  2. Im sorry to hear about this bud. DOnt worry the wife will get over it and allow you back in. No need to take all your belongings with you
  3. Its very easy to under ride the bike when riding with harley guys. I ride witha few in a harley owners group and they hate when i rev so high. So i generally try to shift when they do and my bike just lags or in this case lugs behind. i finnaly told them my bike has 2 more cylinders and it like to use them. So now Im stiull in first as they are shifting from 2nd to third. Are you comming from the harley side or maybe riding with lesser cyl bikes. Ride her hard. She wont get upset and youll know she likes it.LOL
  4. pm sent. I want one!!!!
  5. Check this site out. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ap/vents.html I threw these on one of my goldwings http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/vistavents.php And this is a goldwing vent which i plan on installing in a taller windshield. i have the rsc not the venture but hate having to remove the windshield in hot months and returning it when the cold mnonths return. i rather have the protection and option to vent when I need. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ75278
  6. I have been thinking of doing a carb synch also but the boot leak test proved possitive. i have a leak somewhere so I left it alone until i buy new boots. before you go for your synch check to see if your intake is leaking by shooting some strater fluid around your intake. if there is any change in rpm then you have a leak. If there is a leak, has anyone found a way to repair small leaks without removing the carbs?
  7. Is this a new problem. I mean is it a new bike to you. start with anything you changed from, windshield to helmet, riding position, Sounds like a wind buffeting problem.
  8. I am also a member of the Polar bear Grand Tour. Where are you located.?
  9. i may just have all I need then. Because all that you said you modded on your bike seem great but dont interest me. i guess I was just being picky . I feel the bike needs to be raised a bit, WOuldnt mind the drink holder but need more bar. The bar i have is not only too short and causes discomfort but theres no place to install anything else on there. Ez pass and gps holder , take up all the space. Im glad you were able to get all you needed. How important in the zerk fitting on the neck. Any pics or links to post on the matter?
  10. I found this out the hard way as well. Shop wanted to put in a rubber valve when I declined and explained why . he told how thats crazy and it should be pointed to the right side. It is now pointing and I have to use a double sided air chuck to reach from the left side anyway.
  11. I have to correct myself here. I must have been on meds when I first posted this. i have seen a few mods people have done here but they are either for the Ventures or I just dont feel the need for the item or mod. So i guess as someone said . it is the perfect scoot. Id like more lean angle as I am already scraping parts with what i feel is way to low of an angle. Id like a comfortable seat for my large Toucus. And TD bars or flanders beach bars.
  12. I did the sirius hook up to my goldwing. What i did was on the left lower fairing I used the window suction mount but ommited the suction mount. Went to the local hardware store and picked up a bracket that would hold the hmount nicely. i could also loosen the wing nut and remove or readjust as nesessary. The ant was routed under the seat and velcro 'd to the top of the trunk. I also used an in line modulator which goed between the factory ant and the radio. i picked this up at radio shack. This gets rid of almost all static. I have been from the tip of ny to york pA without having to change stations. On my families miniva, weve gone from jersey to florida without static. with this little device.
  13. I have never been on a poker run nor do I know how to play poker. Im curious besides the mishap. Are poker runs usually enjoyable.
  14. Hey man. I was out riding in november on a beautiful 60 degree day. 4 guys ouit . We met up with th epolar bear grand tour and then decided to enjoy the day and ride to the piers in NJ. teh jersey shore and watch the boats go by. Well tail gunner right behind me dropped it and 4 hours later having to tell his family he was gone was tough. What is tougher is getting the images outta my head. Each tough turns brings on a thought of that day. What takes teh fun out is knowing that whether it be driver inattention(error) or those who share the road with us. The danger exist. Trying to find that place where you forget about the danger and yet ride carefully is an art which i have not yet mastered.
  15. So i have owned 4 goldwings already. From 78 to 84. All the sites I joined relative to goldwings were very informative as here on this forum. The big difference is that I could use more specific related topics on goldwings sites. I usually log on to see what other people are talking about and to see if anyone is preforming a mod that may be interesting. I find slim to none here on this site. I guess this is due to the wonderfull nature of the beast we ride. Not many breakdown , mods, or upgrade topics. Most RS riders enjoy thier bikes as is. I have noticed seat and handle bar changes which I also plan to get done, but other than that a solid soild bike that leaves most activity in the watering hole as opposed to the repair section.
  16. I dont know if its my seek for a custom look, But im not a label whore. I would trade my yamaha for the right harley, triumph, motoguzzi, suzuki etc. I would actually like to have a LOT. A garage full of bikes. A ktm, Road king,concours,st1300,and maybe a triumph rocket. I always shake my head when I see guys sporting the brands. Suzuki on thier chest, harley on everything they own, or how about these urban guys with a baseball cap thats oversizeds and still thas the factory sticker on it. using it more for the status quo than the comfort or pleasure of the product. LOL:backinmyday:
  17. On your picture it looks like your pipe is in line with your wheel axel. When i removed my wheel to get the tire mounted. I had to remove the top pipe. the lower pipe is below the axle . http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/4-21-2011038.jpg
  18. Ive seen these pictures and you sure are a nut. But my problem is that i have 4 pipes one lower than the other . Compared to my buddy's 99 venture. The pipe does sit a bit lower. Its the hard steel pipe mount that scares me. the rear wheel felt like it was comming of at a certain turn. i have a crappy quality 40 min vide Id like to post so you can see the bike just pivot on the metal while you hear it scrape. I hope to someday remove chrome from my mufflers as well. thanks for the inspiration:pushups:
  19. Ok guys so looking at pegscrapers post . I found out he had a similar problem , but it didnt hit me till I looked at his pictures that this shock setup is reversed. The shock does not compress when under load it extends. All this time I have had the shock at the lowest softest setting , thinking it was the stiffest highest setting. So i will be doing his mod which is merely turning to suspension components around allowing extra clearance and Im gonna pump the preload up. I always rode my goldwings on high suspension settings with no problems. Although I have to asay that an attest to yamahas rear monoshock, I am 372lbs and I never bottom out even ono the sofftest setting. the red circle is the preload adjuster. When you look at it from under the bike you think it works like any other shock. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/Image.gif MOst other shock work in the opposite direction than this one.
  20. Great thanks for the help guys I think I found out my problem. ALthough I have not been bottoming out with my weight I had the shock at the softest lowest setting. THIS SHOCK IS BACKWARDS. WHoda thunk it? I also read up on pegscrapers post about doing a suspension triangle flip that will also raise the rear. Will update as soon as I kick this nasty cold my kids so generously left behind in my body.
  21. Heres a video i found and dont you know if he talks about counter weight steering being wrong for hig speeds because it will drop the bike lower than you want. So if this is the deal then the reply would be that i suck and need to learn my ride!!!
  22. I didnt even think of that. There was a point whne I had a gold wing i would notice my buddy push the bike over like a dirt bike. i will ask my buddies next time im out riding with them. Id like to hear others chime in on this idea. can it be possible that Im pushing the bike away from my lean . I think its a grat possibility in slow 90 degree corners and i may still fear the bike and thus not leaning in to the turn well. WHen i get over this cold I will try to find out if this is happening. ever since I witnessed my buddy lose his life while following me around a turn , i have a slight fear embedded in my mind.
  23. I would like anyone with a 96 rs to send me a pic of the monoshock and mounting brackets. i think my bike may have been lowered because I scrape at minimal lean angles.
  24. I thought that myself but my google search to look at all possible lowering kits dont look similar to anything on the bike I am the 3rd owner so I dont know off hand. And before getting my new rear tire mounted I looked at different tires. the size it calls for is 150-90-15 the height is 90% of the width so to get a taller tire I would also need to go wider and I didnt want to run into any problems. i am gonna post another question to see if anyone with my sme year bike can take a pic of thier monshock and mounts.
  25. At one point I felt uneasy . As if the bike was losing traction. Ill have to post a pic. The bottom of the pipe is slightly bent up. ill check barons to see what they make. Could it be that at 368 lbs Im almost the 2 up limit for the bike and therefore should wathc my lean angle. I think ill also check progressive. thanks.
