Anyone have a CB antenna to sell
distancerider replied to distancerider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks -
Riding through some unfamiliar territory in Tennessee one night, lost trying to find the motel; I came around a curve to find three deer standing in the middle of a two lane. To make matters worse the road banked about like turn three at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I was on my Goldwing and got it stopped about a a foot from three by then frozen deer. With the bank in the rode and having panic stopped I ended up just easing the Wing down on its side - a first. The deer took off like a rocket and I started catching my breath when I realized I was in the middle of a blind turn from both directions. I panicked and just tried to grab the bike and lift it but even at my size 6'5" and 310 lbs it did not budge plus I was lifting against the banking of the road. I remembered watching a video on how to lift and you are on the money, getting down low enough was the toughest part. Anyway, I got it up on about the third try and no car ever came but the incident sticks in my mind anytime someone mentions a lift.

Good thought I'll try to give a local one a call. I haven't put alot of thought into this. Broke it last night and just thought "great" just in time for my trip. And then slammed at work this week. Thanks again -

Replacement Antenna
distancerider replied to distancerider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They were switched... thanks for the info now it makes sense. -
In a brilliant move while uncovering the Venture I snagged the cover and broke the antenna, the one with the black plastic piece in the middle. I broke it off at the top of the black piece. I thought this was the CB antenna. I took it off and went ridding and found that my FM radio reception was very poor. So was this the Radio antenna? I have looked back over a couple of post but still am confussed, I would like to replace both antennas with one is there a post that explains how to do this and is this a complicated process? What is the best antenna to use? Thanks for any help!

I just put about 2500 miles on a new Metzler 880 Rear and am very pleased. I ran Metzlers on my Goldwing and liked em. -
I got a chance to take a couple of days off and make a four day weekend trip with my Wife's blessing. A couple of buddies and I rode from Atlanta to Cleveland to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. We took I 75 and I 71 up but on the way back rode I 77 through Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia; what a beautiful ride. Those of you who live in that part of the country sure have some fantastic scenery. I also stopped at an 1890 farm house museum and took a couple of pictures of the Venture. I don't comment much on the site but I do read almost daily and just wanted to say when traveling it is nice to know there is such a support group available if you have trouble. Anyway just wanted to share a little of my ride with you. I'll attempt to upload some pictures. This is my first Venture, a 2006. I've owned it about a year and have put about 8K miles so far. I have a Golwing and have really enjoyed it but I have to say the Ventue is a Hoss and a true pleasure to ride.

I've got an 88 1500, great bike. I have my 2006 venure but I haven't brought myself to get rid of the wing. I have ridden it to Canada once and Key West 7 times and would ride it anywhere tomorow wihtout a second thought. I've done all the work on it myself and added a few things. He should love it, if I can ever answer anything let me know.

I just bought a Tourmaster Select Cover for my 06 RSV for a week long business trip along the coast. One of the best purchases I have made for a bike; really pleased with it. I got it at Motorcycle Superstore for $44.99 with free shipping. It is a great cover. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/117/20948/ITEM/Tour-Master-Select-Motorcycle-Cover.aspx

Had a rear tire blow out on my Goldwing headed to Charleston from Atlanta. I was on the interstate running 85 mph with cruise control when the rear tire went. Jimminy Cricket !!!The harder I braked the wilder the ride. I had to let it bleed of speed on it's own. Fortunatly there were no vehicles around me. I was able to keep it upright but it was a challenge. Wouldn't want to do it again, but it can be managed.
