I was just there a couple weeks ago. Road all over the area you are talking about. Would be a great place for a rally where we stayed in Snowshoe. See the pics in the picture forum.

Candy Apple ????
hunter 1500 replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I ordered my paint for my fairing from colorite and it was a perfect match for the blue/purple on the 08. I would recomend ordering from them. The price is higher but the match is well worth it. -
My dealer is a very nice guy. He had two dealerships. One sold Honda and Suzuki. The other sold Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha. The second store opened at the wrong time and they ended up closing it. When you go in and look at bikes they will just let you look and tell you if you need any help they would be glad to help you. They work on a salary and don't get commisions so there is no pressure. The bottom line price is on the bike. They don't dicker but they have the lowest prices around. They always let me test drive their bikes probably because I bought 4 bikes and a 4 wheeler over the years. I'm very happy with them. The Yamaha dealer that I have to deal with now are also very nice and the parts and service departments seem to know what they are doing, but I have had very little experience with them. They did warranty my battery with no hassel. The victory dealer I stopped at was also nice.

I have to agree with you. While waiting for my first service last Sept. I walked about 1/2 mile down to the Harley dealer. They treated my like a king offered me coffee and explained all the models to me. This was after I told the salesperson that I had just bought a new RSTD.

I bought one on Ebay just like it last spring. Got it for $1200+ shipping. Shipping wasn't bad, like $79 I think. Put about 3k on the trailer. Getting the weight distributed correctly is the biggest part.

I have to agree. This is one of the easiest bikes I've ever had to change the oil and filter on. I have a strap wrench I use for the filter. While the oil is draining after I warm it up I check everthing else over.

How NOT to use heavy equipment on a wet field
hunter 1500 replied to friesman's topic in Watering Hole
A few years ago a neighbor's hired man got his 4 wd tractor and spreader stuck. I helped him get it out. First thing was to get rid of the contents of the spreader. Next we took a chainsaw and cut a tree down. We then cut it in to 4 foot sections and chained them to the wheels running the chain through the slots on the rims then around the logs. As soon as the logs rotated to the ground the tractor picked it's self right out of the hole. Not pulling the spreader and being on a little more solid ground he was able to get the tractor out and then hooked on with chains to the spreader and pulled it to solid ground. -
Nice bike. Can't go wrong with a Harley. Plenty of places to get them fixed.

I went with the 150/80 16. Just got back from a trip to WV and found the tire works very well with the comander on the rear. Don't usually like to mix them but it works. Road the twisties down there hard too. They gave me the same price as the Michelin because he couldn't get it and I had to miss a day off of riding. -
I had a 21.5 foot Bayliner and was going fishing all by myself and back the boat in and had to part about 200 yards away. Got back to the boat and realized I had forgot the plug. I have done this with other boats but at least the plugs were inside the boat not a big deal. This one was outside on the transom at the bottom. Lucky for me it was in the summer and the water was warm so I took my pants off and went swimming. Took about an hour for the pump to pump all the water out. lol Not me this time but the same launch. I was waiting to pull the boat out with a couple of freinds on a weekend and the launch was busy and we just were waiting our turn and this guy came and cut in line to put his boat in. Loaded the wife and two young kids in the boat and unhooked the boat from the trailer. He then starts backing down the ramp and stopped quick about halfway. Well you can imagine the rest. The boat went flying off the trailer and landed on the ramp with the bow still on the trailer and it pointing at about a 45 degree angle in to the air. The wife and kids were screaming, meanwhile we were laughing so hard I thought I would split a gut. No one got hurt.

They are coming out with a Comander II and depleted their stock in the Comander's is what I was told. Had to put a Dunlop E3 on the front. -
UPDATE: Thanks to you guys Troy Savoie is coming through!

Took quite a while to get my leather tank bib, but I was happy with it once I got it last fall. -
Tires will always wear on the left side more because of the crown in the road and the fact that a left turn is longer than a right turn. That being said I only got 5k out of the rear Brickstone and 75k out of the front. Riding one up and 40 lbs in the rear and 36 in the front. I ride aggressively on roads with a lot of corners though. Makes a difference where and how you ride. Just my 02 cents. PS I now have 5k on the Mic Comander and it is hardly showing wear after riding in WV for 5 days and towing a trailer all the way there and back.

I work with warranty claims eveyday and IMO this should be covered under warranty. Workmanship defect.

I would suggest changing the wooden flagpoles with conduit or some other metal pole. I had one break on a ride. I have since made conduit poles. I was lucky it went off to the side of the road. I also have stainless steel holders with pins through them. Take no chances.

Just rented a house in Snowshoe WV for 5 days with a group of people from all over the North East. We get together every year for a trip. There was 14 of us and the weather was great as was the whole trip. http://s280.photobucket.com/albums/kk180/neiar/NEIAR%20VI%20WV%202010/?albumview=slideshow

Never heard of them but they look like they might work. On the home page it looks like they show one on a RSTD. -

You might want to check out this fairing. I have one and really like it and the price is right. Here's a link to the thread http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41001&highlight=started+project -
I only use the T6 and went to one WM and they were out so I went to anouther and bought 2 and just used the second one this month. I change it every 2500 miles and when it comes out it usually is still in good shape. Cheap preventive maintenance if you ask me. I also get the emgo filter at a MC shop just down the road for 8.95 and change that every time also. Might have to check into the drum of it. Might be the way to go. You know what they say, clean oil is the best oil.
-
Yes that was me that posted about them. They told the owner of the shop they were coming out with a Commander II and no one had any left so he gave me a Elite 3 for the same price. The commander I have on the rear is wearing fine. 5 k and maybe half worn. The Elete 3 works very well with it. I don't usually like to mix brands but they seem to work together well and I put it to the test in WV.
