  1. You are so correct. Relying on any one mechanical device is sure to lead to failure. Use common sense and skill before relying on them to avoid hitting you. As far as air horns are concerned. What did you go with, compressor unit, tank, where did you mint all that stuff?
  2. I didn't realize you measure tip to tip. I measured mine bolt hole to hole at 7 inches. I guess mine are stock,. I was able to lighten the steering up a bit by increasing front tire pressure to 41psi. 30 miles yesterday and shes feeling a whole lot better.
  3. I heard of them failing because of bad relays so When my buddy ( P.O) asked me to install this one I went ahead and opted for the better water resistant relay. This was installed 4 years ago and it s still ticking. And the bike is by no means a garage queen, so the horns quality speaks for itself. from 119db to 139db You really are splitting hairs. I remember reading somewhere that at a certain point noise becomes a worse distraction. They actually started limiting the noise on emergency vehicles. Some noises and pitches travel longer distances. Some just become deafening. This horn scared my daughter and another motorist. I don't know if the prices are the same but the badboy is supposedly the cheaper brand , and it has stood the test so far. Im pleased and will definitely be buying another one should this fail.
  4. I have never been a fan of these horns. I always found alternatives but my new to me bike came with one and I absolutely love them. If anyone is on the fence about getting a new horn, Please don't hesitate. It is louder and annoying. Only problem now is I like it so much I fuind myself using it more often. I am actually thinking of adding a second one somewhere in the fairing. I was riding along and a cager started drifting from my right. A little honk honk had him swerve to the right . The next time wasn't a safety issue. Left lane 2 cars turning. Minivan had 2 chances to go . HONK HONK . MOVE!!! please..... The guy in front had to check his rearview
  5. Heres another. Since I had a good response on the last one. Warning The music may be annoying to some . This is my type of music Check it out. My favorite 5 mile road in NEW JERSEY. When I just have to get a few twisties, this were I go to meditate. 6. Well as you said. You get there too quick. The reason I backed off is because a few hundred feet ahead was an intersection and I didn't need any attention. I had a sport bike itch I just needed to scratch. Glad I did but I have been fortunate to keep my licence. Onward to calming things down a bit. Im sure after a while I wont even miss the connie, It is just a big difference riding the connie last week and the venture this week.
  7. Yeah I do remember these bikes have power all the way till the rev limiter. It is very touquey. Not underpowered ,just noting the differences.
  8. If you are talking about the plugs that cover the nipples that are used for carb synch. I remember reading a while ago that just linking them together. Just a small piece of vacuum hose form one carb to the other would increase power. Well I don't know about increasing power but It had no adverse effects. Did it to my 96 and my buddys 99 which I now own. He rode it like that for 20k miles . Never had a problem.
  9. Thanks guys. I don't have a a garage so I wont be able to pull the parts till Saturday again. I wanted to pull the parts and do some more diagnosing yesterday but my birthday girl asked to go for a ride. She really twisted my arm and then I had spring dog poop cleanup. ( FUN FUN FUN) Temp dropped down again to 40 and blustery winds today.
  10. My last royal star was in my possession 4 years ago. Before that I had older goldwings , a Honda shadow 750, This royal star was the fastest meanest bike I ever owned. Since that I moved on to a 1500 Goldwing and life was going well but I always wanted to see how a sport touring bike would feel. This is when I bought the Kawasaki concours. I came to realize that I was going to lose my life or my licence. The bike just begs to go fast. Normal cruising on the highway is 110 120 sometimes. If you didn't want to sit in traffic you didn't have to . Just twist the throttle and go. So I just registered my 2nd gen yesterday and took my daughter on a 30 mile ice cream run for her birthday. Very relaxed just scooting through town. There was this one instance where my inner road warrior came out and I tried to pass someone. This bike did it , just slower than the lighter overpowered bike I had became used to. This was a little let down to my ego but as I said before trading sportiness for comfort and a smile on my baby girls face was worth it. This is a video of the Kawasaki, just messing around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwHGyrThKkQ&list=UU39m0XNi2_r4t_T6UlUBQsA The big problem is this was a solo riding bike only. No one wanted to jump on with me after the first wheelie. Also to mention that being a big guy , This bilke was very fun for less than 100 miles after that. The excrutiating pain in my knee made the rise torture.
  11. Will do. Ill check the cb.
  12. I still think mute should show on display
  13. Where would the cb box be
  14. I'm s sorry. My reading was 1 on the multi meter. Which should be the same reading. Ill check once again
  15. All connections were free of corrosion but I sprayed cleaner anyway. Ground is infinite from ground bolt on radio to anywhere on the frame. With all connection secure I checked the remote wire connection. One pin had low voltage coming through which should be all that's needed to power the remote. This also tells me that power is reaching the radio.. Still dead no power to controller, no noise in speakers.
  16. Since I can't find a more complete way to diagnose the radio and really don't want to spend money without knowing the problem I was hoping someone was willing to try parts out for me. I will take care of all shipping charges and even throw in some beer money. I will ship controller and radio all you need to do it connect them respectively and see if they play in your system. Who's willing to help me out. Maybe someone who has to go in there anyway for preventive care. Thanks for any replies. Jose rahway nj 99 rsv
  17. Had anyone replaced the radio with an aftermarket type abd amplifier?
  18. If you sissy an oil in the air box most of the dirt will be concentrated at the end where opening is. This doesn't mean it's not breathing, it's just consecrated at one area. Opening up the air box allows water saturation during heavy rains.
  19. Completely dead. P,O said he was riding along one day and it just quit. No display, no sound, no cb
  20. I have the wiring schematics from the book but it doesn't say what the pin layout is. I'd like to jump some wires to see if the radio will pay without the controller. I would hate to buy parts and have it not be the problem.
  21. So I have checked fuses, power on the mcu 18 pin connector as per service maual. I am even getting a small amount of power on the connector to the controller. What can be the problem 99 venture radio wont turn on, No cb either. The biggest thing about this bike was finnaly getting a radio again and now no radio. Are there any mods to add a radio if this one is no good?
  22. Only problem I see is averting someone when a false accident were to happen like dripping the phone in the car. Ill give it a shot
  23. I always wondered why they haven't made a roadstar touring with trunk bags and fairing. There is a huge market for it
