connected the hose as it looks in manual pictures. Here is my findings after re instralling the carb. front right carbs had little to no idle surge when turning the Pilot mixture screw. Plug is fine, FLoat level to 8mm. Carbs just cleaned , valves just done. If I remove the vacuum caps on any cyl the idle drops and sounds like it will shut the engine off, All except front right cyl. I pull the cap and no change in idle. There is vacuum pressure there. STill a pop on decal although not as pronounced and not as many. I also plugged the rear AIS as the front AIS has been removed.

So I cracked and pulled the carbs. Didn't see anything way off except right front carb float was high by a small amount. 7.5 mm. I moved it to 8. All pilots set to 2.5 from seated. I'm gonna put them back in and see. I'm also gonna plug the ais abd run some marvel. In the tank. The carbs are really clean, no need for seafoam.

So I noticed a small vacuum line plugged with a screw. I thought it was the ais system. Looking through a couple of pics I see a hose is supposed to be attached to the right rear intake vavuum port. What does this control. What does this con nect to abd Wyatt uses the vacuum. Should I hook it back up

I rather be in heavy rain than light drizzle. At 40mph or so the water gets brushed away by high winds. The drizzle just sits there. I try to stay far behind cars, as to not get their wheel spray but the worst is trucks padding their opposite direction. Now you have water and road debris on your windshield and visor. My first reaction was to wipe it off. A few times of that and your windshield is scarred for life. Lesson learned

That's awesome if you have a good key. Not so much if your key is damaged

I just replaced them but ill check

I tried fitting my wife in the saddle bag. Bad move!

I'm up to 4 turns. Ill try another half. How soon before they fall out? Still popping

Reviving an old thread, chasing a problem. Last night I noticed the pilot mixture screws were out just about 1 1/2 turns. Reading another thread I tried turning them out 4turns. Better but still getting a few pops on decel. Valves done, carbs synched, 42mpg . Bike is running great except for that may explosion on decel. There was no pop before all the work done. Last night riding home I had another motorcyclist cone around and say my bike smells like raw fuel. A bad exhaust smell. What's going on
-
so the popping cameback with avengeance. Someone riding behind me said they smell raw fuel. I am getting 42 mpg and the bike runs fine. So I decided to mess with the poilot mixture screws. the left side was 1/2 turn from being seated. I know cause I turned 1/2 turn and they were seated. The right side I turned 2 full turns before noticing a drop in rpm Like it was gonna vut off. Where is a good place to start on these screws. I thought leaner was better. too rich causes popping?

I should add that this is my first long ride on this bike. My last bike was a Kawasaki concord which was fun but made my knee ache after hour 2 Before that was a goldwing which was an awesome bike . I think I did some long days on that but never a solo ride. Always with a leader with a destination point

Ok so ill do this as to not hijack the thread. First 30 miles was highway at 65 to 75. I stopped because I didn't realize how cold it was, fueled up threw on the liner and chaps. I got into some very hairy twisties into mile 70 or 80. Mountainous blind curves, abd I guess I'm just not used to this bike yet so I may have become fatigued. Mike 120 was a stop at a mcdonalds where I made a poor choice not drinking any fluids but consuming fries. Mile 160 I was fatigued and looking fir a rest area. I started singing to myself cause my radio isn't working. Met up with a group who I followed down some pretty good curves. Mile 210 I was getting skin aches on my butt. I could feel cool when I lifted so I knew there was moisture . I fueled up and began heading home. I took a few winding detours because I guess I still wanted to ride but thoughts of my dog home alone and a nice sandwich and drink along with a shower, filed my head. So writing this and thinking it through , maybe only 2 reasons for discomfort where mechanical. The others were poor choices made by me. Not keeping hydrated and eating a small amount of food with a high dose of sodium. Not having a sitter for the dog and no one being home worried me and took my focus off the ride.

I'm 34 . 4 kids. Oldest is driving and youngest is able to microwave food. My wife abd I are just beginning our motorcycle adventures. I have logged in 8 years experience on 7 bikes. Yesterday was my first long solo ride. 280 miles. I don't know if I can do 400 plus mile days. Just about 8hrs and I was glad I arrived home. I plan to take the wife on that ride, let's see if she can handle it

I did this 4 years ago on another bike but can't remember the location. I drilled out the caps on the last bike so I know they weren't touched

Very cool of you to offer Mike. I will look on the helmet lock. I will pm you soon. Thanks for addressing my concerns Jose

Update. I'm getting 42 mpg but now I have a bad afterburn, back fire on decel. Oh well, I'm gonna live with it

RSV 2006 squeaky rear .....

You should only air it with a hand pump. Preferably with a guage attatched. It's only maxed at 7psi and the volume is small so attaching and disconnecting the fitting will allow considerable amount of air out What is a bad idea is using a compressor house to fill them. The compressor pumps too much volume too quickly. Sui even if you think you are just gonna add a tiny amount, you will end up blowing the seals out. I personally hate blowing seals -
How passengers feel whne you have the controls

I made this video because melissa used to complain about the quick slow moving turns ie. Parking lot u turns and such. She would also say she can't see ahead around me. We took a ride with a friend of mine and the first few turns away from his house were violent sweeping turns . Melissa tapped on my shoulder. "SEE THAT'S WHAT YOU DO" I guess with a passenger, moving in a more subtle way and letting her know my intentions should ease the ride for her -
I 2nd SKYDOCs upgrade. I have put it on 2 bikes and it works amazing . Plus the help insight from skydoc. As for the windshield I will be cutting half inch off of mine tomorrow. Love it in the day but hate looking through it at night. I will be cutting from the bottom to lessen the shaping and sanding needed to look original. Cutting up half inch and with a dremel relocating the mounting holes and slots. I have cut a few windshields down before with real crappy results. If I ever eanted to do it again I would go to a pro. There they can cut and reshape

Not really that serious. I am never too serious. I am a jokester but sometimes its hard to see when my jokes are going a bit too far. So I found out she leaves tomorrow at 8am. So at about 9 am I will be slipping out for...AHEM a stroll. Soul searching!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAY9C8z70co Here is a small video of my last 4 min ride to work yesterday. Its easy to understand why passengers can get uneasy during a swereve or fast accel. This made me realize my wifes concerns and I will take notenext time shes behind me.

Actually. . I have a huge pad lock on it with keyptonite chains, The Club, an alarm system, 2 pit bulls, a davids star with a lock of hair above it, a sign that says please have mercy and the keys to my wife's car beside it.

I agree with you and I ride all year as long as no snow is on the ground. The carbs that I have pulled are from many bikes I have bought and flipped. I know someone will neglect their bike abd they won't be as easy to repair.
