I rode 4 bikes at Americade last year that I would be interested in. The Stratoliner delux, Kaw Vaquero, Harley Streetguide and the Victory xc. I didn't really like the Strat or Harley so it would be down to the Kaw or Victory. They both had plenty of power and the ergos were good on both bikes. The only thing I didn't like about the Vaquero was the brakes and the short windshield which could be changed. The brakes sqealed and because they were ABS I wasn't used to them. The back I had to really stomp on it and the front was real touchy. The Crosscountry I rode had the tour pack and the high windshield and I would probably buy this bike as my next bike but without the tour pack. I tow a trailer so I don't need it.

I have two camera's, one is a Cannon Power Shot that I carry in the bike all the time then I have a Nikon D3000 that I take on trips. To be truthful I don't see a lot of difference between the two pictures but I can add the lenses to get long shots with the Nikon.

As far as the wobble he says it is probably the stem bearings and they will probably replace the roller bearings with a tapered bearing. That was the fix they had to do on some of the Suzuki bikes that had the same problem. Just thought I would let everyone know where things are with my bike. I had a Suzuki with that problem. It started at about 18k and I replaced the stem bearings at 22k and never had a problem with it again. Manufactures use cheap bearings in them and I replaced them with good ones. By the way I tried all the other fixes ie new progressive shocks and even bought a stabilizer for the front end and none of that worked. People said it was the brand of tire and that was bull. Sorry I can't help you with the leak.

I have a Wide Open Custom on mine. Mine wasn't made for the RSTD but was easy to convert. You can buy them with or w/o the radio. http://wideopencustom.com/

Tour Deluxe tank bib
hunter 1500 replied to hunter 1500's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thanks for the responses. I ended up going to someone (Champlain Leather) and he told me he could make one just like it for $125 or put a patch on it. I opted for the patch for $25. He will put a blue star on it to match the blue bike. -
WooHoo, I got one.

Welcome to the forum. Might consider a tank bra for your bike. I wore a hole through mine so I can just imagine what that would have done to the paint on the tank. -
Is there a safe way to get through Chicago on a bike?
hunter 1500 replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
I'll never ride a bike through Toronto on 401 again. I rode through on a Saturday afternoon and will never do that again. That is one busy road and the people up there drive like maniacs. -
Tour Deluxe tank bib

What kind of money are we talking about for the bib pictured? -
I've worn a hole through mine and wondered if anyone is still making these. I think the guy in FL that I got mine from is no longer making them. If no one has any ideas then I will probably bring my old one to a leather place and have them fix it or use it as a template to make a new one. If I had one made would there be any intrest in this.

Yup, been using that same list for a few years now. I printed mine off.

I couldn't believe the difference in the Flanders bars. I also have a Mustang seat and really like it. Had one on the last bike.

+1 VA pays for everything and I feel much better now and can't sleep at all without it. I have the full mask and the ones they used to give me would break all the time. The new ones I just wear them out. Also upgraded me to a machine that adjusts the pressure automaticly during the night.

When I was in High School I worked at a Vermont state park for four summers 68-72 and my bosses were retired persons and they provided a house for them to live in.

Rear End Groan
hunter 1500 replied to sadicarnot's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I had the same problem because I didn't loosen the acorn nuts on the drive when I put the wheel back on. Went on here and found the instructions and it was fine after that. -
After burning through two sets of rain paints I finally went and got some Tourmaster rain gear and have never looked back.

I bought my 08 RSTD in 9/09 and the next spring even with a battery tender on it was shot. Dealer replaced it for free under warranty. Replaced it with a interstate which was shot after one year. I finally bought an Odysey battery last year. I hope this one last longer as it was expensive. I had one in my previous bike and it worked well.

I stayed on that lake for a couple days last summer. Nice area but there are a lot better roads. Anywhere in the Addirondaks. Vermont RT 100. A lot of the roads in Vt got hit hard by the flooding from Irene.

2008 RSTD Paint - Trunk
hunter 1500 replied to farm1810's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I recomend Colorite paint. Their factory paint is a perfect match. http://www.colorrite.com/ They have aerosol cans also. -
There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the engine like they said that a 3/8 drive extention fits into. It may be covered up by the deck of the mower. I'm a tech superviser for DR Power and our trimmer mowers have the same thing. We suggest they just tip the mower over and drain it throught the dipstick/filltube. Our trimmer engines hold about 20 oz of oil. All the B&S engines are made in china these days except for some of the larger engines.

Same type of thing happened to me. I ordered the tire through the shop (a Michelin Comander) and when the shop owner checked after it was mounted to make sure the tire was mounted in the right direction he found out that it was actually a front tire. He didn't have a decent replacement tire for it so he had to order one overnite and couldn't get a Comander so he ended up getting me a E3 for the same price. Since then I have been sold on the E3.

Not sure if this picture would help. I think I will try to get it done locally. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/hunter1500/IMG_0292.jpg

Is anyone making these now. I got the original one from the guy in FL and there is a hole worn through it. If someone wants to attempt it I could send the old one to them.

Lots of times I post from work and we have no spell check but I don't understand why people get so bent about misspelling. It's not that big a deal.
