Sorry to be a PIA but how do you get the weights off.
-
Had to bring my bike for the first service today and it was in the 40's. I froze my butt off by the time I got there, an hour and a half later. brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

A guy I know bought an old trailer to tow behind the bike and put some of that on it and I thought it was the real stuff when I looked at it.
-
I just bought a pair of the Kuryakyn grips. Had them on my other bike and loved them. I just bought a pair for this bike. How do you get the stock grips off on a RSTD 08. My last bike had screws in the end.

Congrats on the new bike. 15k isn't many miles for a 99 BMW. Most those BMW guys ride that in a year.

I heard they were expensve to maintain. I think the valves have to be adjusted quite often.
-
Just be careful when and where you use it because it could work against you if you use it. Cars don't expect to hear that loud of a noise from a bike and could over react. It happened to someone on anouther forum.

Just ordered one from ebay for $22.99 plus $7 shipping.

Went 350 miles on saturday and averaged 42 mpg. Mostly cruzing about 60 mph. I should get better as the bike gets broke in. -

Update, The fairing is on and it was pretty easy. I will have better bracket made but for now it will do because I have to have the fairing painted. I will post some pictures as soon as possible. This fairing is a very good alternative to the $1500 and 2K fairings. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/hunter1500/IMG_0289.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/hunter1500/IMG_0290.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/hunter1500/IMG_0291.jpg -
Started my project

Ok yesterday as I rode about 350 miles I got to thinking the distance from the outside of the parts that hold the windshield is the same as the distance between the existing brackets on the fair and so I set it up there and sure enough they are. All I have to do is take the screws out and bolt the fairing on on the top. The bottom wont fit but I can just make two pieces that fasten to the bottom windshield brackes and then got to fasten to the the bottom holes in the fairing bracket. I will take a picture when it's done. Should be a piece of cake and if it works these fairings are good quality and are only $699 without the radion and 799 with it. Thats a lot cheaper than any of the outher fairings out there. For the rest of this riding season I will just leave it green and then this winter get it painted blue to match the bike. -

Well that didn't work. So I guess it's back to the drawing board. -
They claim the engine makes a lot of noise also. There was a review comparing it to a ultra. I sat on the Nomad and couldn't flatfoot it and I'm 5' 9".

I'm working on modifing my Wide Open Custom fairing so it will work on this bike. I had it on my LC1500 before and the fairings are only $699 and $100 for the radio and speakers. Keep an eye on my project thead here and I will take some pics as I do it. -
I started my project of converting my WOC fairing onto this bike. It was set up for the LC1500 and they don't make brackets for the RSTD at WOC. I'm making my own and picked up a piece of aluminum yesterday and got it bet 90 degrees today and started cuting them out to fit. I will update this as I go along in case anyone else needs to do this in the future.

Wish I was closer. Sounds like fun. Whoops looks like I need to delete one of the maps lol.

You can get the correct paint from Colorite. Just google colorite paint.

We are talking mpg not kpg lol.
-
Well I checked the mileage on the new RSTD for the first time and got 41 mpg but I'm still in the break in period so I think that will improve. What are others getting.
-
Nice looking bike. Very nice combo on the colors.
-
Thanks for all the advice. It sounds like taking the tank off is the best route to go to keep the wire nice and neat.

I just use a Tom Tom 1. Works for me. I just put a baggie over it in the rain. Only use it when I tour anyway. Any other time I just go in a direction. But thats just me. Like the last guy said you will get a dozen different answers and it all depends on how much you want to spend. Me I'm cheap.

I think I have figured out a way to mount my fairing that I kept off the LC and will let you know if it works.
-
Yes, I did all my own wrenching on my LC1500 and got pretty good at it. When I did take it to a dealer I would always end up with new scratches.
