My wife looked at this picture and said. "You see , you can take a picture with a model and be respectful!" I was in the hot seat for a while for posing with a few models and "hands were too close" is the explanation I got. I will print this picture out and use it for reference when posing with models.

Firing on two of four!
muaymendez1 replied to rjsteiner01's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The problem sounds similar to mine this past 2 weeks. the bike was new to me but I thought it felt like a hog. Power but nothing blazing fast. I just hated the 29mpg I was getting. I decided to go and change the plugs but was stopped in my tracks when I saw right front cyl plug wire wasn't even connected. I haven't take her out on the road dyet but I will tell you that I pissed my neighbors off riding like a lunatic up and down the street. ay more power. Just wondering if may the wire is cracked as you said some plugs were fouled. Maybe the wires crossed or maybe the wrong plug . -
Looking for more comfort for my wife/passenger. She liked my Goldwing because it had a wrap around armrest gadget which I cant find for the 99 venture. Do they make a longer back pad arm rest or some add on ones that would clamo to the handle rails.?

Beaded and Sheepskin
muaymendez1 replied to bwk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I recall seeing a forum topic somewhere. maybe the wing guys, about making a custom beaded seat cover from a large automotive beaded seat cover. I have not seen any motorcycle specific bead seat covers in quite sometime. As a matter of fact I think the only ones who still have those are NY taxi Cabs. -
73 percent of 1st gens are still on the road today. The others made it home

. These bikes as well as goldwings are awesome. Many times when someone is bike shopping, they are quick to pass up one with high mileage. But they will buy an older one with less miles.

Firing on two of four!

I hate to comment with something simple, but mine ran like this when I crossed ignition wires. 1 plug to 3 cyl. My mistake. Again. You went in great detail so I doubt this could be your problem. Also, was this a new occurrence. Did the bike run well before, when did the problem start? -
Hahahah the seniors around here are pretty funny. Too bad I have a great running bike and the pokes don't hurt too much.
-
I was going to look at a first gen a few months ago but the address provided was a senior home. I wonder if that is a regular occurrence

That's cause we yankees don't care. Besides or fuel makes our bikes go faster. Stick that in your tail pipes! Lol

Haha who let him over the fence!?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGkoFKe8Y5w I was trying to upload video showing where the synch screws are but it didn't show up well. Thee is one screw phillps head on the right side then one on the left but you can only reach it from the right The one on the right changes the relation between right front and rear and left screw balances left front and rear. On the left side is a flat head screw that balances left side bank to right side bank. Ill try to take some HD pictures at night and maybe the flash will show the screws better

Sarna. Ther eis not much to it but you do need a set of gauges or mercury manotmet and a long philiips and small flathead to complete this. There are other methods that work also but simpler and easier with the right tools. If you don't have a manometer of some kind I suggest finding someone here that doesn't live to far and buying them breakfast for a synch.

I went crazy with m,y last bike. I sit her up in the driveway with her cover on for winter but I would uncover her every so often and run the enige to keep it fresh. 1 day I was searching every where for the key . I turned the house upside down and tehn had to clean it after I founfd the key in the ignition of the bike form the last time I fired her up. having one key makesme nervous. I always like keeping a spare in my wallet for emergency.

Awesome. I have the exact replica of your bike And I hate that the badges are off. I would also like people to know its not what they think it is.

plus 1 with the carb synch. Mine just cleared up and has snappy response after the synch

I already posted this as a response to one of my posts but thought id share with everyone. 2 weeks ago I completed maintenance on a new to me bike. a 99 venture my buddy parked and let sit before he passed and left to me. Valves, simple carb clean, etc. I put everything together and kept to myself how the enture didn't compare at all to my previous Kawasaki concours, but that My buddys wishes may have nmeant for me to ride a bit more conservative. I dealt with everything but hated the fuel milage at 29mpg. I decided to tear into the bike and replace the plugs and do a more thorough cleaning of the carbs including setting floats. Well I didn't get further than removing the dogbone motor mounts when I found plug on the right front cyl , just laying next to the plug. Having a mechanics thumb and working on bikes for 10 years I didn't want to admit that I did such a foolish eginner mistake:confused24: I decided to go ahead and pull the plugs anyway only to find that the iridium plugs look new. I stopped there and put everything back together and resynched the carbs. Someone just spanked this BI*** because she wants to fly now. WHOAAAA what power. I smiled at the sky because I know my buddy is shaking his head with a smirk. I bet hes calling me an idiot, But I am estatic at how she rides now. Wife is scared to go out for a ride tomorrow. LOL

Oh boy. I bought plugs and had to swap out a coolant hose anyway, but I decided to keep the plugs in. They are burning great, that it's except for the wet plug in cyl 3. So I put it all back together resynched and I can only explain the experience of the ride with a small metaphor my dad used to throw around. A raped ape! Holy cow. When you don't have a reference point to contrast against ,running a on 3cyl seemed fine. Now firing on all cyl, figuratively and literally, this baby is alive. I expect to see a jump from 29mpg to at least 35mpg. Time will tell

Ok guys I am laughing my ass off right now. I have to admit I am a DUm ahhh. I guess one could get bad gas mileage if one plug boot was no on. I mean completely off.. not on the plug. Just sitting beside it. Im gonna hang my head against a wall
