Ok then ride it and be glad all is well. Thanks for the assurance guys. Do you think my milage will increase now with the synch. Also where can one find a mechanical tach so I can set my idle correctly Or does anyone have a vid clip of thier bike in perfect idle. -

carb sync- verdict is in
muaymendez1 replied to kyle's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
So i have been reading this topic and also had to google the effect of high speed synching vs idle. I finnally decide I will try 2 tanks both ways. i synch my carbs first at idle .........Then i decided to roll on the gas. Its synched all the way up till about 4800 rpm. So I guess I did both high and low carb synch. ? am I missing something. I was off about 3 inches of merc either way before the synch and now am withing 1/2 inch or Hg. -
My new fuel mileage.
muaymendez1 replied to flb_78's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have clocked my milage pretty steady at 41mpg. I just synched my carbs yesterday first time since I aqquired the bike. The synch was way off hope to get better reading soon. I have not done long trips yet but I ride hard on first few gears and then cruise 5th gear 70- 80- 65 . I have a problem with staying oin one spot on the highway. I am afraiud [eople will frget I am there so I constantly change my speed. 96 rstc khromewerks slip ons, valves just done , synch just done.29500 miles. 36psi up front 39 on rear. 370lb guy solo riding bags but not much gear -

I know everyone who has chenged thier bars here says the way to go is that flanders bars. Due to the lack of available expendable fund I will have to wait months. The other option is toi find nice bars on ebay and get them in a week. I have been looking at road king and a few royal star bars. Better pull back and wider as well. has anyone tried road king bars, There is one I am looking at which does not have the knurled mounthing sections in the middle. is this necessary on our bikes for secure mouning or can i mount smooth handle bars? i have 3 on watched list on ebay right now so I am looking for the jury before purchasing. I can get one of these for $40 with shipping, hope I can go this route and save some cah while enjoying my ride some more.

Is Mercury still available. Motion Pro Manometer lost its Merc
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Shipping is the problem. If you ship in an unmarked box and its found to be dangerous good the shipper can face serious charges. i will try pharmacies as my mom said the same thing. Also light mercury light makers was a good idea. if all elsefails I found 2 places outta state that still carries the merc refill bottles. -
So my buddy had his manometer laying on the garage floor with half of the Mercury laying right next to it. I tried everything from a syringe to scooping up with a flat piece of paper and could only get half back in. He decided to let me have the now useless gueges. Is it trash? can I purchase or collect enough from old thermostats or can I substitute someother material for mercury?

Thi started last year . All from what He has told me. It began to slip when he jerked te throttle in third and now it happens if he ants to pass in 5th. He spoke to a shop when he hadtires put on and the told him that if he were to stop jerking the throttle so hard he wouldnt haveproblems. He has been riding more conservative and hasnt noticed the slipping. He wants it squared away and the shop wants to sodomize him for thw work and parts. On the other hand he has a nice back rest which I wanna get my mitts on. I do the work he compensates me enough to get my flanders bars and I get a backrest in the process. I thnk i will get thekit from skydoc aong with friction plates. This along with valve adjustment and replacing his leaky valve cover gaskets should priove to be interesting

I usually just forget hat gear I am in. Not so bad when trying to upshift with no gears left but, First geardownshift is always tough if Im not expecting first!!

My buddy has a 99 venture and he just loves gooosing the throttle. so much that it started slipping on him. I said I would do the work but i cant seem to find the clucth kit. the stealer wants$350 for the kit. Does anyone know where I can buy a clutch kit without giving my buddy a heart attack. Any suggestions as well. i think his clucth has to be bled because my 96 feel firmer than his so that may be part of the problem.

I saw one of these for sale for $75 and thought the same thing., If i had a garage I would have picked it up. Very light, galvanized so it wont rust. All you need is a floor and a ramp.

There is a difference here http://www.jcwhitney.com/maltese-cross-grip-covers/p2012385.jcwx?filterid=j3 this is for dress up. Almost like tassles on a girls bike. And this is a Get back whip http://www.chilhowee.net/whips.html Its called a get back whip because as stated earlier. if someone or something were inavding your space. A flick of this whip is supposed to grab someones attention. I have personally heard this technique applied on the hood of a car that got to close. Its pretty loud and scares the hell out of anyone in a cage without a gun. My 2 cents are. 2 tons win over 800 lbs any day. Metal cruches bones fairly easy and I dont want to piss off the wrong person.

Looks like a tube amlifier of some kind. Maybe to filter noise or increase radio range. Where did you find it. And why the spikes?? LOL

Reviving a five year old thread for early royal star owners
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
So here are my first few thoughts on this simple mod. I went out for a small 20 mile rid ewith the intent on scraping anywhere I could slow 90 degree turn to fast sweeping twisties. I was more aggressive than before and when i did scrape all it scraped was the floor boards. Pretty hard on one turn, i am thinking that with some front or forward controls I can get even more aggressive but I will leave well enough alone at this point. I will like to update on a longer run and see what results I get then. -
I would be carefull buying from sabercycles. Within my years of owning goldwings I have been screwed and heard alot of horror stories from other members of a different site. The items are not the greatest quality and show it. \ the old addage, you get what you payed for

IM just wondering if making your owna nd messing around with the angles will affect rideability. You say the v star has the same sort of setup. One monoshock under the bike? -
I was on the hunt to find how to raise the rear of the bike for better handling and more clearance in the twisties. I was lead to this post about making links. The leveling links spoke of in this forum lower the bike and they dont work for the earl RS. Pegscraper was doing a bunch of calculations and figured out that if we were to diconnect the linkage and replace them backwards. Facing the opposite direction the bike would raise very close to an inch. This post died in 2007 and there has been no update on how well this has worked out. I PMed pegscraper with no response so maybe someone else who has done this can chime in. I did this to my royal star this afternoon but due to a cold I cannot ride it yet. Maybe tommorow and see what difference there is. I only fear the strength of the links as installing them backwards allows a weaker, thinner side of the metal link to be in place of the fatter beefier side. I wonde rif this causes any malfuntion in the future.

I agree. I worked at a mechanics shop for a while and I did the same. Take your clothes for the week. In my case it was mechanics uniforms and dressed casual teh rest of the week. this was before I started riding but I worked far from home and if i wanted to hit the bar after work i didnt have to look and smell like a shop mechanic.

You can find an fm modulator at your local radio shack or audio video store. you plug your mp3 player to this gadget and it sends signals to your radio via an open fm station. Heres a tip fo you. if you add a switch between your ant line you can disconnect your radio ant allowing better pick up of the fm modulator. When you are ready to listen to the radio again hit the switch and youll close the ant line allowing the ant to work again.
