I have too seen that. If I could grab my ankle while in the air I probably wouldn't have a mounting problem .LOL I do the step thru most of the time but getting off is somewhat of a bad yoga pose. Its like crouching grasshopper laughing Hieyena

So changing the front tire pressure to 40 or 41 should help? I know it felt better from 27 to 36. But I insiste inflated it according to manufacturer specifications. I will go up in pressure and see if that helps.

By loose I meant that the backrest falls and raises with ease. The boot and lock nut are on very snug. I actually had to hammer the bolt/pin in and out. No fear of it falling off

This is the first bike I ve had with a back rest and I absolutely love how it feels riding down the road but absolutely hate trying to get off the bike with it protruding upwards. I have found that If I mount is loose I can lift my but off the seat, the backrest collapses and allows me to dismount. On the other hand when mounting I throw the leg over and stand forward while lifting the backrest before sitting down. Sounds like a lot. How are others dealing with this?

Hey Guys. I have just came back to the royal star world. in the driveway right now is a kawasaki concours. A sport touring light bike. Just getting back on to riding the royal star venture and the steering felt very heavy:pushups: At first I was low on air pressure so I pumped it up to 36 but it still feels heavy. At slow speeds turning the hweel for a parking lot turn it feels like it wants to turn in. very similar to a flat tire. The tire has about 2 seasons on it and it doesnt show bad wear. I know steering head bearings usually go loose and have a lighter feel. Any idea what I could be facing here? Is it just something new to me at this point and just take some getting used to. My last royal star was 4 years ago and in between I had a gl1500 goldwing and my current Kawasaki Concours.

Kic. Unburned fuel or even flamable gasses escape the combustion chamber on the exhaust stroke. Allowing cool oxygen to the hot pipe will cause the carbonmonoxide and flammable gas to BREATH causing an Afterburn explosion. It is not a backfire. The two are different

The clean and recharge kit fir the K&N is about$12 at your local auto parts. It's a lifetime filter do as long as there is no damage to them they will work. So I wouldn't be against buying used

I will be looking at the controller. All fuses are fine but no audio or dc power from the socket. I . Think manual says one fuse in the fairing and the connections there are usually the culprits. Glad you got yours squared away. Did you apply the grease to the seals as well. There should be no petroleum because it doesn't affect plug boots, so it should be fine.

When I took things apart lots of stuff wasn't snug. I took the time to put a thin film of rtv on every connection except carb to intake. Rechecked the floats, cleaned and used dielectric on plug boots ,Ais ,is plugged, andasjusted valves toloose side of the allowance. The K&Ns were also black. I don't think the P.O ever serviced them. As I said before, he wasn't much for preventive maintenance. I used the clean and recharge kit, it is red or pink in color and breathes better. Will ride her soon to see if any more kinks develop. Small problem is that I destroyed a coolant hose and need to replace before any rides. She's is just put together temporarily.

So again, this bike is new to me. 99 venture. It had an annoying afterburn pop in the mufflers. Like an old harley. After the valve adjustment , some basic, carb clean( lazyman) and k&n filter clean and recharge. No more afterburn. Don't know which did it, but it's done.

I remember adjusting these valves once before at 32k. Now ar just under 60k many were within spec but a few were tight. There were 268,5,2s abd 260s in there so I moved many of them around. Even within spec I decided to replace to the loose side of the allowance, to ensure proper clearance until 87 k miles. Job went very quick this being my third time on this kind of bike.but only second on this bike. I think I used a 268 and a 260 Ill have to recheck with the shim inventory I wrote up -

How tight, or how many valves were tight. Just did mine. I guess you had randys kit which I have now. Just need to button her up. Only 2intakes were tighter than allowed -
I just did my valves. The technical data is awesome when you have any size shim you need. You measure go on the chart refer to what size and change if needed. I went the simple way. Intake valves tolerances are. .11 - .15mm. Exhaust are .16 - .20mm I didn't have feeler gauges that entire spectrum I had .10 .127.15 .178 and.20 I measured intakes. A few .10 wouldn't fit so I went down 2 sizes 270 to 260 if .10 fit but .127 didn't I would go down 1 size shim. I got them all within spec on the loose side. This takes more guess work but I only had to go back abd change 2 shims twice for being too loose. I know there is a write up and ive done this 3 times now so if you need further assistance pm me. You don't want it so loose that the larger guage feels no drag but you don't want the smallest guage to be too tight. I ACTUALLY ONLY HAD TO USE 2 OR 3KIT SHIMS. Most of them were just moved around. You will need some coolant, I did not empty my radiator but I spilled maybe 6oz of coolant. Good time to check your intake runners for cracks. There is a coolant tube on cyl 4 that is in the way and won't let the valve cover come off. You will need to remove it. In my case it broke while pulling on it. Undo the clamp abd see if they will move before starting the job.

Darthandy.I agree thay calling young employees, trying to get by, stupid may be harsh and insensitive.Even the lack of energy at work csn be overlooked. What gets me is having to repeat my self more than once due to inattention to work and over attention to less important matters like what yhier coworker did on a date or how someone is gonna get beat up. Pay attebtion to the patrons or I will complain to the mgrs. Ex. I was at a supeemarket getting checked out tge cashier was speaking with her friend about her dare.I didnt find it appropriate even if my kids were not there.Professional conduct is a must

Ok here goes.Im on the other side of the fence.I go to the Chipotle.mexican grill and'n order 2 bundle of joy burritos. These things are 5lbs each and can feed a family of 6 in Kenya. When you get to the last items on thier line you can ask for Guacamole and Sour Cream.Which I always do.When you ask them for this green gold, they inform you that it will be extra and if I still want it,all the while they have the scoop floating over your burrito. Yes yes yes I know it will be extra!!.Im a fat ass ordering way more food than I need, must you announce it to the whole establishment?
