinking oh no they will probably be riding slow (Seems that is the way most of them ride not bashing them ) so I'm following them through the twisty roads and they are moving right along and then I saw a little bit of the side of the bike. It was a RSTD but had the saddlebag guards on it so thats why I did realize it right away. I followed them for about twenty miles of really twisty road before they turned off at a Dunkin Donuts.
