You can try this at home if you want. Start your bike and grab a litre of water and dump it into the spark plug well . And your bike will run like crap till it dries and drains the water.( PLEASE DONT TRY THIS)

The drain hols on my 2nd gen is behind the fin covers. I will be taking them off tommorow to spray them black so I will take a picture of the drain holes. The plug outer wall is grounded but the lead is the positive power. The insulator boot is not the best so if you hold the plug boot while cranking the engine you will still get shocked. Now if this is submeres in water the spark will find the point of least resistance to spark through. Water is the best conductor and therefore will cause rough running. Happened on my goldwing all the time. This is another reason why spark plugs with multiple arc legs are just a waits of money. The spark isnt going to jump through all 4 or 2 legs. its gonna find the point of least resistance.

About to trade my Roadstar for a Royal Star
muaymendez1 replied to gabrielb's topic in Watering Hole
How do you urn that thing. I have trouble scraping the shell out of mine. That would not be fun to ride around in. IMO. Definetly trade and go for it. -
Check your spark plug wells. The should have a drain hole that gets clogged up with debri. A small paper clip should clear the passage and allow water to drain and not ground your plug

Rid eit toll you need a new one

So you suggest changing the rear to a venture or the v max. Not that i will be changing anything yet. i like the bike the way it is and it has plenty power to scare me so ill leave her alone. Isnt there like a big air kit on here somewhere. The bog foot. i cant find it on the search.

My RSTC feels good but for some reason my buddys 99 venture seems to pull better. I did do the skydoc clutch upgrade but my bike doesnt slip so that shouldnt be athe difference. Is there a HP difference among those years?

HAd a chance to work on and ride a full dress
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Appreciate the help. thank you. Why would they put such a small fuse. Do you think rewiring to a thicker guage wire and a 10 amp fuse would damage something.Or wire it straight from the battery witha relay to switch power on with acc . -
accesory outlet fuse?? Where is it

Carb vacuum lines misplaced Where do they go
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
The 2 overflow tubes are what i forgot to install. Where should the tubes go to. Maybe I should trace them back and take them to the carbs. thanks for the help -

Thats what my buddy says. he bought the manual but it says lower cover which I though was teh one under the seat. How can i get to that fuse in the fairing. ?? -
This is a different bike than on my signature. The bike in question is the 99 rs venture.I usually dont forget steps when reinstalling parts but I know I did this time. The crossover vent lines one on each side of the carb sets, left and right. Where are those tubes comming from? If I would have seen them i would not have forgotten to remember to put them where they belong:fiddle:. Where should I look for these and am i right tinking that these are just vent tube or are they vacuum? While we are at it , does anyone know a post on making a bracket for the stebel horn?

My buddy brought his bike over to me to complete some work. bleed and replace and upgrade clutch, clean and synch carbs, adjust valves and replace valve cover gaskets. install a stebel horn and find out why his 12 v soket is not working. most is done. i need to remove the tank again because I know I forgot to reinstall tovacuum lines on the carb, they may be vent lines. need to find out how to make a bracket for the stebel horn and where the fuse is for the accersory plug. his is the 99 venture. First off the bike feel considerably heavier.Seems to have a slight bit more grunt but doesnt pull like my 96 tc. I really enjoyed the radio system and decided that i do not like the handle bar risers. Great arm position until it was time for a u turn and my elbow kept jabbing me in the tummy. had to make it llike an unexperience K turner.

Was Upsets me the most is that if you parked in a dfferent spot and casually walked up to him as he stepped out of the can and showed him the error of his ways, with a right hook ,you may have been arrested and labeled an outlaw biker. I am ashamed to say that I too have followed people home . a dangerous practice which may one day turn against me. But asking people how it feels to have the biker you cut off know where you rest, makes people very appologetic as thier faces turn white in fear as I pull away

Dont focus on balnacing and keeping the bike rolling. I found it worked better for me to not come to a complete stop and just see how slow you can go without feeling like you have to take yoru feet off the boards. in other words dont focus on trying to put your feet up , focus on not putting your feet down. i made this a game at every stop light while cars are stopped I just keep creepinga nd seeing if I can stay on and roll through without putting my feet down.

Now taht you mention a dead cylinder I have noticed a raspy sound comming from one of my 2 mufflers on the right side. Everything sounds deep and throaty but the theres that lil raspy sound. I thought that was the nature of the beast. I will take a look at the intake because I know I did snug em pretty tight. I tried to get an allan wrench on the exhaust nuts to crank em a bit more but I need a longer thinner tool. Im sure ill find it, It just may take me the season!!!

Funny. At first read I was all for chenging it the way my buddy has his. But the last post agreed with what I thought. It would idle roughl;y due to the unsynch. Its like having a vacuum leak. Ill keep mine the way it is and change my buddies to stock. Less vibration.

Does this look right?
muaymendez1 replied to Blue Giant's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not trying to nit pick but there should be a seteting on your digital camera that looks like a rose or a flower. Hit that button and you should be able to get better close up pictures with out focusing problems. This should give everyone a better Idea of what it all looks like -
i have put 1200 miles on this new to me bike without any problems. The last few rides it has gotten over 60 fareheit and I have been smelling fuel. i know this is not normal because one goldiwng I had smelled like that but yet no other bike except for this one have this problem. I checke dthe vent tube in front, fuel cap is on, No visible leaks. I have sat down watching carefully while reving the throttle and no leaks. This is a bit disturbing because I start smelling like fuel. Any ideas??

Quick Question. My rtsc has little rubber caps plugging the intake nipples. My buddies 99 rsv has a tube connecting left intakes together and right intakes together. I thought that would cause a vacuum problem but before I go changing it I wanted to know if any one knows how it should be?
