    Skydok??

I took a ride up to Earl's (sky_doc) place today. He's doing fine...no problem with him or Jean. He's been busy working his job and also working on and getting moved into the new house. He told me that his computer crashed. He went out and got another computer and it crashed too so that is why he hasn't been on VR. He asked me to apologize to anyone who's been trying to get in touch with him over the past 6 weeks....he's just had sooo much going on lately and just not enough time to get it all done...but he IS getting there! His new place is very nice. He now has a nice shop (HIS BIG TOY BOX) next to the house to play in. Anyway, he's fine and will be back soon.

    Skydok??

Has anyone heard from Skydoc? Hope he's ok. I know he was in the process of moving to his new home and shop. Just curious if anyone has talked to him lately.
  4. I've been trying to reach him too but with no luck. I know he was getting ready to move soon. I saw his new place a few weeks ago when I was up there for a carb sync..It's very nice. I hope he's ok.
  5. Hi Greg I can go about 170 miles @ 65 to 70 MPH before the low fuel trip meter comes on . When I fill up it will usually take around 4 Gal. I aveage around 43-45 MPG. I've got as much as 47 MPG on flat roads down south. If you don't do 80 or 85 you can get 190 miles without running out of gas. That would include a little of the reserve fuel. When the fuel meter starts counting miles I go about 20 miles then stop for gas. This really all depends on the hills and the speed.
  6. Do you want to sell them?
  7. Do you want to sell them??
  8. My brother in law decided to keep them. He wasn't sure if he would like them or not but ended up likeing them...a little too loud for me. They DO sound good but I think after 300 or 400 miles they would get on my nerves. I do think ear plugs would solve the noise problem on a long trip.
  9. I took the lowers off to check the cruise control and do the cable adjustment on it. I also had the tank and seat off to clean the air intake box and tighten the clamps. I took it for a test ride it without the lowers. I just wanted to be sure it (cruise) was working ok...and after most of the day of I got on VR and the problem was solved. I love this place!!
  10. "Thought I had screwed something up." Me too! It's hard to believe that the lowers would make that much difference. I think I would have put money on it that it woudn't work...I would have lost the bet but it would have been worth it! I learn something new on this site every day I log on.
  11. Well after all day of p$&&ing around I got on VR and found out that you can not ride without the lowers installed...it REALLY runs bad without them!! I had my doubts about what I read in the post but I was getting desperate. I put the lowers back on and went for a ride. It ran perfect. I was so happy that it was running good again that the test ride lasted 105 miles. VR saves the day AGAIN!...It's all good now.
  12. Is this true on a RSTD? They will run poor with the lowers removed...affects air intake flow....and they will bog at speed. I took the lowers off to check the cruise control and did a cable adjustment. I took it for a ride to test it without the lowers and it runs like crap! It Bogs down. It will idle fine and run gread at full throttle but bogs in mid range. Could running without lowers cause this? Mark
  13. So what you're saying is that the pump will not keep running even though it is not able to build any pressure because the fuel is just going back into the container? If thay's the case, I guess I had better start looking somewhere else. Thanks, Mark
  14. Bike feels like it's running out of gas at mid to high RPM. I took the fuel pump off and tested it to see if it was pumping fuel. I put the intake hose in a container of fuel and the outlet side above the same container and turned the key on. The pump will run and pump gas but will only run for approx. 5 seconds and then stop. If I turn the key off and turn it back on...the pump will again run and pump gas for 5 seconds and stop again. I this normal?? Mark
